3/21/11  Chris Funaro has heard that Jonathon Tzachor doesn't consider the seasons Chris Funaro has heard that Johnathon Tzachor doesn't consider the seasons he didn't work on canon ( NS-RPM). He even tried to get those seasons pulled off the website. But his request was denied. As Saban Brands won't throw away the revenue streams that these seasons bring. Tzachor was a producer for MMPR-Wild Force ( having full control of the show during Turbo-Wild Force). He has recently returned to helm Samurai.

Chris' Thoughts:
I think people are overreacting about this a bit. Since Tzachor was denied his request to not have NS-RPM on the official website. And Saban Brands would never erase these seasons from existence. It just doesn't make business sense to do that. And its not like Power Rangers has slaved to continuity for a long time. I am a little worried about how they handle Gokaiger. Since that Sentai involves the new Sentai team being able to assume past Ranger forms. But tha won't be adapted for another few years.

3/21/11 The viewership figures for the first run airing of "Here Comes The Brides" are in. The episode was watched by 2.68 million viewers. Which is down three percentage points from the 2.98 million viewers it got the previous week. And two percentage points from two weeks ago. Source: Nick And More

Samurai Ratings Thread

Chris' Thoughts: Samurai has been getting viewership numbers in the 2.8-3.0 million range. This is the lowest viewership number so far. But it might not be a big deal. Since its only one week. And it takes several weeks to make a trend. Plus the viewership number still looks good. It will be interesting to see if ratings return to normal this week. And how they shape up for the next several weeks.

3/21/11  The Random Crap Podcast posted an interesting piece of paper from a Samurai episode that links Saved By the Bell to the PRU. The paper has Bayside Resort listed. Which was a resort that the Saved By The Bell gang worked on during their summer vacation.

Chris' Thoughts: It sounds like a bit of a stretch. But it is a fun topic to think about. Power Rangers diffinitly has elements of Saved By The Bell. Especially in the early days. When you think about it, the characters on Saved By The Bell would have made a good Ranger team.
3/21/11  Tony Oliver is scheduled to appear at Sakura-Con. Which takes place on April 22-24, 2011. The con is located in Washington ( more specifically the Washington State Convention Center). Oliver is the co-creator of Power Rangers and former Supervising Producer. He currently serves as a consultant. He is most famous for his work on Robotech ( as the voice of Rick Hunter).

Sukura-Con

Chris' Thoughts: The website does a nice write up on Oliver and his career. He really has had a rich history in television. And doesn't always get enough credit for involvement with Power Rangers. But that seems to be changing now. Its good to have him on board for Samurai.

3/21/11 Power Ranger Empire has reopened as a new website and board. Originally PRO Board was going to become the new PRE. But plans have changed. PRE will be its own site, separate from PRO and its forum. Old members are invited to return.

Power Ranger Empire

This doesn't nothing to change PRO Board.

http://www.pro-board.org/

Chris' Thoughts: I realized that PRE had to be its own board. I thought it would be fun to bring back PRE with a website. Since I like it when websites and forums work hand in hand. This also allows PRO Board to retain its own idenity. Which is also important to me.

3/13/11  RRR, CSToys International, HJU, YouTube Toy Reviewers, and Renz Media Network Sites have banded together for the Super Hero Time Promotion. This charity will benefit the people of Japan, as they face the terrible earthquake and tsunami disasters. They are taking donations that will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross. ...Special sales promotions are also being done RRR, and CSToys, that will go towards the charity. So far over 2,600 dollars have been raised by Super Hero Time.

Super Hero Time: Japan Relief Effort

Here is the Link to the donation page ( be sure to check to make sure the language is right)

Donation Page

Here are some of the sites with the merchandise promotions:

Shirtzor

CityToys

Chris' Thoughts: Its terrible to see what the Japanese people have had to gone through in the last few days. And it sounds like they have a long struggle ahead of them.

So I fully support Superhero Time for the efforts here. And I suggest that you all donate to the cause. Even if its just a few bucks. That can go a long way if everyone does that.

3/13/11 The Power Rangers Samurai appeared in a Saint Patrick's day parade in Chicago. The parade occurred on Saturday, March 13, 2011. The first person to post a picture of the Green Ranger at the parade at the official pr facebook and/or twitter pages ( not this facebook page)....Will have it placed in the Wall of Fame Photo Album.

Parade Information

Chris' Thoughts: Too bad I found out about this after the parade actually happened. Sounds like a good time though.  Sounds like it was just the Green Ranger based on the wording of the advertisement.

3/13/11 Fury Diamond of Samurai Cast and Rangercrew has posted a video interview with the main cast of Power Rangers Samurai. The interview took place at the world premiere of Samurai ( which took place at The Grove in LA). The interview video is presented as a youtube clip.

3/13/11  Ratings are in for " Sticks an Stones" and "Fish out of Water". Sticks and Stones had 2.8 million viewers. " Fish out of Water" had 2.9 million viewers. Both ratings are from the first run airings ( Sunday at noon) This is information originally came from Nick an More

The Samurai Ratings Thread

Chris' Thoughts: Like it or hate it, Samurai keeps with the solid ratings. The best the franchise has had in a long time. Of course a lot of that has to do with being on a stronger network with better mobile marketing then  recent seasons of the show. As well as a strong promotional push with a lot of near field communication and many fans sending text message codes to get their friends to watch as well. . But the ratings remain steady thus far. So thats a very good sign.

3/1/11 WorldScreen.com posted a new Q and A with Saban Brands President Elie Dekel. Dekel talks about all the hype the debut of Samurai has garnered and its early success thus far. He discusses how focus groups have revealed about the target demos that are watching the show. Which seems to have appealed to a lot of girls. De...kel mentions how 20 episodes have been produced with 20 more about to enter production.

3/1/11 Bloomberg.com posted an article about Power Ranger's relaunch a few months back. The articile discusses the formation of Saban Brands and their re-aquistion of Power Rangers ( years after Saban Entertianment was sold to Disney. Saban Brands President Elie Dekel is quoted. There is talk of future video games and a possible movie in 2013.

Dekel talks about the near 200 million dollar investment that has been made in the franchise. Saban Brand's next moves are also discussed.

Chris' Thoughts:
You have to give Saban Brands and Nick credit for how they have promoted the return of the show. The promotional investment in the show has been amazing. Its the best the show has had in years.

3/1/11 Windgirl is looking for questions for a Rhett Nelson interview. Who was the music composer for Operation Overdrive and Jungle Fury. Windgirl is doing this as part of a special project she is working on. Windgirl asks that people stay away from "Whats you're 'favorite color?" type questions.

3/1/11  Tommy Lawson of Toonzone thinks that he has found proof that Nick skipped over the first two episodes of Samurai. Since director Peter Selmon's website credits him for directing the first three episode of Samurai, as well as episodes seven, eight, and nine.

Lawson explains that Power Rangers Samurai is directed in blocks of three episodes. Selmon is credited for directing "The Team Unites". While Luke Robinson is credited with directing "Deal With A Nighlok". Lawson asserts that this means "The Team Unites" is actually episode three.

Tommy Lawson's Post

Chris Thoughts: This sounds right. Since "Team Unites" did not feel like a first episode at all. It just baffles me as to why they'd not are the first two episodes first? Supposedly, Nick has been known to do this with their shows. But it still doesn't make sense to me. The debut should have been a special one hour debut. Or at least the first episode.

3/1/11  Sky TV Magazine has revealed the UK debut for Power Rangers Samurai. It will air weekdays Monday-Friday... Starting on March 7. The episodes will air at 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. The show will air on Nicktoons on channel 606. Power Rangers Samurai debuted on Feburary 7 in the US. Where it airs on Nickelodeon every Sunday at noon.

3/1/11   Tristian of Rangerboard, wrote a interesting essay talking about what he thought are the weaknesses of Power Rangers Samurai. He feels that he hasnt connected with the characters. And the lack of a real premiere hurt this. Trisitan is also not a big fan of the comedy. He doesn't think they are using Bulk and Spike to t...heir potential. Tristian thinks that they are adapting Super Sentai too much.

3/1/11  Licensing.biz has an article about the successful debut of Power Rangers Samurai . It averaged a 4.5 for kids 2-11, a 5.39 for boys aged two to 11, 5.06 for kids 6 to 11, and a 0.5 average raiting for adults. With a total viewership of 2.8 million people. 11. This was for the special Monday Night airing on Feb. 7, 2011.

3/1/11  ‎"Day Off" ( the Feb. 20 first run airing) garnered 2.8 million viewers. Which is down from the 3.1 million viewership the week before. Bui at the same level as weak one ( which aired in a different timeslot). The original information is from Nick and More. But the link is to Poweranimal's post at Rangerboard.

Chris' Thoughts: Samurai continues to do very well in the ratings.

2/22/11   Jason David Frank got in an altercation after a low level MMA Fight. He was there watching some of his fighters. A worker thought one of Franks's fighters wasn't going to give back his gloves. He made a comment about how Jesus wouldn't steal the glove ( The clothing line Frank wears is called "Jesus Wouldn't Tap). Fr.ank allegedly punched the worker and knocked out some teeth.

JDF is claiming that the worker assaulted him first. Jason David Frank played Tommy Oliver during Mighty Morphing Power Rangers-Turbo and DinoThunder ( With a guest appearance during Wild Force).

JDF is claiming that the worker assaulted him first. Jason David Frank played Tommy Oliver during Mighty Morphing Power Rangers-Turbo and DinoThunder ( With a guest appearance during Wild Force).

2/22/11  Power Rangers Online Message Board has become the new Power Ranger Empire. Mesogog has allowed me to use the old domain. This will not change the board or how it is run. It is still the PRO Message Board. The domain will allow the forum to grow and have a clear identity apart from the PRO.Website.

Power Ranger Empire was an successful Power Rangers Forum for several years. It had many forms and different names at times. But it was pretty big. The board started in 2004. It had many close downs and restarts but the final one came just recently.

2/22/11  The Power Rangers Online Hall of Fame took place on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011. Our inductees are; Ray Calderon, Amit Bhaumik, Manny Perez, Mike Wayne, Tommy Oliver, Jason David Frank, and Haim Saban. The next Ceremond will be on Feb 21, 2012.

The Power Rangers Fandom Awards we're also announced. Ray Calderon won the Lifetime Achievement Award and will have the award named after him ( as the Calderon Award). Micheal Bastian/Gerald Conde shared Webmaster of the Year. Decade won Message Board Owner Of The Year. Saban buying back Power Rangers and brining it back on Nick was the Story of the Year. PRC won website of the year. While Rangerboard won Message Board Of The Year.

Power Rangers Online Hall of Fame

Chris' Thougths: You still have a chance to win a free RPM DVD. As our Trivia contest is on going. But you must act fast.

2/20/11  The Power Rangers Hall of Fame is this Monday ( Feburary 21, 2011) at 8 pm eastern. The event will take place at the PRO Message Board. Four fandom contributors, one cast member, one crew member, and one character will get in. We will also have the Fandom awards for 2010. There is going to be a DVD Giveaway for RPM's... second DVD ( International fans may have to pay shipping and handling).

There is going to be a DVD Giveaway for RPM's second DVD ( International fans may have to pay shipping and handling). Its the episode with all the Ranger origin episodes. We are going to do a trivia contest where the winner gets the DVD. You have to be a member of the board to be in the contest.

2/20/11  Power Rangers Samurai Episode 2 "Deal with a Nighlok scored 3.115 million viewers. Which is up from the 2.8 million viewers the week before. Power Animals got the ratings which originally came from a twitter citing info from the NickandMore's Website. This is for the first run airing.

Poweranimals'  Post

Chris Thoughts: This is another great showing. We don't have demos or average rating info yet. But the fact that viewership went up a bit for week 2 is a great sign. Especially after so many people were worried about the timeslot on Sunday.

2/14/11  An article out of New Zealand..... Tells the story about how two stunt actors meant and became a couple while training to be part of Power Rangers Samurai's production. There names are Patrick Morrison and Aya Sugiyama Morrison plays a mooger on the show. Sugiyama is the stunt double for the Yellow Ranger.

Morrison has done stunts for Outrageous Fortune, Xena Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Sugiyama has a background doing stunt shows in Japan.

Article about the couple

Chris' Thoughts: Just a little Power Ranger V Day story for you.

2/14/11                                       A Look Back To RPM

by: Chris "PRangerX"  Zunis

Power Rangers Samurai has just debuted. Now is a good time to take a look back at the last Power Rangers incarnation, Power Rangers RPM ( MMPR 2.0 not withstanding).

The off season before RPM debuted was an odd one for PR fans. As months went by with no real information about the new season or who the new Exec was. Also it was revealed that Disney XD was not carrying Power Rangers. RPM was to be exclusive to ABC Kids. Rumors of RPM being the last season started to spread. As did word of some kind of production change.

There was some casting news and basic plot info. But the only real RPM promotion came through a trailer leaked by someone on staff. Which excited the fandom. As it showed a darker more epic Power Rangers. With the Rangers having to defend the last city on Earth during a robot apocalypse.

1/12/11  Bandai America is giving Power Rangers a presence at Toy Fair 2011. Which includes toys from shows like Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, ThunderCats, and Pocoyo; Fashion Design by Harumika. As well as with brands like; Tatumi, Skreemsters and Hover Strike HC.

1/12/11 Pictures have been released from the recent Power Rangers gathering at the Grove in LA. This was done during the debut episode of Power Rangers Samurai. There was a cast meet and great, a martial arts demonstration, and a screening of the first episode.

1/12/11 Nick.com released a summery for the second episode of Samurai that airs Sunday at Noon Eastern. Here is the Summery

"After the devious Nighlok Doubletone tricks a young boy into giving up on his dreams of playing professional baseball, the Rangers investigate. Kevin and Mia realize that they too have had to postpone their dreams for the greater good in order to become Rangers. The teens resolve to put their personal goals and emotions aside and rally against the Nighlok to prove that no one should ever give up on their dreams."

