It was kind of odd how he hated her so much in season 2? Since he seemes so loyal to her in season 1?

Maybe they had a fallout before Zordon trapped them into the dumpster. Goldar was actually Lord Zedd's minion, as per events in "The Mutiny": Goldar used to have wigs before the events in MMPR S1, was assigned to Rita and failed to do a mission under her command. Zedd takes away his wings and he gains his S1 look and that's exactly why he had a fallout with her. Somehow, he blamed her for his failure. When Zedd comes back, he is happy with Goldar's work as a warrior and chooses to give Goldar his original from and wings back. Until that happened, Goldar had no other choice but to put his feelings aside because he knew Rita was going to fail at defeating the Rangers and conquering the World, so he just waited for the right moment to say everything to her face. But than she got back to him with marrying Zedd, so he had to accept her once again, but this time as his master's wife.

He had to stay on her good side when she was in charge. But once Zedd came back, he no longer had to pretend to be loyal to her. Especially since Zedd clearly was mad at Rita. He had no idea Rita was peuld come back and marry Zedd. Goldar tried his best to make that not happen since he couldn't just go back to pretending Rita was his bbf. As in Best Boss Forever.

Wouldn't you hate Rita if you worked for her and had to kiss her behind all those years? Then you at finally free of her and have to go back to working for her?

All of Rita's henchmen only pretended to like her because she was in charge and Zedd was long gone. Once Zedd came back they no longer had to pretend to love Rita.

not all of them. Goldar was the only one who despised her. Finster wasn't a fan of Zedd since he wasn't making monsters anymore until Rita came back who he was still very loyal to. Squatt and Baboo simply didn't care who was at the helm they'd be following black sludge if it was their Boss we just don't know about Lokar or Scorpina since we never saw Lokar come back once Zedd was on the scene and while Scorpina came back once while Zedd was at the helm she left and never came back

Finister is a good point. But the other ones just gsve Rita the cold shoulder when Zedd first arrived. Squatt and Babboo just went back to kissing up after she came back.

Goldar knew Rita was a threat to his place in the heirachy of the villains. When Zedd wasn't around, Goldar had to be nice to Rita.

I don't think Goldar really liked anybody. He just had to be nice to Zedd.

Its really not surprising. Since the members of the UAE were always trying to backstab each other. Its part of why the Rangers always won with teamwork. The UAE had none.

Rita was pretty annoying and hard to work for. For as much headaches she complained about, she gave a lot more.

Rita was such an annoying boss, I am surprised more of her minons didn't turn on her sooner.

Goldar had to kiss up to Rita when she waa his boss. With Zedd back, he outranked Rita. Which made Repulsa no longer worth brlwnnosing too. When Rita came back Goldar was afraid that she would pay hom back for his betrayal.

Well Goldar says how great it is to have Lord Zedd back, so he was obviously just being a good henchman and working with Rita on their combined mission given by Zedd to conquer Earth.

Goldar changes a fair bit throughout MMPR, obviously they were working out his voice and role in the early part of season 1 but he does seem to go from being able to fight on par with the rangers to just being part of a comic duo with Rito and being easily beaten/pushed aside - maybe that's because the rangers powers grew stronger but his never did?

I think it was a little bit of both. The canon reason is the powers growin g for the Ranger. But behind the scenes they decided to make Goldar more of a comedy character.

Goldar lost all credibility when White Ranger Tommy kicked his butt all the time. It was a mistake on the writers part. And afterawhile they were fine with keeping him comic relief.

In season 1 they had him act more like the Zyuranger Villian. But after that they did their own thing. Season 1 Goldar was the best in my opinion.

No Thanks. I don't want to get invovled in that again. While I still Love Sentai, I also apreciate PR more for what it is than I did before
