Kamen Rider English Versions
Hi there, I'm new. So Dragon Knight is going good so far, but no one knows about Adam as Onyx yet so... while waiting for the next Kamen Rider, can anyone make up ideas of the next rider series? Like character identities, personalities, allies, villains... that kind of stuff. Oh and themes for each rider show?

I really don't know anything about the other rider series. I've only seen Kamen Rider Dragon Knight and four episodes of Kiva. Sorry.

The prince of far-away planet thing reminds me too much of Saban's Masked Rider (or is that what you were shooting for?) and I don't understand how it relates to english. Anyway, I just found some codes to do away with the region coding on my DVD player, so I might order Kabuto if I can find it with subtitles on eBay (I just got Media Blaster's Kamen Rider the First! :)). Although I think I'll buy a new DVD player dedicated to the cause.

TokuNoob you can watch almost all of the Kamen Rider series subbed on TV Nihon's site. That's how I watched them.
As for the topic of this thread I have to disagree with them basing it off of Highlander. There are similarities, but I doubt that was their intent. Now for Kabuto I think the theme should focus on government oppression. They don't need to change any of the Rider's names because they all fit English excluding the three Riders from the movie. They changed the Ryuki Riders names because they were completely Japanese excluding Knight and Odin. The others I would need to think more about, but I would only like to see Blade, Faiz and Decade being the only other ones made. No Den-O, Kuuga, Agito, Hibiki or Kiva due to lack of Riders and no Hibiki because it is not a real Kamen Rider show. Just a last minute fill in. Double could be a possibility depending on how the series progresses. |

I am not a musical or artistic kind of person so a music themed show has already lost me. The glare in manys scenes was maddening. The production value at first seemed decent then it just dropped off the map. Mostly the second half killed the show for me. |
Hmm...interesting topic. I'm not so sure about the one for Decade though. Reason being that what about those that are not familiar with the other Riders, as well as the background stories?
As for Double...I can sort of see some potential for that one. |
I think Americans just can take the style. It's too far from reality for the casual viewer to take seriously or to view as worth anything, it isn't antimated and too budget constricted for little kids hooked on "Dinosaur King" and "Pokemon."
Sadly, Tokusatsu will remain solely for the enlightened. |

My idea of some sort of James Bond/GI Joe/propaganda themed version of Kabuto that doesn't use the Japanese footage, just the outfits.
The only good guy who is a "kamen rider" is "Gattack" aka Agent Spike. The bad guys are a communist organization called Zect, lead by, Jan Lenin (yes hes name is a parody of John Lennon. Get it? Beetles?) who is actually Kabuto because red=soviet. Scorpiantos (Sasword) is his bad@$$ goth assassin guy and Vesp (TheBee) is the scientist who mutates misbehaving slaves (into "worms"). Drake is the weapons specialist and Mite (one of those trooper guys, except here there's just one of him) is like the comic relief guy. |
Finally everybody is thinking of english adaptions of the Kamen Riders! :)
My idea for Kamen Rider W's adaptation... is a Sherlock Holmes theme. Two descendants of Holmes and Watson will be the users. |

Blade would be good in a resident evil style by having the government hire a company to eradicate the undead menice however they don't realise one of their own riders is the main undead, Kabuto probably works best as a Space Police style show, Faiz would be awesome as a post apocolyptic season as hinted toward during the movie, Hibiki could be an american sect of an ancient order fighting their anchint enemy, and DenO would most likely be a fun silly series that would go on for two seasons the first being the actual series and the second being based on all the movies that keep coming out