1/12/11 Burgandy Ranger reports that Power Rangers Samurai's debut received a 1.7 rating in its timeslot. Which equals 2.7 million viewers. Samurai scored a 0.5 for the 18-49 demo. The debut got a 1.3 for teens and a 3.9 for Kids 2-11.

This was for a special airing that was on Feb. 7, Monday at 8 pm Eastern. Regular episodes ...will now air every Sunday at noon eastern. With replays on Friday Nights.

Burg's newsbyte at Power Rangers On Air Central

Chris' Thoughts: This was a very good rating to start out with. The kids demo is the most important number. Of course the episode aired first run in prime time and not the regular timeslot that Samurai will air in.

Burg also talks about Samurai re-airings that are going to be on Nicktoons.

1/12/11 Chris Funaro seems to have clarified what the Namco Bandai article meant....When it said Power Rangers Samurai had 40 more episodes to be produced. Saban sources have indicated that there will be 20 episodes of Samurai over the course of two seasons. With a possible three part special. Funaro thinks the extra 40 episodes are actually for the next Power Rangers adaption.

1/12/11 Paul Schrier posted a message on Rangerboard. Schrier talked about his return to the the franchise. He thanked everyone at Saban Brands for having him back. And doesn't seem to be a big fan of spoilers.

Paul's message to the fans

1/12/11  Here are several clips Nick.com released for the Samurai debut.

1/12/11 An article on Mcvuk.com hypes Namco Bandai's deal to produce Power Rangers Video Games. The article mentioned how Saban Brands bought the franchise back for 43 million last year. It also discusses that Samurai has 20 episodes slated to air. With 40 more episodes supposedly in production.

Go to the Article

Chris Thoughts' : So it looks like the estimated 100 million figure that Saban Brands supposedly bought Power Rangers for was a little high. As the article says that Saban Brands bought the franchise back for 43 million.

Its interesting that 40 more episodes are in production. Since that would seen give Samurai 60 episodes. But the article wasn't specific.

1/4/11 A PR firm ( associated with Saban Brands and/Or Nick) has sent out more info on the special screening of the Samurai debut episode. There is going to be prizes for the first ten fans that show up in costume . Gage Golightly ( a star of The Troop) is hosting the screening. An actor meet and greet is included. There will also be some media time and some Ranger training.

1/4/11  It seems Power Rangers got a mention on the Colbert Report. It was a reference that had something to do with the new Ohio Governor. It seems there is criticism that he didn't hire African Americans. A point was made that it was like the Power Rangers, but if they had only white colors.

Power Rangers on Colbert Report.

1/4/11  Truncated Power Rangers created a parody of MMPR of the same name. Episodes of MMPR are dubbed over with a new voice track. Its done in a funny and sarcastic tone. Its not a straight dub of every MMPR episode.
1/4/11 The No Pink Spandex Podcast is having an event to celebrate its fifth anniversary. The event will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2011. No Pink Spandex Live will be a gathering of fans in an intimate setting. David Yost ( Billy Cranston, MMPR Blue Ranger) will be the special guest. Ticket information is on the NPS Live Website.

1/3/11  Character descriptions of Bulk and Spike ( Bulk's nephew from the preview video) are up on the character page of the Nick Samurai site. They confirm that Spike is not only Bulk's nephew, but also Skull's son. Which of course means Bulk is probably not his biological uncle.

1/3/11  Toku Asia posted a Video interview with Jason Chan ( Cam Watanabe) . Where they discussed Chan's time as Cam (on Power Rangers Ninja Storm), his acting career, and his life in Singapore. There is also an exclusive giveaway of autographed posters of Chan.

1/3/11  There is going to be a special screening of the Samurai premiere on Fab. 7 , 2011. This will take place at Park in the Grove ( which is in LA). Ranger actors will be there for a meet and great with fans. There will also be a contest.

Screening Information

Chris' Thoughts: Its good to see Saban Brands/Nick going all out for the premiere. This special screening is the same day as the actual premiere on Nick. Its impressive that they are actually going to have the cast in LA.

1/3/11  TV Squad has posted an article that previews the Ranger characters on Power Rangers Samurai. Which features Alex Heartman, Erika Fong, Najee De-Tiege, Brittany Pirtle, and Hector David. A video is attached given us a sneak preview. But it is the same sneak peak that was released elsewhere. There is what appears to b...e a new picture of the Rangers without their helmets.

1/2/11  Kochi Sakamoto sent a email response to Henshin Justice, in regards to Episode 19 of Henshin Justice Radio . This had to do with some tributes he made to Dragon Knight and RPM ( On Kamen Rider W Forever A-Z). Where a helicopter pilot used the term Kamen Rider as it was said in Dragon Knight. The second example involved Accell doing some RPM type moves. Sakamoto admitted to the tributes and said they we're done on purpose. They were done as a tribute to Dragon Knight and to bring some of the tricks he used in RPM to Kamen Rider.

Kochi Sakamoto is a long time stunt director and episode director. He was in charge of the stunts for Power Rangers, for most of its run. He also directed a lot of episodes of the series. Sakamoto recently left the franchise to work on the Kamen Rider franchise.

Henshin Justice Radio is a podcast on the Henshin Justice Website. Which covered Power Rangers, Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and other Tokusatu. The website is ran by Kieth Hayward.

1/2/11  Joe Rovang brings up some interesting evidence that could prove that Operation Overdrive took place in 2006, as opposed to 2007. Since a screen cap of some tickets depicted on the show are dated; Friday, April 14. April 14 did not fall on a Friday in 2007. But did fall on a Friday in 2006. Operation Overdrive aired in 2007. Rovang also points out how this could pass Mystic Force back to 2005.

Rovang is the creator of the Writers Guide to the Power Rangers Universe. He currently runs his own wiki and has been a long time fan fic writer. Rovan is also famous fo...r his PRU timeline.

Chris' Thoughts:
While the ticket could just be a misprint, its interesting to wonder about. Just because Overdrive aired in 2007, doesn't mean it couldn't actually have took place in 06.

Mystic Force taking place in 2005 is interesting, since SPD aired i...n 2005 and too place in 2025. Which has always left me to wonder what Ranger team was active in 2005. Perhaps I have my answer

1/1/11 Entertainment Weekly has an article up talking about the debut of Power Rangers Samurai. With some quotes from Elie Dekel, Saban Brands President. There is a clip attached that gives us a peak into the premise for the new season.

Entertainment Weekly Article

Chris' Thoughts: Sounds like a typical Power Rangers origins. With an ancient evil coming back for revenge. It doesn't show us too much. But gives us a taste for what to expect next week.

Its going to be interesting to see how they handle the comedy. Since I...... think there was plenty of comedy in the Disney seasons. In fact the same types of things we're said when Disney took over the franchise.

1/1/11  Power Rangers was mentioned in an episode of Mega64:3DS. It appears the host is a Power Rangers fan. And actually a member of the fandom at some point.

Here is a thread on Rangercrew about the subjects.

1/1/11 Power Rangers action figures made an appearance on the Robot Chicken TV Show. They we're used in a skit that featured the MMPR Figures versus a Mesogog toy.

Here is the information on the subject

Here is the episode in question.

1/1/11  UDR1 has started a Power Rangers website that is going to be dedicated to fan fiction, costume design, and prop design. Its still under construction.

1/1/11  PR_legends2005 has received an uncut version to the "Shift Into Turbo" video. He got the video from Guitar/Vocalist Jason Greschke. The song was preformed by Fulflej. And was a part of the soundtrack to the Turbo Movie. In its cut form. This is the first time the uncut version has been released.

1/31/11 Eric Goldman of IGN.com has confirmed the rumors that..... Paul Schrier is indeed returning to Power Rangers as Bulk. A clip is attached with a a scene Schrier appears in. The article says that Schrier will debut in the first episode of Samurai. And will appear throughout the rest of the season as a guest star.

Paul Schrier first protrayed Bulk in Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. The Bulk character served as a early foil to the rangers, along with his Skul ( Jason Narvy). But went through many changes. From trying to discover the idenities of the Power Rangers,  serving as a JR Police Officer, working as  a Jr. Detective, turning into a chimp, working odd jobs,  and actually saving the world. Bulk also  had a brief run as a bartender with Professor Phenomenus ( the late Jack Banning).

Schrier  remained on Power Rangers through Lost Galaxy. With a cameo appearance during "Forever Red". Schrier also had a behind the scenes role on the series. As he directed some episodes during the early seasons.

http://tv.ign.com/articles/114/1145326p1.html

Chris' Thoughts:   Its interesting to see Schrier back as Bulk, after all these years. He has always been a fan favorite. Its a nice throwback to the past. The Clip reminds me of the Cockroach Karate stuff in MMPR.

It sounds like Jason Narvy is not returning as Skull. The article does not mention him. And the video makes it look like Bulk's nephew is playing the old Skull type character.

1/27/11                 Power Rangers Samurai Shows Brand's Longievity

by: Chris "PRangerX"  Zunis

1/27/11 Power Rangers Samurai is set to debut Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. With regular episodes airing on Sunday afternoons. This means the return of Power Rangers to first run TV. And proves that Power Rangers as a brand is far more then just a any short lived TV Show.

When rumors of Power Rangers impending cancellation began to break in RPM, many fan began to worry about the future of the franchise. As ratings and toy sales had been on the downward slide for quite some time. With RPM's regulation to the weak ABC Kids Block and exclusion from Disney XD, it seemed like Power Rangers wasn't a priority for Disney.

This seemed especially the case when the remastered reruns of MMPR Season 1 flopped on ABC Kids. Many fans feared that Disney had given up on the franchise , one that they probably never understood fully to begin with. To these fans Power Rangers was going away and never coming back.

1/24/11 Mesogog has decides to close Power Rangers Universe. Which was the latest incarnation of Power Ranger Empire. Power Rangers Empire has been started in 2004. It quickly became one of the biggest PR forums on the net. But some technical problems and numerous reboots seemed to water the concept down. PRE recently changed its name to Power Rangers Universe.

Chris' Thoughts: One can't argue that Power Ranger Empire has been a major force in the fandom for a long time. Even if it has slowly lost momentum over time. It wouldn't be surprising to me, to see the board come back in yet another form someday. Since it has closed and re-opened before.

1/24/11 Toku Hero is the forum for Power Rangers Central and its network. The same site that helped to build Ranger Board and Rangertalk/Rangervision. The Rangertalk.com domain is parked on Toku Hero.

1/24/11 Rangertalk's database has been sold to new owners. And has moved to a new domain on Rangervision.com. Rangertalk was once the forum for Power Rangers Central. Until the owner replaced it with Toku Hero.

1/24/11 The Ranger Legacy forum is a message board to discuss Power Rangers. It looks like a smaller community that has potential.

Chris' Thoughts: I always like to help webmasters by given attention to there websites , message board, ect.... So you will see me make this plugs here. Like I have done in the past.

1/24/11 I found an interesting new board. Writing Intuition is a place to post fan fiction for Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, and other Toku.

Chris' Thoughts: Its good to see people trying to find new ways to post stories. I have long felt that a Message Board would be a great way to use as a fan fic site, if properly organized. Its good to see someone using this idea.

1/24/11 Yet another trailer for Power Rangers Samurai has been released.

1/23/11 The Power Rangers Online Hall of Fame is coming Feb. 21 , 2011...From 8 pm-11 pm eastern. The first class will be announced on that day. There will be a contest to give away a free RPM DVD ( international winners might have to pay shipping).

Stop by PRO Board on Feb. 7, 2011 (after the debut of Samurai), to discuss the first episode. One of the names for the Hall of Fame will be leaked.

1/23/11    Kieth Hayward of Henshin Justice Unlimited conducted an interview with former Story Editor and recent Executive Producer Judd Lynn. Its a very informative read.

The Judd Lynn Interview

Chris' Thoughts: This was an awesome interview oppertunity  for Kieth. As its been a long time since Judd Lynn has done an interview with fandom. He seems like a realist when it comes to the franchise. He gave the best advice I have ever seen for people looking to get into the TV business.

1/23/11 A press releases from Nickleodeon reveals that Power Samurai will debut on Feb. 7, 2011 at 8 pm Eastern. The premiere is on a Monday. Samurai will then air in its regular timeslot , sundays at 12 pm eastern. With a replay every Friday at 8 pm eastern. The Press Release refers to Samurai as the 19th season of Power Rangers.

"In the action-packed premiere episode, "The Team Unites," after Mike can't anticipate an attack like Kevin and Jayden, he grows frustrated and takes a break from training to meet up with old friends. But when a long-armed monster named Rofer attacks, Mike unsuccessfully attempts to fight him alone, and his friends are injured. Jayden and Mentor explain the hard truth that Samurai Rangers must stay away from family and friends in order to protect them from the dangers that are involved with being a Ranger. Inspired, Mike begins to take his role and training as a Samurai Ranger more seriously. With Jayden's help, Mike uses his training and creativity to anticipate Rofer's moves and defeats him. "

The Press Release

Chris' Thoughts: Sundays a noon sounds like an interesting timeslot. Feb. 7 looks to be an exciting day.

I don't like the idea of Samurai being called the 19th season. Since I don't like to consider MMPR remastered the 18th season. To me MMPR remastered is just a doctored up episode of the first season. Its like called the remastered Star Wars movies sequels.

The episode summery  doesn't make it  sound like a debut episode. Some people are speculating that the debut is actually going to be the second or third episode.

1/23/11 Rumors have being going around about possible guest appearances for Ricardo Medina Jr. Paul Schrier, and Jason Narvy on Power Rangers Samurai. Schrier and Narvy played Bulk and Skull in the early days of Power Rangers. Medina played Cole Evans, Red Wild Force Ranger. Its unclear weather Medina would play Cole or not.

The rumors started based on what is supposedly Medina's face book page. Where Samurai Cast members we're posting on. As well as Schrier himself. Medina also claimed to be in New Zealand at the time. The Hero Power Blog has the story.

1/23/11 Alex Heartman is going to play the Gold Samurai Ranger. This is old news. But PRO is catching up on all the news that we have missed.

http://www.samuraicast.com/cast/

1/23/11  Since PRO was last updates, several trailers on Power Rangers Samurai and its characters have been released by Nickelodoen.

