Jason and Kim were considered for the Red and Pink Turbo Rangers?

From IMDB's page:Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly) and Austin St. John (Jason) were originally considered to reprise their roles not as captives of Divatox, but to serve as the Pink and Red Turbo Rangers when Nakia Burrise and Jason David Frank reportedly wanted to leave the series. This would have had Catherine Sutherland take over as the Yellow Turbo Ranger with the return of Jason and Kimberly to the "Power Rangers Turbo" TV series following the film. However, the idea was rejected when both actors declined, due to the exhausting work hours of the TV series.

This sounds really sketchy but I wonder if theres any truth to it. I know the Nakia part is wrong because it was Sutherland who expressed interest in leaving not Nakia. If there's any truth to this it was never any script. Mind you IMDB is notorious for wrong information. There as bad as tv tropes!

Austin St John and Amy Jo Johnson were only brought back for the movie. They werent supposed to be in Turbo at all. Frank and Sutherland wanted to leave. Originally Tracey Lynn Cruz and Roger Velasco were going to take their place in Turbo's second half. With Nakia Burrise and Johnny Yong Bosch staying on. After a production shake up the decision was made to switch to a completely new cast.

Although it is funny....At one point during that point I remember wondering if Jason and Kim would replace Tommy and Kat. But I had no internet and came up with that on my own. During Zeo I also thought Jason and Emily would take Tommy and Kat's place.

I don't believe there's any truth to Austin or Amy Jo returning to be Rangers, they just agreed to come back for the movie and that was it.

However only JDF wanted to leave, Catherine herself did not want to leave... however everything else that PRangerX states is true.

That's a common error by a lot of fans but Catherine herself once stated that it wasn't true.

I see probably one of those rumors that were debunked later..

Even though Jason and Kim were never actually slated to replace Tommy and Kat it would have made a lot of sense story wise if they kept the same cast. Of course Amy Jo Johnson was done with PR by that point. And probably wouldnt come back.

Yup, that's what Power Rangers is, the show that has fans that start up so many rumors that you can never tell what is real and what isn't.

I agree that it would have made a lot of sense in that regard but I do agree that Amy Jo was likely done with being a regular cast member on the show and likely wouldn't have came back in that kind of role. Now in a cameo type of role she likely would have but not in a full role.

Perhaps they could have had Tommy get called to Eltar on an important mission from Zordon. With Kat deciding she wanted to go with him. Tommy selects Jason to take his place as Turbo Red, not long since he was Gold anyway. And Kat chooses Kim to replace her, ironic since Kim did that with her. And there you have a new Turbo team. With Tommy coming back in Space to play a big role. Of course this all was never going to happen. But its fun to speculate and make it work.
