Do the Lightspeed Powers predate MMPR?
 

Lightspeed had to be around for awhile. And Mitchill said he had been training Dana to be a Ranger all her life. An operation like Lightspeed couldnt have sprung out of nowhere. And we know that Mitchill had a long issue with the demons. Its very possible Lightspeed Ranger tech predated MMPR.

Probably, given everything we have seen the last 20 plus years.....Its very possible that there were other Ranger teams or powers before MMPR.

I think there were Lightspeed Powers but they weren't actually connected to the Morphing Grid until after MMPR. Mitchill probably saw the opertunity and reverse engineered the Space Powers so he could make the lightspeed powers compatable with the morphing grid.

I don't know about the powers but Captain Mitchell's plan to raise her daughter to become a Power Ranger in case the demons ever escaped certainly does predate Zordon recruiting his team of Power Rangers on Earth.

I don't think the original plan was to have a Ranger team. But Lightspeed itself was around for decades. The original plan probably involved a team of rescuers. Once Ranger technonogy became feaisble, Fairwether was brought in to design the morphers and the Ranger tech.

The producers don't care about any of that. It doesn't matter to them if Ranger Seasons contradict each other every season. Its all about the what the season is doing that year. Any nostalgia is mixed in with no regard to what made it work.