Here is one of the early teaser trailers that Nickelodeon has released.

Here is the sneak peak that Nick released for Samurai back in November. It features the Samurai Rangers fighting a monster and some foot soldiers. The video shows us the morphing sequence and the new theme song.

Linear Ranger posted the Samurai Character Videos that aired on Nickelodeon recently. They profile the five separate Samurai Rangers.

Chris' Thoughts: Its very interesting to see that the new Samurai theme is actually a remix of MMPR's theme.

1/23/11 Power Rangers Online Message Board has upgraded to Vbulletin. Everyone is invited to jion. If you have ever had an account at one of our older boards, you should be able to log in. Anyone from the Ezboard or Yuku will have to register again.

Jion us for the Power Rangers Online Hall of Fame. Which will be held at the board on Feb. 21, 2011; from 8-11 eastern. A free RPM DVD will be up for grabs in a contest ( international users may have to pay shipping and handling)

11/4/10 The Power Rangers Samuari will appear in the Macy's Thanksgivening Parade.   Which will tie into the sneak peak on Nicktoons.  This will be the first public appearance for the Samuari Rangers. The parade will take place on Nov. 25. Credit: Saban Brands Press Release.

Power Rangers Online-The Power Is On In The Big Apple

Chris' Thoughts: Its unclear if they mean the actual Rangers or just people wearing the costumes. Hopefully, its the real actors.

11/4/10 Per an article from New York Times... It looks like Disney was under the impression that Saban was going to take Power Rangers to the upstart Hub Network. Only for Saban to go straight to Nick after the deal and make a quick deal with Nickelodean. Which would land the Power Rangers franchise on the network in 2011, as ...well as 700 episodes worth of reruns. Nick is currently a bigger competitor to Disney then the Hub is. The Hub is a rebranded version of the Discovery Kids Network, in a partnership with Hasbro. Power Rangers was recently bought from Disney by Haim Saban, for nearly 100 million dollars.

( The article is actually about the President of Nicklelodeon. The Power Rangers stuff is on the second page)

Making Sure Nickelodeon Hangs With the Cool Kids

Chris' Thoughts: Sounds like a pretty shrewd move by Saban here. Not sure if would have been a deal breaker or not though. Its interesting to wonder if Saban really did consider the Hub for awhile.

Its worth noting that Margaret Loesch is the President of ...the Hub Network. Who was President of Fox Kids in the earlier years. And was one of the key figures in getting Power Rangers on Fox Kids in the beginning. She was always a big supporter of the brand. She even was involved in Stan Lee's attempt to import Super Sentai years earlier.

Interesting to see them mention about the reruns airing in 2011. Which makes sense since they haven't aired in 2010, like was expected earlier.

11/4/10 A sneak peak for Power Rangers Samuari will air on Nov 25, 26, and 28. On Nov. 25, it will air at 9 pm. On Nov. 27, it will air at 10 pm (possibly a little before). On Nov 28, it will air at 9 am. Its unclear what exactly the preview will be. The three airings could be one preview that is aired three times or three dif...ferent previews. Credit the story to NickandMore and BurgundyRanger.

11/4/10 Chris Funaro made a good point about how Saban wouldn't have sold the music rights to Power Rangers, without having the rights to use the old music in the future.

11/4/10 Bug Music has purchased the publishing rights to the Saban Music Group's Library. Which will give the group control of the music of countless properties Saban owned or worked on when he owned Saban Entertianment. This includes the music rights to Power Ranger Rangers, Digimon, Spiderman, and more. Bug Music will market... the music world wide.

When Saban Entertainment was sold to Disney, Saban held onto the music group. Which kept him eligible for royalties when his music was used. Now after buying back the Power Rangers franchise, Saban has finally parted with the music group.

Mi2N.com - Bug Music Acquires Worldwide Rights To Saban Music Group's Publishing Catalog
Chris' Thoughts: Pretty ironic that the music rights are sold just after they we're reunited with the rest of the franchise, when Power Rangers was just bought back by Saban. But most people assume that Saban will have the rights to use the old music when he wants too. Which was an issue when Disney wanted to use the old songs. Most people assume that Saban made sure that there wouldn't be a problem.

11/1/10 An article at Kids Screen discusses more about Power Rangers Samurai. It mentions that there will be 40 new episodes but also mentions that Samurai will last two seasons. Saban Brands is planning on making the new season with a lighter tone then the previous seasons. The article also talks about Saban Brands' relations...hip with Bandai. As well as their plan to market the episodes of the show worldwide. Including the airing of the reruns. Whicare going to air on Nicktoons. The article was constructed from comments by Elie Dekel ( Saban Brands President).

Saban unveils Power Rangers Samurai - KidScreen

Chris' Thoughts: I find the comment about a lighter tone funny. Since Jungle Fury and RPM had plenty of lighthearted moments.

11/1/10 An article in Variety reveals that Power Rangers Samurai will last for two seasons. The core cast will stick around for the two years. The article also goes into how Saban Brands plans to take advantage of the online media. And mentions a possible feature film to come. Power Rangers Season 18 was announced in May. Orig...inally, as a 20 episode season. Later, Saban Brands announced that Nick had agreed to 40 episodes.

Chris' Thoughts: This is a surprise. It is unclear what they mean by two seasons. Will it just be 20 episodes of PR in 2011 and then another 20 in 2012? Many people seem to think that something like that could be the case. But we just don't know. I actually like the idea of trying to stretch out the story over two years. I'd rather have it over 80 episodes. But 40 episodes over two years is better then nothing.

11/1/10 Power Rangers Samurai is indeed the official title for Season 18 of Power Rangers. Which has been confirmed by the official Power Rangers Website. The names of the Rangers themselves have also changed. They will now be Jayden (Red), Kevin ( Blue) Mike (Green), Emily (Yellow), Mia ( Pink). The PowerRangers.com page also... has a summary of the season concept and profiles for each Ranger. Previously, Tony Oliver leaked the name on his website. But claimed that it was only a title he used personally.

Chris' Thoughts: It's actually not too surprising that the Samurai name ended up being the real thing, Its possible Tony only said it wasn't to cover up his link. Or perhaps it wasn't finalized.

11/1/10 Jion us on the PRO Message board for the Power Rangers Online Fandom Hall of Fame. Which will honor members of the fandom who have contributed great things. We will also feature the PRO Award for 2010. Which will spotlight the great work people are currently doing in the fandom. The date is Febuary 21, 2011. The actual... time for this is in flux but is currently set for 8 pm. The countdown begins. And of course you're always welcome at the Power Rangers Online Message Board anytime.

Power Rangers Online Message Board

11/1/10 Power Rangers season 18 will be shot with Red Cameras. Which means that it is going to be shot in HD. The Valencia Road Blog has the story.

11/1/10 Someone brought an interesting blog article to my attention. Celioguy writes about Zordon's Wave and why Ecliptor wasn't saved by the wave. I don't neccessarly agree with all his points but it is a great read. Just why Ecliptor was dusted by the wave is a big mystery about Countdown To Destruction.

11/1/10 A few months  back, word began to spread about a possible Power Rangers Convention to be run on the East Coast. Which sparked a debate on whether this would be a good idea. Swiftly the people behind the convention decided to put the idea hold for now. Since they didn't feel ready. Its possible something could happen, eve...n if it ends up being a multi-fandom type thing. Its worth noting that Erin Coplan was behind this idea. She served on the Morphicon 2 staff. The convention would have been called Morphinomicon.

Chris' Thoughts: I would like to see this thing get off the ground at some point. Sounds like they came foward too early. I hope they decide to go through with it.

If they can get legal permission to do a second convention and take the time to make sure it ...is done right. Its going to take a lot of work. Since being on the East Coast makes it hard to get guests. The whole reason Morphicon is in LA, is because thats where most of the cast and crew is based.

It would be a nice gift to Ranger fans who live on the East Coast. And Erin has experiance since she worked on Morphicon 2. So hopefully the cancellation is just a set back and they get something going.

11/1/10 For those of you looking for videos from Morphicon....The youtube thread on the official board of the convention should help. They have pages of youtube links. Which feature video from the various panels.

PosYoutube thread of the official board!

At Rangerboard, they have a nice picture thread that has pictures from Morphicon 2.

Rangerboard Thread

To continue in the Morphicon goodness, Rangercrew also has a thread for Morphicon Panel videos. I am sure some of those will overlap with the Morphicon board. But its worth noting.

11/01/10 Powerrangers.com finally points to a Saban Brands created website. The new official site features information on every season, promotional information, news, and wallpapers. They are streaming every episode of MMPR for 144 days ( one episode a day) . The domain remained pointed to the Disney Website for months after th...e sale to Saban Brands ( until the recent changeover).

Chris' Thoughts: Good to see the new site up. I like the layout a lot better. A lot of the profiles are actually from the Disney site. I just think the layout makes the site much more easy to navigate then the Disney site. Which tried to hard to be all high tech in my opinion. It should also be noted that they have the games from the Disney website as well.

11/01/10 Chynna put up an interesting blog comparing MMPR to Zyuranger. It was a good breakdown of the differences between the two. As well as their strength's and weaknesses.

MovieRanger is working with Rick Hilgner ( worked as a suite designer on the first Power Rangers Movie) to sell some molds of the movie White Rangers molds.

11/01/10 Mr.Kitchen of Rangerboard talked about his experience at Morphicon. He seemed to have fun. But was not happy about the fact that the actors charged for interviews this year. Some actors weren't charging people. But many others charged 10 dollars per signature. Kitchen wasn't sure how he felt about that. But did have f.un at the panels. It was reported by Morphicon Staff for several months that many of the actors would in fact be charging autographs. So it was no big secret. The first Morphicon had free autographs.

Chris' Thoughts: People have to remember that this is a business. Its not unheard of for actors to charge for autographs at a convention. Ten dollars is actually very reasonable. Some elsewhere have charged a lot more. Its nice that some of them didn't char...ge. But at the end of the day they are professionals. The actors are taking time to meet with the fans. While conventions usually pay for the lodging of the actors, it still makes sense for them to charge for interviews. Sometimes conventions allow actors to do this to lower the appearance fees. Ten dollars is not that much to ask.

8/30/10   Scott Page-Pagter was quoted on the Yost story by TMZ. Pagter claims that Yost did not leave the show over gay slurs. Pagter claims that it was a money issue. Yost was one of the three cast members that got bonuses on top of their regular pay. When the other two left the show, people in management wanted to take Yost'.s bonus away. Pagter remembers Yost as being a pain to deal with. He doesn't know why Yost is using homophobia as a reason for his departure.

David Yost claimed (in an interview with No Pink Spandex) that he left the show due to being harrassed for being gay. Claiming that members of the crew we're the source of the harrassment.

Scott Page-Pagter served as the ADR Director when Saban Entertainment oened the show. He continued through Wild Force, when he was laid off by Disney...With the rest of MMPR Productions. David Yost played Billy Cranston from MMPR to Zeo. He continues to work as a producer in Hollywood.

Chris' Thoughts:
Its worth noting that Scott Page-Pagter is a very respected former crew member. Plus a lot of what he says jives with some of the rumors the fandom has heard about Yost before this. Pagter hasn't been involved with the show for several yea...rs. So he should have no agenda here.

It doesn't mean that we have to not believe David either. Just try to examine both sides before you make an opinion.

8/30/10  The Black Nerd Comedy Show did a funny video with Selwyn Ward.  The video started out semi serious but went comedic when the host brought up Ward playing the first black leader of the Power Rangers. Ward then started to take credit for the success of other African Americans. Including Barack Obama becoming President and Jaden Smith playing a black karate kid. The interview was obviously intentionally for laughs and over the top. So shouldn't be taking seriously. It was a clever sketch though.

8/30/10   Some videos have surfaced from the Anime Festival Orlando. There is a two part video of a panel for Jason David Frank and David Yost.  Which is David Yost's first convention panel since leaving the show.

part 1

part 2

8/28/10  Fury Diamond of Rangercrew..... Posted some good pictures for day one of Morphicon.

8/28/10   Overdrive.92 of Rangercrew posted about his experiences at Morphicon. He posted about them after the first day. He got to go see panels with Judd Lynn, Tracy Lynn Cruz, Erin Cahill and more. Lynn said that he tried to get Disney to keep Eddie on and thought that "Ranger Green" ( an Eddie Episode) was one of   his favorite episode of Power Rangers. Overdive though Erin Cahill was real nice. Overdrive noticed that every panel was being filmed for later release to fans that couldn't go to the convention.

8/28/10 A few PR fans have had an opertunity to talk to Tony Oliver. Overdrive .92 of Rangercrew learned that the Power Rangers Samuari title may not be the actual title of season 11. Oliver just took it from it from IMBD.  Which means the title could very well be made up. Oliver also told Overdtive that the Ranger names are still not final. So the names reported previously might not stick.

Go to see his post on the subject

TheVileOne got more interesting information out of Oliver. Oliver's title is that of a Production/Story Consultant. He teased some surprises in the cast but did drop any hints about what he meant. Oliver mentioned that season 11 will be true to the Japanese version. he mentioned that the Gold Ranger is a wierd but fun character.

Here is his post on the subject

Chris' Thoughts: So Power Rangers Samuari might not be the title afterall. It will be interesting to see if the Ranger  names do end up being different from the names we got before.

Its good to know what Tony's role on the show is officially going to be.  Some fans are worried that he means that Season 11 will be a direct adaption of Shurkenger. But its too soon to think that. As Olivers comment about the show being faithfull to the Japanese version  could have meant a few different things. It will be interesting to see just who the Gold Ranger is.
9/26/10 The NPS interview of David Yost is getting mainstream press. TMZ, EW Pop, and other publications have picked up the story of him being homosexual and leaving the show due to being harrassed. The Advocate Website is scheduled to have an interview with Yost in the next week.

Chris's Thoughts: Its too bad that the media seems to be sensationalizing this story. There was a lot more to the interview then Yost leaving the show for Gay Harrassment. Yost seemed genuine and came off as someone just being honest. The talked about alot of other subjects. Its amazing to see how uninformed some people can be.

