Why did Zedd and Rita leave after Zeo?
 

They finally got rid of the Machine Empire and they never attacked the Earth again. Aside from that one cameo in the Turbo movie we don't see them again until PRIS. And even then they attack other worlds. Rita hated Divatox, so you would think she would be mad that she was taking over her turf.

Rita was likely pregnant with Thrax. And by the time she was ready to come back, Spector called them to the big UAE meeting..

The Rangers defeated Zedd and Rita off screen before the Turbo Movie. Its similar to the events of the fan film Scorpion Rain and why Serpenterra is buried on the moon in Forever Red

It was bizarre that they just let Divatox take over their turf. It was pretty clear Rita hated Divatox. Plus they just worked so hard to undermine the Machine Empire.

I don't know if it was actually the events of Scorpion Rain. But something had to happen. A lot of the Zeo plothreads left hanging from the final episode were left unanswered. It felt like we missed a few episodes and went right to Turbo.

Yeah Scorpion Rain is just a fan film. But I can deffinitly see something else happening to explain the disconnects.

Well we know Serpenterra was on the moon. So its not that crazy to think that Scorpion Really happened.

I always thought Dark Spector ordered them somewhere else.

In-story, it could be that Dark Specter summoned them as a part of his master plan to defeat the Power Rangers and conquer the universe. This lead to Divatox becoming the main villain for the Turbo movie and the entire 5th season. Dark Specter knew that any Ranger team on Earth would stop each of her plans. That was actually a brilliant plan - buying himself time to create and put into motion an elaborate plan to defeat every Ranger by having every one of them fight for what's right. DS knew Divatox was not Ranger-intelligent or Ranger-smart, so he just let her do her own thing until the time didn't come.
