I agree with Miki the mecha footage just wouldn't fit.

Saban got lucky with the Dairanger footage since while the "Lion" was a green zord in the footage it had enough black coloring to it to make it a black zord but you couldn't do that with the Ohranger mecha.

Saban got amazingly lucky with Dairanger and Kukuranger it seems.

I could still see it working. The suits are what matter not the color of the zords.

I wonder if this factored into their decision to change to Zeo. I know there were many other reasons but it could have been part of it.

wrong you still have to match the Ranger color to the zord granted Pink zords are never all pink they're mostly white but that's an exception to the rule. Are you seriously telling me that you'd be fine with say a White Ranger controlling a red Tyrannosaurus when it is clearly meant for a Red Ranger? or a Blue Ranger controlling a Yellow zord? if you are then you need to explore yourself and think about how little sense that makes.

probably but I think it was also because they wanted to get back to using more Sentai footage.

Saving money with more Sentai Footage was a big part of it. But the fact ratings and toy sales were declining made them want to freshen things up. With the hope it would spike the numbers. Of course Zeo failed to do that and things didn't stablize until Turbo.

I think fans would have overlooked the zords being a different color if it meant having the classic suits still around.

Saban Entertainment was smart to use more Sentai Footage. Even if it wasn't a perfect adaption of Sentai. It did lead to the heavily Sentai based seasons like Lightspeed and Time Force.

The zord issue wwpuld have been too mucn afterawhile. There is no way they could have used the same suits for much longer. Especially if the budget was an issue.

no doubt even if you don't consider the mecha issues being an issue the budget would be since they would either be re-shooting the fights or doing a Lipsyncher hack job with them since if they don't have the related monster suit then you can't re-shoot it so you have to do a splicing job.