The TMZ story makes it sound like he was sucidial while he was on the show. Which he said happened after. They also mention contacting Saban Entertainment for no comment. Saban Entertainment is gone, its Saban Brands.  The assertion that this is breaking news is laughable. Just because he is gay? I guess youi could make a case that the harrasment allegations make it important. But it just seemed like TMZ sensationalized the story. EW Pop did do a balenced report at least.

The bottom line is that it really doesn't matter if David Yost is gay. He deserves to be treated like a person. Its awful he had to deal with what he had to deal with. I'm just glad that he has found peace and made a nice carreer for himself. Yost promoted the Trevor Project is a place for homosexuals in conflict to contact for help.

9/26/10  Lisa J's was able to conduct an interview with David Yost for No Pink Spandex. This happened at the Orlando Anime Convention 2010 The two part interview talked about Yosts background, his start in acting, and how he got into Power Rangers. Yost aparently auditioned to be Jason at first but changed when he felt he was better off reading for Billy. Yost talks about how it was his ideas that made Billy start to dress regular and  to wear contacts instead of glasses.  In Part 2, Yost talks about making the Power Rangers Movie and how big it seemed at the time. He talks about some cut scenes with the Rangers training to earn their Ninjetti Spirits. Yost talks about how Saban seemed to like the idea of changing casts like Sentai. But David feels like keeping a cast around longer would be for the best. He praised Nick as a partner for Power Rangers. The interview got serious, when Yost talked about why he really walked of the set. Members of the crew  used gay slurs against him. He faced harrassment for being homosexual.  He decided to walk off the set rather then face that. Yost talks about how he went through a difficult time after that. Where he had to come to terms with who he really was. But Yost has found peace now. Yost talks about his transition to working behind the camera . He gives advice to people who are having trouble dealing with the fact that they are different.

8/26/10   Tony Oliver's webpage credits him as a writer for Power Rangers Samuari. Which seems to indicate that it is the title for Power Rangers 2011. Its possible that it could be a working title that can be changed. But there is a very real possibility that it is  official title.

8/22/10  A deleted scene from Time Force has showed up on the web. It is from the Distiny episodes ( when Alex comes back and Wes has to take over for his ailing father). It shows Eric quitting the Silver Guardians. Which makes Eric trying to leave in "Destiny Defeated" make more sense. Its a well acted scene that really ads to the dynamic of the two characters. Go to the youtube video..

8/22/10  Bandai America has sent out a press release about Morphicon. Which kicks off next weekend. August 27-29, to be exact. Looks like there will be plenty of cast and crews as guests. The last Morphicon was said to be fun. And this one looks more organized. Read the press release on Naks Power Rangers.

8/22/10 The Morphing Legacy Blog is looking for writers. Its a good blog to read. As they cover varius issues going on in Power Rangers.

8/22/10  Kamen Rider Legacy is a great Kamen Rider website. It has a comprehensive database. It has an episode guide and plenty of high quality images. The site is run by the current owner of PRC. Its a very well put together website.

8/22/10  Dukemon brings us an interesting rumor about Super Sentai 2011. Word is that it might involve the new Sentai team interacting with older Sentai teams. This would be to celebrate the 35th year of Super Sentai. This concept would be similar to the one used for Kamen Rider Decade. Where Decade wound up traveling to diff...erent demensions to meet Kamen Riders of the past. But its important to note that this is just a rumor. Crazy Sentai rumors have come out in the past that have led to nothing. Dukemon is a good source, but even he says this is a rumor. If the rumor ended up being true, it would diffinitly make PR 2013 interesting. Which would just happen to be the shows 20th anniversy.

8/22/10 I imported the VR Troopers Message Board for VRO into the Power Rangers Online Message Board. It just made more sense to combine the two. Since VRO MB had no activity and PRO BOard could use the help.

Power Rangers Online Message Board has gotten some new members recently. And some itneresting discussions have sprung up about Power Rangers and VR Troopers.  The board will probably never be a huge hub in its current form. But it could become a good place to discuss the PRU without a lot of distractions. This also includes the VRU now.

8/22/10  On August 16th , Archie Kao appeared at USC to answer questions about a role in an independent film called "The People I Slept With". Just a warning that the play has adult subject matter and humor. Admission to this Q and A was free.

8/22/10  Linkara has been doing some great work on his History of Power Rangers series. Which chronicles the history of every season in video format. Linkara gives his views and opinions on each season. He also gives us a overview of the main plots of the seasm. He is currently up to Time Force.

Linkara is a comic book reviewer on the web. He was a Power Rangers fan growing up. So he has decided to take a look back on the show. He watched up to Space and a few episodes once in awhile after. He is watching the seasons he missed for the first time ( sans a few episodes). Here  is the the page to stream the reviews.  You can download the videos here.

8/22/10  Peta Rutter Passed away in July. She had been sick with a brain tumor. Rutter is best know to Power Rangers fans for her role as Udonna in Power Rangers Mystic Force. She was a vetran actor. I'd like to wish her family well and that Rutter rests in peace.

http://www.nzonscreen.com/person/peta-rutter
8/07/10 The new cast for season 18 of Power Rangers has been announced. Alex Heartman will play Reese, the Red Ranger. Najee-De-Tiege will play Baron, the Blue Ranger. Hector David Jr. will play Perry, the Green Ranger. Erika Fong will play Sadie, the Pink Ranger. Brittany Pirie will play Ava, the Yellow Ranger. Steven Skylar will play Wesley, the Gold Ranger. No word yet on who will play Princess Megan. Credit: Ranger Wisdom.

09/07/10  Tony Oliver has returned to the Power Rangers franchise. He will be a writer on season 18 of Power Rangers.  It is unclear just how much power he may have. But he is on staff.

Oliver was very invovled in the creation of MMPR and essentially a co-creator of Power Rangers.Oliver was the supervising producer  for the first few seasons of MMPR. Which basically made him the first Story Editor.  Oliver remained with the show for a few more seasons  as a consultant

Oliver also did work as a Voice Artist for Power Rangers. He was the Megazord Vioce and the vioce of Saba.  Oliver is best known for his work as the voice of Rick Hunter in Robotech. But he has plenty of behind the scenes experiance.

Credit: Tony Oliver, who confirmed this on Echofon. Rangerwisdom posted the news  on Rangerboard.

8/07/10   Power Rangers had a presense at Comicon last week.  The reruns will start on Nick in October. DVDs were handed out contain the Day of the Dumpster episode of MMPR. Which of course was the first episode of Power Rangers itself. The cover had the original MMPR logo. The episode was from the orginal Power Rangers, not the revision that aired on Disney. Credit this to Linear Ranger and the  article he  did on his website.

7/26/10  Marvista is going to be in charge of the International Destribution of the Power Rangers Video Library. Which just means it will sell rights to air the show to international networks. Or manage existing deals. Its unclear if this means there will be a push to air more old episodes overseas. Saban Brands of course owns Power Rangers. So Marvista is working on their behalf.  Credit this story to Variety .

7/26/10  I want to give a plug to the Valencia Road Blog. Which helped me find the last few newsbytes.  It is a fine blog that posts updates on various Power Rangers news.

7/26/10   Delays in of the Hobbit movie production in Wellington,  New Zealand have led to alot of production personal moving north. Alot of them are signing three  year contracts to work on the Power Rangers series. This could negatively effect the economy in Wellington. Go to the article on  Stuff.co.nz.   Who are the sources for this story. ( It should be noted that the article was posted in June).

Power Rangers has filmed in New Zealand since 2002. Production was halted in 2009. Due to the cancellation of the show. But the planned revival is bringing production back to the region.

7/26/10   Casting Sides aquired by Joe Rovang indicate that their maybe some Bulk and Skull like Characters in season 18. They are named Skinny Mack and Big Jack. Visit Henshin Justice   to view the sides.
7/26/10   Ranger Wisdom has a source telling him that casting for season 18 of Power Rangers may be winding down. Jonathon Tzachor has flown in. They are doing final calls for the male Rangers. The female leads and other characters should be next. Irish Hampton has a lot of canidates. Once these canidates are pared down, screen tests should begin. One actress trying out to be Princess Megan put on a well put together sword display. Go to Ranger Wisdom's post.

7/26/10  I have obtained the files to the old PRN website. I am have put it up on a new domain.  This will be a separate project from PRO.  And will not effect out network of sites.

Power Rangers Network was a major website from 2002- to rought 2006.  Updates became scare around the time of DinoThunder. There was a brief  redesign for SPD and some updates. But it didn't go very far. This version is actually before the SPD redesign. Since it has more content. Go to the site by clicking  here.

I have also aquired the orginal Power Rangers Network Message Board. Its the proboards version, before they went Vbulletin. I have taking over as admin. And am trying to get the board active. Similar to the PRO Board situation. However, this will not effect PRO Board in any way. Go to the board by clicking   here.

The Power Rangers Network Vbulletin was arguably more successful then the PRN site itself. It was at one point the second biggest forum in the fandom  It survived on a few extra years as Ranger Power. But has since been closed. Its possible the vbulletin version could be restored at a later time. But for now the proboard is being used. .

7/26/10  ShadowJungleRanger of Rangerboard is working on a short fan video to document the history of the Power Rangers tv show. Done similar to the style of the one Tommy did in "Legacy of Power". He is looking for fan help and feedback. Here is the thread at Rangerboard. Visit his blog

7/26/10   Watermark of Rangerboard has descovered a recent photo of Tracy Lynn Cruz. Cruz protrayed Ashley in Power Rangers Turbo and Power Rangers In Space. Also appearing in two episode of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Her first role as a show was as an extra during "I'm Dreaming Of A White Ranger". Which was the Christmas themed episode in season 3.  Go to Rangerboard to see the picture.

7/26/10 I've made some changes to the PRO Forums. I have changed the default Skin to something more modern.  The old skin is still available for use though. I added a skin chooser function. So you can actually choose from a few different skins. I've added a page translation option. Which will allow you to translate the board into various languages. This could help international Power Rangers fans translate the board into their native language. I have also added a shoutbox on the bottom of the board.  Enjoy!

7/26/10   Some fans of Blake Foster have started a facebook page to lobby to get him back on Power Rangers. Blake protrayed Justin Stewart during Power Rangers Turbo. The first kid Ranger.  Foster also appeared in an episode of Power Rangers In Space. Foster has played in other roles since then. He played in a made for tv Brady Bunch Movie. Foster is now in his 20s. The Facebook Page is here.

7/26/10   Ron Wasserman made a post on Rangerboard. Making it official that he will not be doing any music for the upcoming 18th season of Power Rangers. He got the word from Jonathon Tzachor himself.

Wasserman did the music for the early seasons of Power Rangers. Which  included a lot of fight songs . He did the opening them for SPD more recently. Some fans hoped Saban's buyout of the franchise would lead to the return of Ron. But that is not happening. Go here to read Ron's post.

7/9/10  Jason David Frank, Daniel Southworth, Tony Oliver, and David Yost will be appearing at the Orlando Anime Festival. The convention will take place August 5, 2010 thru August 8, 2010. Go their  page    for more info.

7/9/10   The Holywood Reporter has an article that mentions Haim Saban's possible plans for the next Power Rangers season. It mentions that Saban might want to take Power Rangers in a more comedic tone in between the action scenes. Also he will focus on making the series a hit again, before worrying about a possible movie. The article is a series of blurbs. The Saban PR stuff is the second one done. Go to the article for more information.

7/9/10 Carey Martell is working on an independent film that will pay homage to Power Rangers and Kamen Rider. Martell has a Kickstar page to collect donations for the budget for the film. The donation drive will last for roughly a month. The goal is 6,000 dollars.   If 6,000 dollars is not reached, no one will have to pay any money.  Go to the Kickstar Page  for more information on how it all works. Including a video Martell put together.

7/9/10  The RPM section  is now more or less complete. The story page, villian page, ranger page, arsenal page,   zord page, and episode guide are complete. More pictures could be added later. As well as additions and revisions. There was a glitch that caused the RPM Section not to come up right on some browsers. I believe that had been fixed. Go to the RPM Section.

6/17/10   The RPM section is still under construction. If you haven't visited it in awhile, you probably will notice some differences. The episode guide is under construction and an update is ready to be uploaded asap.  The section is starting to come along and should be relatively complete soon. Go to the RPM Section.

6/17/10   The Backstage Pass Section has been updated. The Behind the Scenes Story section has been updated. The Fast Facts have been reorginized into a subsection. A Fandom history page has been added. As well as a Cast and Crew Sub Section. The Cast and Crew Subsections are under construction.  Go to the Backstage Pass Section.

6/17/10  The latest Ranger Radio episode is up.  Adam, Chris, Mega Sentai, and another caller discussed the Saban buyout of Power Rangers. As well as its effect on the future for the brand and Saban Brands itself. Which made for a fun hour of radio. Beware of 30 second of dead air during the opening lines. But the conversation continued  pretty well for the rest of the show. Go here to stream or download the episode.

6/11/10   The annual licensing show went down in Las Vegas. We didn't get a title for a new season and they seemed to promote the reruns more. However,it was announced that the new season will be  comprised of 40 episodes. Which is the highest episode count since Wild Force. Also Power Rangers will be on seven days a week. Most assume that just means that the reruns will air all week. MegaSentai  of Rangerboard has posted a youtube video of the Power Ranger's presentation. Go to see it here.

Power Rangers episode counts have continually gone down over the years. Once they were always in the 40s. But After Wild Force then went down to 38. Mystic Force brought the count down to 32. Where it stayed for a few years. Orginally, it was announced that the new season would be 20 episodes. But now its set to get 40 episodes.

The annual licensing show is for tv shows and other brands to sell their properties to advertisers. In the past the convention has been held in New York. Ray Calderon ( former webmaster of PRC and former owner of Rangerboard)  attended for several years in a row.  Often times being the first to  break the news on the new season. But PR has gotten less exposure at the show in recent years. This year ir probably the biggest presentation it has had in a few years ( or at least the most newsworthy). The convention itself has moved to Las Vegas. Meaning that Ray and a lot of the normal fan attendees couldn't go.

