i definitely think he should have been Wes. I mean Wes couldn't pine for Jen forever. Wes dying would have been tragic but it would also explain why he couldn't go to the future with Jen. With the changes to the timeline , he was destined to be SPD Red and father Sky. Who had a pivotal role to play himself.

Sky's dad should have been Jason but without him dying. Not that SPD should be in continuity.