6/11/10  Saban Brands now has a Power Rangers section on its website. Its mainly to promote the brand. But there is a nice promotional video on the page. Powerrangers.com still points to the Disney Power Rangers site. It remains to be seen just what will happen to that domain.

6/11/10 Ranger Radio is back this Monday at 8 pm eastern ( June 14). Adam and Chris will discuss Saban buying back Power Rangers and the future of the brand. As well as other things in the news. Ranger Radio is a live call in radio show. You can call into listen and even contribute by pressing 1 on you're phone. You can also listen to the show on the podcast page. Or even listen to it after the fact. The call in number is (347)  845-5571. Its a New York number. So check with you're phone company if that means any additional fees for you. Go to the podcast page. Rangerradio is an affilate of Power Rangers Online.

6/06/10   Casting Sides for the new season of Power Rangers are up for sale. They are intended for the use  for actors interested in auditioning for the season. But they are available for anyone to buy. You're just not supposed to share them with anyone else. Each casting side goes for a few bucks a piece. It gives us a good peak into the new season. But its important to note that a lot of these casting sides  aren't from real scenes.  So they shouldn't be taking as gospel. Go here to buy the sides.

6/06/10  A PR firm representing Max Con, has  sent out a press release for their 2010 convention. There will be a Power Rangers panel there. Karen Ashley, Walter Jones, Steve Cardenas, and Catherine Sutherland will be attending.   The convention is being held on July 1st; at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles. Read the press release for futher information.

6/01/10 Power Rangers Online now has a facebook page. The Yahoo Group will remain open. But I will now promote the Facebook page as our main group. With the changes in the times, its makes much more sense to use facebook.  This does not effect our message board. With will remain on Yuku. Here is the  facebook page .

6/01/10 Power Rangers Online is having a minor domain change.  Update you're  bookmarks to http:///www.powerrangersonline.com.  If you link to PRO in you're link section, please update you're link.   The current domain ( powerrangersonline.org) will still lead to a mirror site to PRO. And will eventually be parked on the .com. I would just prefer that everyone update their bookmarks to the .com.  This has been in the works for years. I aquired the .com a few years ago. It has mostly been a mirror site of this page since then . Which just means its an exact copy of this site. I have been slowly trying to switch domains to the  .com. without loosing too much  momentum. Now I am actively hyping the name change and starting to get links to the .org changed to the .com.  The transition should be seemless. Since the old address will still work.

5/23/10  It seems that  casting sides have leaked for the new season of Power Rangers. They give character names as well as backgrounds for them ( keep in mind these things could be changed for the actual show. The sheets say that cast members would have to relocate to New Zealand for several months. Seemingly confirming that production will resume in New Zealand  and not in the states. It also seems that they will adapt Shinkenger for their source footage. The Range names announced are Reese, Baron, Sadie, Ava, and Wesley. A character named Megan is listed as a Princess. .  Go to Gaijinside  to read the information.  The orginal story was broken by Rangerzro of Rangerboard ( it was later confirmed after some doubts).  Here is the official page for this ( you will need to register to see).

5/23/10   Nickelodeon as released a press release officially announcing Power Rangers arrival to the network.... And that the new season that will begin production over the summer of 2010. No Pink Spandex has a copy of the press release here.

5/23/10  Rangercast has put up a new episode specifically about the Saban PR buyout and PR's return. Among the guests are Tyler Waldman, Chris Funaro, Derik Smith, Ryland Duncan, and others.  They discuss the back story of the buyout, what it means for the future of the franchise, and many other tidbits. Its a very interesting podcast. I suggest given it a listen. Its very informative. Click here to go to the Rangercast  website.

5/23/10 The New Yorker as wrote an interesting piece on the life of Haim Saban. It discusses his bussines techniques, how he got started, his political views, and how he came ot create Power Rangers. Its a very facinating read. That gives you insight into just who Haim Saban is. You also see the brillance of the deal he put together to sell  the Fox Family Channel to Disney ( circa 2001). Go to the New Yorker's website to read the article

5/23/10  Bandai America released a press release officially announcing its new deal with Saban Brands to continue  producing Power Rangers toys. They also announce that they  now have the video gaming rights as well. They have provided PRO with a copy of the official press release. Which you can view here.

5/23/10 Aaron has started his own campaign to jion the cast of the new Power Rangers season. He has created an audition tape and posted it on youtube. Aaron was once the webmaster of Delta Command. And designed the current layout for this website. He currently runs Aarowned.com

5/15/10  Tristianism of Hero Power has written an interesting blog about the potential Sentai Power Rangers could use for the new season. He compares the pros/cons of going with Shinkenger or Goseiger.  Its all speculation on his part but it is an interesting read.  Go h to Hero Power to  read the blog.

5/15/10  Saban Brands has negociated a new long term deal with Nameco Bandai  to produce new Power Rangers video games. No specific games have been announces as of now. ( Credit: Euro Gamers)

5/15/10   Just some more notes on the aquistion on the Saban/PR  Aquistion that wasn't
included in the article ( they are from the same Holywood Reporter article that I sourced for are story).  Saban supposedly bought Power Rangers for close to 100 million. No official comment has been made. Saban renewed the Toy Deal with Bandai to  continue making Power Ranger toys. ( Credit: Holywood Reporter)

5/12/10    Haim Saban  has re-aquired the rights to  Power Rangers Franchise from Disney.  Twenty new episodes are slated for 2011....... Which are set to  air on the  Nickelodeon and Nicktoons Cable Networks. Reruns of the past seasons will also begin airing. Jonathon Tzachor is set to return as Showrunner. The sale includes  includes alll episodes, dvd/video rights, trademarks, ect... Power Rangers will now fall under the Saban Brands umbrella ( a new company Saban as set up)  Toei will continue to co-own the franchise, as it always has.  (Credit: Holywood Reporter)

10/16/09 Ranger Web Portal has been on hatius for awhile. That hatius is coming to an end now. Ranger Web Portal acts as a guide to the Power Rangers fandom. Presenting daily Power Rangers news throughout the fandom. Go here to visit the site.

10/16/09  The rumors of Disney remastering MMPR have been proven true. It has been announced that a remastered MMPR will begin airing on ABC Kids in January 2010. Basically taking the timeslot of RPM ( which finishes its run in Deciember). Meaning that the Power Rangers brand will continue post cancellation. Bandai will release a new MMPR toyline to conincide with this. It is unclear what remastering will entail. It could mean remastering the Sentai footage and possibly some edits. It is also unclear how much of MMPR will air.

MMPR has been rerun on Fox Kid , Toon Disney ( now Disney XD), and MMPR family in the past. It was most recently aired as part of the Power Rangers Generations block. Which aired on ABC Family and Toon Disney at various times. Which also featured many other former seasons. This was discontinued to due to royality issues. An uncut version of MMPR has been release via DVD in Germany. But no MMPR box sets have been released in the United States. Go to Rangercrew  for more info.

( This move makes a lot of sense. Now that Power Rangers is over, its only a matter of time before MMPR nostalgia kicks in. It smart stratagy to start showing the old MMPR episodes again. Captilizing on this with a toyline is smart from Bandai's prespective. Its probably cheaper to pay the actors and Saban ( for the old music cues) royalties.  I am surirpsied that this thing isn't airing on DisneyXD. But I suppose that there is a possibility that it could, since we haven't heard either way. Perhaps this could lead to DVD box sets in the future. But thats just speculation.

I am  interested to see just how much is edited. Disney's Standard's and Practices is a lot tougher then the old Fox Kids Standards and Practices. Which is why we don't get as much unmorphed fighting and a lot of explosions to cover up the banned blows. MMPR featured a lot of martial arts ( unmorphed) battles between the Rangers and the putties. It will be interesting to see if they let them air without editing those old battles. Any improvements to the old Zyuranger will be interesting to follow as well. )

9/12/09 I have been given the opertunity to review the latest RPM DVD, "RPM Volume 2: Race For Corinth". Which is currently on sale at most retail stores. This included online stores. The following is my reviews along with some video clips, provided by a pr agency connected to Disney. I highly recommond the DVD. But read my review in full here.

8/31/09  Disney has purchased Marvel Comics. Which gives them power over the comic book company and all its characters. This also means Marvel Studios is also a subdidary to Disney.  Its unclear how this will effect the Power Rangers brand if at all. Read more about this here  ( from Scifiwire).

( This move makes sense for Disney is a lot of ways. They have always lacked a diverse amoung of boy brands. This gives them the character rights to roughly 5,000 characters. Not to mention the big potential the movie rights will bring. Marvel Studios should benefit from thsi merger , as they now have a huge backer in Disney.

Of course the only problem is that  Spider Man and X-men 's film rights are under the control of other companies. But Disney still gets a cut of the profits. Just not as much as the in house Marvel Studios properties.

This is just speculation. But Power Rangers would seem like a good fit within the Marvel Studios umbrella someday. With Disney now owning Marvel, this now becomes a plausible possibility. With PR heading into cancellation and the inevitable nostalgia revival, this move could make sense in a few years. A Power Rangers Movie produced by Marvel Studios could do good bussiness. But again, this is just speculation on my  part. )

08/31/09  Other fandom bussiness that we missed during our recent several month downtime..... PRE has closed down for good it seems. Odd Sentai ( a former associate of Mesogog) seems interested in starting  a new board of some type......Rangertalk is slowly moving to Otaku Hero Acess......Starpoints Rangercast  has changed its name to Starpoints Rangercrew. To clear up the confusion with the Rangercast Podcast.

8/31/09   Power Morphicon will be taking place in the Summer of 2010.  It will take place in LA, at a undisclosed time and location. An official site has been set up with a Message Board. That is the best place to discuss convention news.

Power Morphcion is the will ever Power Rangers Convention. The first took place in LA, during the summer of 2005. The official sanctioned convetion was a success. The new Morphicon is under new management , but maintians the spirit of the orginal.

8/31/09  The RPM Giveaway Contest has ended. We we're able to raise seven dollars for the Jimmy Fund. Not  a lot of money, but every bit counts. I am going to make sure that money goes to the Jimmy Fund. I encourage everyone to go to the official Jimmy Fund website and donate. Especially if you we're leary of donating to me as a third party.   This wouldn't be for any contest, but it would be a nice gesture.  I would like to thank Click Communications for given me the opertunity to do this contest. Remember, RPM Volume 2: Race For Corinth will be released on DVD.... Tuesday Septiember 8, 2009. I will be posting a review of the DVD early next week.

8/24/09 A company associated with the release of the RPM Volume 2: Race For Corinth, has given Power Rangers Online the opertunity to host a DVD giveaway contest. The winner will get a free copy of the new RPM DVD as well as  the previous DVD ( RPM Volume 1).

The details are as followed. Participants will donate a undisclosed amount of money that PRO will donate to the Jimmy Fund ( which is a charity the Boston Red Sox run to help kids with cancer). The fan with the biggest donation will win the DVD. If there is a tie the winner will be the one who donated first. The deadline for bidding will be Sunday at 12 pm. Any one who sends money after this point will have their money returned and will not be included in the contest.

Please note the Power Rangers Online has no affilation to Disney or the Jimmy fFund. We are simply  acting as a third party that will send donations to them fromt eh money generated by this contest. Here is the contest page.

8/24/09 Judd Lynn's half of RPM has begun  to air. Marking the end of the tenure of Eddie Gruizzlian ( although some of the draft's Judd's crew completed could have been rough scripts worked on during Eddie's regime).

Judd Lynn  was one time the Story Editor during Space-Time Force. He worked as a writer, directior, and production manager prior to that period. He worked as a scab during the scond half of Jungle Fury.

When Eddie Gruzzilian was fired during the producion of RPM. Judd Lynn was brought into replace him until the end of production

( This issue created a big debate over the future quality of RPM episodes. Some fans and sources decried that the second half of RPM was not going to be true to Eddie's vision. But it has come out since then that Judd's half was in fact well done in its own way. Since the new episodes have aired there hasn't been any marked drop in quality at all.

Its clear Judd is going to go in a different direction from Eddie's ideas for the second half. But its impossible to do things Eddie's way,  he was fired. Judd's direction will most likely be true to the first half of RPM and will be good in its own way.

With most of the backstory being fleshed out in  Eddie's episodes, there really isn't much for Judd to mess up. And the fandom has faith in him, due to his long tenure with the show. Lynn is considered one of the best writers in the show's history).

8/24/09   Bandai is aparently dismantling their Power Rangers toy divison. Only a small freelance team will handle the Power Rangers brand going foward. This  is according to Funadodo at Henshin Justice Unlimited. This  thread  at Rangercrew talks about Bandai's problems with the PR Brand. Which seems relevent to this.

( This move came off surprising to me, As I was very certian that Bandai was going to keep producing the toys even with the show cancelled. But now knowing that Bandai has been having trouble with the  toys, it isn't such a big shock Its possible the toyline will continue in some form, perhaps in the form of the Super Legends brand. But that isn't a certainity in any form. I would assume the brand would return eventually though. There is too much long term potential with the Power Rangers brand ).

8/24/09  Tony Oliver  has heard that Disney may re-air an edited version of MMPR  season 1-3.  Its unclear just what would be edited or how they would get around the SAG  and music fees issues. Its not even a certianity that this will happen. Go to  Rangercrew for more information. This thread at Rangercrew is also helpful ( orginal source: Tyler Waldman from Rangercast, who recored an ACNE Convention Panel where Tony Oliver spoke.)

Saban Entertainment made a deal with the Screen Actors Guild that made the show union and promised that the Non-Union actors from prior seasons would  be compensated with re-run Royalites. So everytime MMPR airs, the actors would have to get royalities for their appearances. This isn't an issue with NS-RPM, since the show  went non Union at that point. It only effects MMPR-WF ( Wild Force was owned by Disney but still union).

When Saban Entertainment sold the franchise to Disney they retianed the Music rights to the years it owned the show. So every time reruns air Saban must get  royalities. These become more expensive when the music airs in a new episode ( which is why they don't use the old music outside of clips of old episodes).

Tony Oliver is the former Supervising Producer of Power Rangers. He was in charged during the first few seasons.  He is considered one of the co-creators of Power Rangers  by many fans. He has done Voice Over work for the series. He is also very famous for his role as Rick Hunter in Robotech.

8/24/09 Since out last update some very major news has broke ( It broke months ago). Power Rangers has been cancelled . There has literally be an ton of information on this and plenty of rumors to boot.  I feel I should at least do a quick summery of the situration (  and point people in the direction to get  the information that has been released during the many months) . I suspect many of you already know about this. Go to the the Starpoints Rangercrew, End of Power Rangers forum ,  to track the timeline on this. This thread on Funaroboard should help as well.

Power Rangers has been a money loser for Disney since they bought brand. Ninja Storm- SPD did well in the ratings  and toy sales were more stable.  Production costs were cut considerably when production was  moved to New Zealand. But ratings and toy sales started to come down steaply during Mystic Force.  Production costs became more expensive in New Zealand. Making it more expsneisve to film. At the end of the day Disney put a lot of money into Power Rangers that they weren't getting a return on.

Power Rangers fans became suspecious when RPM seemed missing from the new Disney XD line up ( or all Power Rangers for that matter).  RPM was going to be exclusive to the ABC Kids Block with no real fanfare. We soon learned from MR-Aftershock and Power Animals that there sources had been telling them that RPM was to be the last season. News articles from a New Zealand newspaper and the New York Times confirmed that the show had indeed been cancelled.  ( It should be pointed out the Jetix Europe was a huge reason why RPM was made in the first place)

Eddie Gruzzilan (Executive Producer for Power Rangers RPM's first  half) mentioned that he was told it was going to be the last season going into production of RPM. Disney or Bandai have never officially confirmed the end of the show.

( The writing was pretty much on the while when RPM was relegated to being ABC Kids exclusive , in a medicore timeslot. RPM also got no real promotion at all. Which seemed to show that RPM was going to be a lame duck season.  Despite a few naysayers, no one was surprised when more tangible sources started to come out about this.

I can't say I blame Disney for cancelling  the show.  They tried to make the brand work for several years. And lost lots of money. Disney accidently bought the brand during the Saban/Fox  Family aquisition. A deal in which they wound up losing billions. Power Rangers is a boy brand, where Disney has little experiance with. In this economy Disney can't justify spending the money to produce the show.

I think it is important to remember that big time brands get cancelled and come back all the time. Transforms and GI Joe come to mind. Power Rangers has never had the hatius that those brands have had from TV.  Nostalgia is a very powerful thing and the Power Rangers brand still had long term value to Disney. It will not be gone forever. In whatever form it returns in.)

8/24/09 The newsbytes below that we're dated 3/11/09 were just uploaded today. The 3/11/09 date was when I started working on the newsbyte. I left this date on them, to show that its old news. Unfortunately news updates have been non existant. I want to get back on track.

3/10/09 ( Please keep in mind that I wrote this newsbyte back in March and never uploaded it.)   Eddie Guzzielan has surfaced on Starpoints Rangercast to  tell his side of the story. He claims that rumors of him going over budget and micromanaging everything were greatly exgerated. Read the following  interview.

He says that he had no control over the budget .  And didn't micromanage the show,. he had a lot of help from the great cast and crew.  He also did not  ignore Disney's memos. He claims to have had good contact with the Disney execs.  He admits to falling dangerously behind on scripts. But he  worked out a plan to get out of the whole and got caught up by the time he was fired. But he doesn't deny that it could have had a hand in his firing. He isn't sure exactly why he was terminated.

He also claims that Disney wanted him to go in a darker and more mature direction.  And seemed to support him as he went on. He claims that RPM isn't as dark as some people think. He was more calling back to the old Science Fiction movies of the 80s and wanted to make it fun. He made it about the last group of humans fighting for survival to bring the takes higher for the older fans.

He claims that he didn't let Judd Lynn on the writers staff because some of the writers were unhappy that he worked on Jungle Fury as a scab. Eddie didn't know that the scab was Judd Lynn at the time, who he was familar with as a writer on PR. He wished Judd Lynn the best during Jungle Fury's second half and knows that he was put in a bad position  taking over for him.

Eddie Guzzlians was Execuctve Producer for the first half fo RPM. He  was terminated midway into the show's run  and replaced with Judd Lynn. Rumors of his dismissal stated that he tried to micromanage everything and went dangerously close to being overbudget. Also his scripts were aparently  falling behind production.  There was anlso a rumor with him not wanting Judd Lyunn on Staff because he was a scab at the end of Jungle Fury,. Eddie of course has tried to dispell this rumors.

(This was written months after the newsbyte ( 8/24/09).  Eddie's story really is very similar to the rumors he was trying to debunk. It all really comes down to prespective. I am sure Eddie had good intentions and this is how he saw things from his end. There diffinitly had to be budget and production issues going on. Disney has never fired an Exec mid season since they bought the show. But Eddie did a good job with RPM"s first half and is a good writer. I wish him the best. I do think all the talk badmouthing Judd Lynn's half of RPM was way overblown. I think both halfs of RPM will be good in their own way.   )  Click here for the interview at Rangercrew. )

3/10/98  ( This story was supposed to be uploaded months ago so its ols news now) Its worth noting that Skylar Deloen was in fact the actor who played Roger in "A Second Chance". That was the orginal rumor but then it came out that  he was an extra  in MMPR.  PRO actually repeated the Roger rumor. Only to issue an apology once it was thought that Deloen was just an extra. But now thanks to a 20/20 special, its been confirmed that Deloen actually did play Roger in "A Second Chance".

Skylar Deloen was convicted of murdering a couple on their yhact. A frenzy once broke when it was claimed that he was a former star of Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. But in the end he was really just one obscure guest star.  Go to Funaroboard for more info.

( The fact that he was Roger doesn't really change the fact that he was no where near a star on Power Rangers. Thankefully the news seems to be educated to this fact now.)

2/15/09 I recommend fully that you check out the last two podcasts that Rangercast has put out. Which are podcast 110 and 111

Podcast 110  goes into the whole Olesker incident. Along with new information. It turns out Olesker already made his reality show pitch to Disney in deciember. They turned him down so he tried to use his pitch thread on RB to convince Disney the idea was viable. And ultimately lead to his company getting to produce some kind of animated pr series. However, this was a big violation of Disney's trademarks. And could have got everyone in big trouble. Jack was not friends with Jay Francis like he claimed. Ironically, the one who tipped the fandom off to all this was Bruce Kalish ( Executive Producer for  SPD-JF), Who really does have a relationship with Jay Francis.

Podcast 111 goes in depth about the behind the scenes drama going on with RPM. It basically covers things that were already posted below. Just in more detail. It gives the Eddie Guzzilian firing sistuation more detail. The just of it is that he tried to micromanage everything and production got seriously behind. The podcast does confirm that Judd Lynn is the Excutive Producer for the final 18 episodes of RPM . It also looks like he was actually one of the scab writers on Jungle Fury ( during the writers strike).

Go here to  listen to these last two podcasts. There diffinitly very educational on both subjects. Especially if you want a clear understanding of just what is going on.

2/15/09 A rough cut promo of RPM has leaked on the internet. It was something created in house and not intended for the viewing of the general public. Somehow it leaked on the internet.

Reaction to it has been very positive. It has gotten people excited about the driection of early RPM.  The promo gives us our first looks at the  the RPM characters and the premise of the show. It comes off as pretty epic.We also hay have got a possible  sample of the RPM threm song mid way through. The  Rangercast Podcast  has a link to the youtube video of it.

2/15/09 Mesh  reports that Judd Lynn has returned to Power Rangers. He has aparently been brought in to to help with the second half of Power Ranegrs RPM. It is unclear if he is officially the show runner.

Some members of the   cast   are not  happy with his scripts so far and the direction the show has taken post Eddie Grizllia'ns'; departure. [Credit: Mesh ( Fury Diamond.)]

Chris Funaro made a case for Judd Lynn at Starpoints Rangercast. Basically that  the actors were loyal to Eddie and don't know of Lynn. They also may not understand what Power Rangers is. Its very possible that  Lynn is doing what has to be done to salavage the  second half of the season. But you're better off reading Chris's post to get his full message.

Judd Lynn  started out on the production staff during early MMPR. He started out as the production manager and ended up doing some directing. He ended up transitioning to the writing end of things. He became Story Editor in the middle of Turbo ( which had production drama midway that parrallels RPM's drama).

Judd was instrumental in the creative direction of Power Rangers from Mid Turbo- Power Rangers Time Force.  And is regarded by many to be one of the finiest writers in the history for the franchise.

He left after Time Force, due to  burnout and creative differences with Johnathon Tzachar ( who was showrunnrer from mid turbo-WF and a big part of Saban era PR as a whole). Judd left the TV bussiness and went into constructing houses last we knew of him. He is return to PR is unexpected.

( Its a shame that Judd isn't returning under better circumstances. He is one of my personal favorite writers thats ever worked on  Power Rangers. And seems to be someone that cared about the show when he worked on it in the passed. Judd wrote most of the scripts during Mid Turbo-TF. Which is unprecendent for a Story Editor. Its surprising to see that some are not happy with his work. But its understanable with him coming into the current situation. He almost has to be the bad guy here, to get production back on track. Its impossible for him to come in and follow Eddie's vision, since he isn't Eddie.

I agree with Chris here. If he was brought in to make sure the rest of production goes smoothly, it makes sense to do what he is doing. And its highly possible that the actors are biased. Who knows if Mesh's source isn't one of the bitter ones.  We simply can't really tell until we see RPM as a whole anyway. Judd Lynn's return does give me some hope that RPM's second half will still be good. )

2/15/09 Chris Funaro presents Disney's side of the story in his power at Starpoints Rangercast. Aparently, Eddie tried to micromanage everything. He wouldn't delegate authority .  He also wasn't  responding to Disney's memos. Production almost caught up to the writers. Which should never happen in live action, and never happened in Power Rangers before.  Disney became affraid that things were going to go overbudget and that there would be little time to post produce things if it got too dark. Therefore they had no choice but to fire Gruzelian. Read his post here. Here is his second post.

Mesh source presents things as Disney making Eddie look back so they couild fire him without the actor's walking off the set.  He hasn't heard Chris's side of the story, but thinks it could be plausible. Here is his post.

( I personally think Funaro's information makes sense. You could see where a newbie Exec would get over ambitious and make those rookie mistakes. Its noble that he cared about Power Rangers and tried to make a qaulity tv program. But if he really was threatning things on the production end and not responding to Dssiney's memos.... You can't really blame them for making a change. Thats this the way show biz works)

2/15/09  More has come out about the RPM production situation. Fury Diamond is reporting that Eddie Guzelian  had a very clear vision for what he wanted to do in Power Rangers. A crew member didn't like what he was trying to some of the changes he was trying to make. So the crewmember convinced Disney to have him fired.  His final episode is episode 18. Go here to see the post.

2/15/09. There has been a a lot of drama at Rangerboard lately. Jack Olesker ( a long time TV writer that has worked on such shows as New Adventures of He-man, Hecliff, The Littles, and Mask) showed up at Rangerboard claiming to be the writer of the early MMPR bible.

At first he just answered a  slew of questions from the board and was very casual. But then he presented a pitch challenge. Which he intended to present to Disney.  Rangerboard posters submited their ideas for an animated version of Power Rangers. Some people suspected that Olesker was acting officially.

But then it came down that Olesker was actually workng on his own and didn't go through Disney first. Disney ordered his thread be shut down and that Oleskar cease the pitch challenge immidiately.

It is actually a big no no to get  ideas from fans. Since it opens up tons of legal issues later on. Since fans might claim future storylines were their ideas. Which could lead to lawsuits. Plus Jack was not working officialy with Disney, so it was illegal for him to  even be doing the pitch challenge.

Jack has apolgized for his end and claims that he had good intentions. He admits that he should have went to Disney first. His plan was to try and present Disney with fan  feedback. In hopes of creating a reality show where fans got to   compete against each other's ideas. With the winner's idea being used for an animated version of Power Rangers.

Jack Olesker invovlement would have been early on before production on MMPR began. Most people in production don't even remember him. But it is assumed that he had at least had some ealry invovlement in MMPR. Its hard to say just how much the MMPR bible was similar to the actual show we got in season 1.

But Olesker is a real person tha thas been active in other fandoms before. He showed up at He-man.org to discud the New Adventeures of He-man. And he is a legit name in the tv industry.

A lot of the threads  got  deleted or restricted. But here is his apoligy for the contest idea. The pitch thread is no longer accissible.

2/15/09  Since our last update, Richard Genelle sadly passed away at the young age of 47. He reportly suffered an heart attack. We wish him and his family the best. Please keep them in you're thoughts and prayers.

Richard Genelle
is notable iin Power Rangers circles for potraying Erinie. Who ran the Juice Bar at the Youth Center during MMPR-Zeo. Richard 's character played a pretty significant role in early Power Rangers. Most old time Power Ranges fans should have fond memories of the Ernie character. He was always the lovable Juice Bar  owner. Who was a positive figure in the Ranger's life. Ernie's was wrttiien out by Turbo. When Lt Stone bought the Jucie Bar.

But in real life, Richard was a loving  husband and father to his family. Which is far more important than his contributions to a saturday morning kids show. Which is why we wish him and his family the best. Click here  for more information.

2/15/09  A lot has happened since our last news update. I'll try to get us caught up here. I'll try to go in order and work my way up

I've actually been working on the site the past since the last new update. I've been focused on rewatching MMPR, VR Troopers, and keeping up with Dragon Knight. I've been updating the Episode Guides  as I watch. I just haven't been able to finish proofreading my updates, so the haven't been updated. I'm rewatching Power Rangers from the beginning. I plan on expanding all the episode guides and screen capping every episode. That will of course take a long time.

I'm sorry that I  keep falling behind on the news. In a perfect world, I'd like to make some sort of news update every day. But its easy to get behind and get discouraged. Or just side tracked by another part of the site I am working on. Hopefully, I can eventually get in a grove where I update news everyday.

1/21/09  Fury Diamond is saying that Eddie Guzelian was not let go because of RPM's darker plot. He was actually hired for his creative vision. Some behind the scenes issues led to his departure midway into production. Here is Fury Diamond's post.

Fury Diamond broke the story about Eddie Guzelian being the new Executive Producer of RPM. With the catch being that he was let go halfway through the season.  His vision for RPM was said to be darker and more mature then recent PR.  ( Scroll down for the prior newsbye about this).

1/21/09  With Power Rangers exclusively airing on ABC Kids we can assume that reruns from prior season  will cease to air. Currently Toon Disney airs Power Rangers reruns from NS on. But with the relaunch to Disney XD Power Rangers doesn't seem to be on the schedule.

MMPR-WF reruns no longer air on tv due to SAG  ( Screen Actors Guild) issues. As whenever Disney shows those episodes they have to pay the actors royalties. NS-JF is not union so they don't have that issue. But it now appears therere will be no place to show NS-JF for the time being.

1/21/09  It appears  that the rumors of Power Rangers being exclusive to ABC Kids  are true. Power Animals sent an email to a Disney  official and recieved confirmation that Power Rangers is only airing on ABC KIds ( go here to see his post). This is after Burgandy Ranger ( of Power Rangers On Air Central) said that he didn't see RPM on Disney XD's schedule for the month of feburary. The GKA times noticed that PR didn't appear in the press release for XD's programming. But that wasn't confirmation that PR would not be airing on on Disney XD. Spikytv claimed RPM was debuting in Febuary on DisneyXD. But that is not the case.

Power Rangers began airing on ABC Kids  in 2001, several months after the Disney Buyout. But it also aired on ABC Family a week later. At some point  ABC Family  began to get the episodes first. Then PR began to air on Toon Disney.  Eventually, Toon Disney had the first  run airing and ABC Family stopped airing Power Rangers entirely ABC kids continued to air new episodes on delay.

Power Rangers orginally debuted on the Fox Kids Network in 1993. It was produced by Saban Entertianment. Which ended up having a 50 percent stake in the kids network.  In 2001 Saban Entertianment (along with Power Rangers) was sold to Disney/

1/18/09  Fury Diamond reports that  Ari Boyland  will be the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers RPM.  Here is the post about this. Go here for more casting information.

1/17/09  According to Fury Diamond ( the Owner of Starpoints and  Rangercast , who is otherwise known as Mesh) the first half of RPM was supposed to feature a dark and mature plot geared towards an older audience. But the decison was made to change directions and the new Executive Producer was replaced midseason. Which means RPM's second half will probably go in a different direction then the first.  The Executive Producer for the first half of RPM is Eddie  Guzelian.  Here is the post about the executive shake up.  Here is the post about Eddie Guzelian.  Here is the first post in the thread. It has information on what is known about the cast and storyline for the show.

Zarius says that Guzelian was the  Executive Producer  of American Dragon: Jake Long.  As well as a  Story Editor on Kim Possible and Fillmore. And also worked on Xiaolin Showdown. Here is his thread.

1/16/09   I started a website that will serve as a database for VR Troopers. I am currently rewatching the whole series and updating as I go. I aim to create a comphrensive episode guide along the way. I also want to get a campaign together to get VR Troopers back on the air. I have created a message board to go with the site.

http://www.vrtroopersonline.com

http://vrtroopersonline.yuku.com

1/15/09  I have made a major decsion. We are returning to the Power Rangers Online Ezboard. Which has upgraded to a Yuku Forum. The Power Rangers Online Yuku was the orginal Message Board for the orginal PRO. When I gained control of the board I created this version to bring that site back. I lost sight of my goal  and moved to more upgraded forums. Now I have decided to go back to PRO's Routes

Rider Power will still be a part of my affilates of sites. It will just become a Kamen Rider forum. I think its better to focus RP on one topic then to try to turn it into a board for three or four different shows.  It will be the forum for Kamen Rider Online.

1/8/09  Mutant Chat ( A bunch of pr fans from Rangerboard and Funaroboard) is hosting a aim chat with  Greg Arnowitz ( one of the Executive Producers for Power Rangers SPD) tommarrow night ( Saturday). The chat doesn't have a link. To be elegible to be part of the chat, you need to sign up here and give you're aim name ( you need to have aim and be signed on that night). Space is limited.

1/7/09  DisneyXD ( the soon to be rebranded Toon Disney)  has released its Spring/Fall Schedule.  Power Rangers was not mentioned at all. Despite what another outlet has reported, this does not mean that Power Rangers is'nt going to air  DisneyXD. It could very well mean that they were simply not mentioned on the release.  At this point, we have to assume Power Rangers RPM will  air on  DisneyXD ( after it changes over from Toon Disney). This could mean that Power Rangers will not be considered a high priority on the new network. But for that we will have to wait and see. Bruce's Kalish's new show ( Aaron Stone) is mentioned. But there is no mention of his work on Power Rangers. Kalish was of course the showrunner of Power Rangers SPD-Jungle Fury. And has recently left the series. See the   Press Release is  here  .

1/5/09  Power Rangers RPM will debuted in Feburary 2009  on Toon Disney ( soon to become DisneyXD).  RPM wil preimere on ABC Kids on March 7, 2009. The source for this story is Spikytv.

1/5/09   Gage has opened a new version of his Power Ranger Webportal. He seems off to a very good start. Go there for news on Power Rangers and its forum.

1/5/09 I want to draw attention to two Power Rangers forums. The first  forum is  the Time Force Forums and is located at Timeforce.ca/  . The forum is owned by Argus. The second forum is Power Rangers United.  Both forums are  worth checking out.

1/5/09  Lets highlight some major threads on some of the boards throughout the fandom. There not affilated with PRO.

1/4/09    Mesagog/Dai Shi  (owner of the Power Rangers Empire forum)  is tentatively planning a Power Rangers Convention..However, there is some controversy.  Disney  aparently doesn't want any Power Rangers Conventions  without the Morphicon group. So its debatable as to wether the PRE Convention would be allowed to happen at all. The good news is that there does seem to be plans for a Morphicon 2 in the future. Mesagog/ Dai Shi has created a forum for feedback.  The threads here are the source for this newsbyte ( the first paragraph).

Morphicon was the very first Power Rangers Convention ( held in LA). It was helped back in 2007 after a few years of planning. The convention was officiall sanctioned by Disney. All profits were givening to the Make A Wish Foundation.Morphicon featured various cast and crew members that worked on the show over the years. The event was organized  by Maureen Dawson ( also known as  Ivydraken). Plans are tentative for a new convention. Morphicon is in no way associated with the prespective PRE Convention.

01/1/09  The GKA Times is reporting a rumor that Jetix Europe and Disney may be producing a Power Rangers TV Show just for Europe.  Aparently, crew members are already prepping to shoot down in New Zealand. Disney recently bought out Jetix Europe, which has become a co-producer of Power Rangers. This move would not effect the US Series. Click here for the story.

1/1/09 Snoopswarner posted a thread (at Rangerboard ) about a new Austrilian Toku in the works. BOS Stunts (  a team that has done Stunt work on Power Rangers, Super Sentai, and other Tokusatu shows) is trying to sell their idea to an Austrialian company. The name of the show is Rescue Force. It looks like they have shot some action scenes but its really just in the planning stages. They don't have a tv partner yet. Here is the thread about this ( this is actually a month old story) . Here is BOS Stunts website  Visit Snoopswarner's Ranger Retrocenter website for Power Rangers news and info.

1/1/09   The Titanium Ranger and Green Samuari Ranger will be added to the Power Rangers Super Legends Toyline. This story should be credited to JDF'd at Rangerboard, as he first reported it there. The following link will take you to Linear Ranger's newsbyte about this, which included JDF'd 'sscans. He credits JDF'd for the story.

1/1/09  Sirstack's Hexagon Archives   is hosting a large collection of Power Rangers Scripts. Some of them are early drafts of episodes. Some of the scripts are even autographed by Jason David Frank. It gives a lot of great insight into the production of Power Rangers. More  scripts are yet to be posted.

( Most Dragon Knight news  I  cite or report will now only be posted at Kamen Rider Online)

12/12/08   Kamen Rider Online has been down for the last day or so,  due to  a webhost change. The site will be back up as soon ( if not already), when my new webhost account is activated. This move doesn't effect any of my other sites yet, since I am sticking with the old webhost for most of them. Kamen Rider Online will be you're source for Kamen Rider Dragon Knight news and series information. It basically will be what this site is for PR but for Dragon Knight.

12/12/08  I've been doing some massive updates to the Jungle Fury section. Its going to have information up into about midway through the season. I am actually catching up with JF while I update. So the JF site should be comprehensive by the time I am finished with it. The goal is obviously to cover the whole season. A JF episode guide has also been added. I opened an RPM section but there isn't much there right now. Don't expect much until the season actually starts.

12/12/08   Skylar Deloen has been convicting of murdering a couple for the yacht and in a third unrelated murder. He had been sentanced to death. In the past news entities have falsely refered to him as a star of Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. In reality, he was just a background extra for an episode or so.  Still its worth noting. If only to dispel any noticing that the guy had anything major association with Power Rangers. To be fair, most news outlets have been acting more informed on that issues. Go to Rangerboard for more information.

12/12/08 I apoligize for the error message on top of the main site page. I don't know whats causing it. For some wierd reason the main site page wasn't showing up with text in Aol. I had to copy the news to a different page. The page works on AOL, but gets the error message ( on aol and other browsers).  Hopefully, I can find away to make the error message on top go away. At least the newsbytes are visible to everyone now. So its not a major deal.

12/01/08  I just want to give a shot out to The  Spandex Report  and Rangernews. If I missed any of the newsbytes from the last few months they will probably have it. Also check the Rangerboard news forum and the general forum. I also want to give a shout out to Rangercast and No Pink Spandex. Those podcasts have been churning out some good stuff. Visit their websites to see what they have been up to since we last reported on them. I also want to alert people about Ranger Retrocenter. Snoopswarner is updating the design and plans to do more frequent updates.  Finally, give a visit to Okatu Hero. Its a website for Toku shows and movies. Its soon to undergo a name change.

12/01/08  I'm not sure if the deadline for this already passed, but its worth noting that MTV's True Life show is looking for Power Rangers fans to appear in a segment filmed at Comicon. Naks Power Rangers has posted the information. Bandai America orginally sent out the press release to various websites.  Naks also posted the press release for the RPM toyline ( also from Bandai America)

12/01/08  Poweranimals has alerted the fandom that there is a possibility that the Screen Actors Guild could go on strike. Which would effect  the filming of TV shows and eventually movies. The Writers Guild went on last year and wound up delaying filming of most tv shows. Causing Jungle Fury to utilize scab writers for its second half. Its still possible that SAG could negociate a new deal with Holywood and evert a strike. Still its worth following.

12/01/08  Henshin Justice is reporting that Kamen Rider Dragon Knight will debut on Janurary 3, 2009. With a sneak peak on December 13, 2008 ( the first episode airing early). DK will air on Saturday's at 9:30 AM, on the CWKids block. Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is the long awaited american adaption to Kamen Rider Ryuki. And the first US adaption of Kamen Rider since Masked Rider. Both propteries have nothing to do with each other. As Adness is producing Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. Masked Rider was produced by Saban Entertianment.

12/1/08 Daniel Ewing has secured a role on Power Rangers RPM. He will play Dillion . Who is aparently some what of a "bad boy" character. Source:

http://if.com.au/2008/10/28/article/ZLUXGHESQS.html

Credit should also go to  Rangersims and Mesh

12/1/08  Jetix Europe has announced that they will be Co-producing Power Rangers RPM this year. Its unclear exactly what that means. Aparently, Power Rangers is  very important brand in Europe. Jetix Europe airs Power Rangers program for Europe. Credit to Power Animals and Rangernews.

12/1/08 Power Animals claims that Jackie Marchand has left Power Rangers. Aparently she left midway into production of Power Rangers RPM. Jackie Marachand has been a story editor for Space-Time Force and Ninja Storm-Mid RPM?.  She has been one of the few holdovers from the old Saban Entertianment regime. If she is truely gone she will be missed as a creative force on the show.  Of course earlier reports have stated that Bruce Kalish has left the show. So we could have a brand new Executive Producer and Story Editor this year. Go to Rangernews for more on the story.

12/1/08    The Rangercast Podcast has conducted a two part interview with Greg Aronowitz. Who was Executive Producer during SPD ( under Kalish) and responsible for most of the set/costume designs. He is most reponsible for creating the SPD universe. Both interviewes go in depth and are a good listen.

12/01/08 The Spandex Report has reported  that the booster packs for the PR card game will actually only contain 9 cards, not 16. Also the cards have been slowly appearing at Walmart stores.  Snoopswarner has posted a card checklist at Ranger Retrocenter.

12/01/08  Linear Ranger reports that some type of Power Rangers card game is coming to America. It will aparently utilized MMPR, Wild Force, SPD, Jungle Fury, and RPM so far. There are 16 pack booster packs avilable for 2.95 to 3.19 each. Its only been seen in Miejer retail store. Here are the rules of the game.

12/01/08  Skylar Deleon is set to stand trial   for the murder  of  a couple ( when he extorted them out of their yaht). He has already pleaded not guilty and could face the death penalty if convicted. He also could face  charges in unrelated murder.  Skylar Deloen had a small cameo on Power Rangers during MMPR. In the past media outlets have tried to claim that he has starred on the show, which is 100 percent false.  Source: Rangerboard    (It should be noted that this news was reported back in October and I am posting it now to catch up. Skylar could very well have already had his trial)

PRO once mentioned that he played Roger in the "Second Chance" episode. But that is untrue. I apoligize for being wrong. Deleon played an extra not a guest star. Its unclear what episode he appeared in. But it wasn't a prominate role at all, more just being in the background.  I know its been years and know one remembers the old newsbyte. I just always felt I should clarify that and apoligize for that error.  And this is the perfect opertunity to do so.

12/01/08   Eka Darville has been cast to play an unconfirmed role in Power Rangers RPM. Who is ironically running for city council ( he is from Austrilia). He has moved himself down on the parties ticket to take the role in RPM. Aparently he doesn't intend to actually win the election. Aparently intending his run to be more of a practice for other forays into politics. Credit this to: The Daily Telegraph.

Extra Credit to Mesh and Rangersims

12/01/08 Its been a few months since I updated with PR news. So its time to try and play catch up. I'm going to try and post most of the stories I missed. If I miss a few I guess there are other outlets that reported these stories long before me. I just would rather try and get caught up on things before we get going on the current news.

08/24/08 No Pink Spandex has relased another podcast. Which is part three of their Anime Central 2008 convention coverage. More specifically the Life After Power Rangers Panel with Jason David Frank ( Jason David Frank), Steve Cardenas (Rocky), Karan Ashley (Aishia), and Robert Axelrod (Lord Zedd).

08/24/08  Rangercast has posted a new podcast. And features part two of their Okaton coverage. As well as some video Tyler shot at Okaton. The goal of their donation drive for the American Cancer Society is now at 200. They have been able to raise 182 in donations so far.

08/24/08 The Spandex Report has updated for the week.  Including a  newsbyte about changes hin Tonn Disney and AbC kids schedule.  Also including links to some fan fics and fan art. As well as some of the better message board posts at the top PR boards.  And linmks to some of the lasts podcasts. As usually the Spandex Report is a good glance over the fandom news.

8/18/08 Rangernews has a an interesting newsbyte of a JDF panel apearance up. Along with a link to some video. Frank discusses how he almost had a role on Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, his "Undressed" apearance with Alyison Kippermen ( who went on to play Taylor in Wild Force, and  meeting up with the late Thuy Trang (Trini) a few years after she had left the show.  Click here for  more about this (leads you to Ranger News)

08/18/08  A new Live Journal community as sprung up, known as Rangernews.  It strives to Power Rangers related news. Anything that has to do with the cast and crew or any type of fandom related news. Rangernews was created by Lisa J, who is best known for her work on Awwman.com and the No Pink Spandex podcast. She is also a former co-host of the Rangercast podcast.  I really think Rangernews is worth a visit from everyone here. The Spandex Report has already givening it a vote of confidence.

08/18/08 Power Rangers Jungle Fury  got a reference on the Daily Show. The show focused on the Olympics.. Which takes place in China this year. Host John Stewart jokingly said he had to summon the Power of the Jaguar or Ferret and mentioned the Jungle Fury Power Rangers. Aparentlly his son watches the show. Its always impressive to see a mainstream Power Rangers reference that doesn't just refer to MMPR. Credit this to XtrEEmMaShEEn3k2. Here is his post , which links to a video of this .

08/18/08 The  Rangercast podcast  has a new episode up. That was filmed on location at the Otakon. And features an interview with Tony Oliver. Former Story Editor of MMPR season 1 and an important part of Power Ranger's creation. He is most famous for his role has Rick Hunter in Robotech. As well as audio from a press conference by Jam Project ( a Japenese band).  Go  here for the link to  listen to the podcast.

08/18/08   No Pink Spandex has released its latest podcast in two formats.  This is part two of the Power Rangers Panel from the Anime Central Convention. Which  consisted off Jason David Frank ( Jason David Frank), Steve Cardenas (Rocky), Karan Ashley (Aishia), and Robert Axelrod (Lord Zedd). The two formats are quicktime and AVI. Here is the quicktime version and the AVI version.

08/18/08   The Spandex Report has made two updates during the previous two weeks. Discussing news on the rebranding of Toon Disney, Power Rangers remaining in New Zealand, Turbo DVD Box sets in Great Britain, and a Daily Show Power Rangers reference. And of course spotlights posts from various message boards. As well as Fan Fiction on various life generals. It also spotlights  some podcasts, merchandise, mulitmedia, and fan art.  Click here to go to the Spandex Report.

08/18/08 The PRN situation is currently in limbo. The domain owner is hesitant to bring back the board.  He has given me the old website files that he aquired from PRN Ranger. Which changes my plans considerably. Since I was orginally just going to  remake the site from scratch one of the old layouts. Not it might make more sense just to finish the content on the current PRN layout ( which is the next to last layout designed, the final one ended up being a reboot that never went past an incomplete SPD site). I'm not currently  sure where I precede from here. But I will keep you all updated on any changes. For now you can view the PRN website here.

08/18/08 I wanted to spotlight  a Power Rangers forum. Power Rangers United is a populated board  that deserves some reconition. The Spandex Report has been covering it in its weekly updates. The forum was started after the owners of Power Rangers Universe wanted a reboot.

08/09/08  Toon Disney is being rebranded into Disney XD. This move is to  go with a strategy to target the boys 6-12 demo. Toon Disney is of course the home of first run Power Rangers episodes. Which carter to that same demo. The change is gouing to happen in Faburary 09.  The Los Angelos Times first reported this story. Here is the link to the Toonzone newsbyte on this.

08/09/08 A webpage is making the rounds in the fandom ( aparently orginating from  a reporter at Toonzone)  with some information on the shooting location for Power Rangers 09. And it seems to indicate that they are shooting  in New Zealand. Several months ago Power Animals heard a rumor that Power Rangers's production might move to Canada. But later debunked the rumor. So its no shock that Power Rangers is keeping its production in New Zealand.  Here is the link to the page with the information.

8/09/08  Jesse Herndon has posted a copy of the orginal Toei/Saban contract. Which dealt with how Saban was going to recieve the Toei footage to adapt into Power Rangers. The contract deals with the Zyuranger ( which was used for MMPR season 1) . Its a very interesting read. Go to funaroboard to see.

08/09/08 A while back I discussed a possible relaunce of Power Rangers Network. The plans for the relaunch feel through. However I am already working on new plans. I have already begun working on the relaunched site. And have found the old proboard PRN board, to use as a temporary base. But all admin accounts have to be approved byt he admin, who is no longer around. The board does allow some guest posting. Unfortunately it only allows guests to post in Advirtisements.  But this is only temporaty anyway. As I hope to convince the current owner of PRN to bring back the vbulletin. My goal right now is to get the site back up, but I still need to sell the owner on the idea.

I put up a new PRN test page.  There isn't much there yet and there are a lot of broken links. So its very much in beta ( the testing phase).  Its not even the permanent url, since my goal is to gain use of the real domain eventually .I made a post at the old PRN board asking people if they want PRN back. If you really want PRN back post that you do in the thread. Post as a guest though. We don't have an admin to aprove new memberships. But that won't be a problem if the Vbulletin comes back.  Here is the link to the thread.  Here is the link to the site I am constructing.

What does this mean for PRO.... Well, nothing really.  I don't plan on taking anything away from PRO in any major way. I want PRN to stand on its own. I may use a lot of concepts I wanted to do but  never implemented to PRO. But I am not going to take major sections of PRO and move them to PRN.  So rest assured that PRO is not going anywhere. If you are interested in helping with the new PRN email me here.

08/03/08  The Spandex Reporthas made its latest update for the week. It provides with us with numerous Power Rangers news. This week deals with the Power Rangers RPM's trademark, Morphicon's charity auction, Power Rangers boxsets in Germany, and more. As well as the weekly happenings on message boards,  merchandise related items , podcasts, fan art, fan fiction, and more. They update every week with a new group of updates. That now cover Power Rangers Empire in their forum updates.

08/03/08  Germany is getting a DVD boxset for Power Rangers Turbo. They already have box sets for  MMPR-Zeo in germany. The Turbo one will come out on August 25 and costs 24.99 ( Euros). There are english tracks avialable. But if you buy the set make sure you're DVD Player supports the DVD format they use. Since its a foriegn produced DVD. Here is a link to information on the DVD, which is in German.  credit: The Spandex Report.

8/03/08  The lastest episode of the No Pink Spandex Podcast is now up. It has panel footage from the Anime Central 2008 Convention. Which consisted off Jason David Frank, Steve Cardenas, Karan Ashley, and Robert Axelrod. Frank of course protrayed Tommy Oliver from MMPR-Turbo, "Forever Red", and Dinothunder. Cardensa protrayed Rock Desantos from MMPR season 2-the first episode of Turbo. Karen Ashley protrayed Aishia from MMPR season 2- season 3, Robert Axelron portrayed Lord Zedd from MMPR season 2- Space. No Pink Spandex is produced by Lisa J.  This link will lead you to the podcast.

8/03/08 The Rangercast podcast has come out with their lastest episode. With a two part episode. The first part deal with Okaton hype. And the second featueres a descussion on  "Arise the Crystals Eyes" ( the latest Jungle Fury episode, well before tonights new episode airs). They also talk about Morphicon's charity auction. They also remind you to donate to the American Cancer Society. If you use the Pay Pal link on their site, it could make you elgible to when prizes. More information on that can be heard on their podcast or by contacting the staff.

8/03/08  The Okaton Anime convention begins this Friday;  from  Baltimore  Maryland . Some alums from Power Rangers will be there. Richard Epcar, Tony Oliver, and Derek Stephen Prince  are slated to appear. Richard Epcar protrayed various voices for Power Rangers villains MMPR-Wild Force ( as well as other Toku and anime roles). Derek Stephen Prince played the Elgar  and Treacheron during Turbo and Galaxy respectively. Among some voice other acting roles  ( including Auric the Conquer, during Zeo).  Tony Oliver was the orginal story editor for  MMPR and essentially one of the early show creators. He also provided the voice you here during the orginal Megazord's transformation sequence. As well as a few other vocal roles on the show. He is best known for his role as Rick Hunter in the Robotech anime series. Click here for Okaton's official site. Here are threads  about fan gatherings for Rangerboard and Henshin Justice users ( gets you're parent's permission kids).

8/3/08   The people behind Morphicon are auctioning off three banners from the convention. The procceeds of which will go to support the Make A Wish Foundation.. In some controversy, the fourth banner is in the hands of Samuel Benta ( Will in Operation Overdrive) . The actor aparently wishes to keep it as a collectors item and has refused to give the banner back to convention President Maureen. The Morphicon team asks that fans do not take partt in any auctions invovling this fourth banner. As they are not  sponsering this auction. And it would not be Benta's right to auction it off at all. Morphicon is the fan orginized Power Rangers convention from June 2005Check out Chris Funaro's thread at Rangerboard for more information on the banner auction.

8/3/08   Raida|23 of Henshin Justice has descovered that Power Rangers RPM is in fact trademarked by BVS Entertianment. Which makes it pretty much the official title of Power Ranger 09.

Power Animals orginally reported that RPM was the working title for Power Rangers 09 several months ago. But later reported that their was a chance the name was going to be something different. This latest report shows that RPM is most likely going to remain the title.

Power Rangers RPM will be based off of Go-onger and adapt that Sentai into a new PR season. BVS Entertainment is a subsideray of Disney and the parent company for Power Ranger.  Go here for Raidaj23's thread .

7/29/08 In my  Fan Fic newsbyte from a few days  ago,  I made one big mistake. If you look at Fanfiction.net there seem to be plenty of fan fics based off the PRU and actual characters. So the orginal team trend is mainly happenning at message boards. It was still a topic worth discussing though. But Fanfiction.net was very underrated by me. And we could diffinitly use more Power Rangers Fan owned archives. For Fanficton.net, Parental Guidance is suggested. .Here is the link to fanfiction.net's  Power Rangers section .

7/29/08  Lets spotlight some fan fiction from Fanfiction.net. Parental Guidence is suggested, just in case.  Vespera writes "Blues ". Which expands upon love story between Tori and Blake.  Vespera also writes "Color Scheme", which gives some insight on Tommy;s motive's during DinoThunder.   SilverRider writes "Words Apart". Which explores on some additonal reasons why Eric left prep school. Etcetera writes   "Roaring On the Wind". Which deals with a Red Ranger team up alternate universe.. These stories are from the Power Rangers Unlimited community of Fanfiction.net. Which is managed by Cassandra S. Fisher.  Here is a link to other Fanfiction.net communities. Here is the link to the Power Rangers section in general.

7/29/08  Its been awhile since I have givening Naks Power Rangers a plug. But words cannot describe how great a site it is. It has probably the best episode guide in the fandom. It  has every episode of  Power Rangers summerized, in special detail for the last several years. It has character profiles for every character. It has a great links section. The site also has great pictures. The layout doesn't look like much but it doesn't matter, since the site is a great resource. That rivals even Power Rangers Central. The site has been in operation since Lightspeed Rescue was on the air. Which is quite an accomplishment.

7/28/09  Lets highlight some message board fan fiction. Parental Guidance is suggested, some of these fics have ratings at the beginning of them.   On Rangerboard you have, " An Unstoppable Storm" (by Kameorulz).  A story about the Ninja Storm Rangers and some original, chracters.  On Power Rangers Empire  ( must  register or log on to see the fan fic section)  you have, "Power Rangers: Overdrive" (by Dark Huntress). Which remakes Operation Overdrive to be more in line with Space Patrol Delta.  At Starpoints Rangercast you have,  "Once A Ranger: The Legend Continues" ( by Delgado). Which celebrates the one year anniversy of "Once A Ranger".  On Rangertalk you have, "Crisis: An SPD Rewrite" (by Tempest). Which seems to be  some sort of SPD remake. On Funaroboard you have,  " The Zedd and Rita Chronicles" ( by Power Animals). Which tries to give some insight on Lord Zedd and Rita's back story, relating to Mystic Force. .

7/28/08  Henshintalk has gone through a restart and is once again Rangertalk. The board has been restarted on the Rangertalk domain. The archives to the old posts and member profiles are still around as an archive. You just can't actively post on the archive. On the restarted board members will have to sign up for new accounts. This was done to get a fresh start and for the admins to get a handle of some things that got out of control. Do to the archive being kept, nothing was really lost at all.

Upons aquriing Power Rangers Central Micheal Bastian created Rangertalk to act as the ne support board for PRC ( Since RB was retained by Ray Calderon, who decided to let it stand on its own). And quickly grew into one of the largest boards in the fandom. Power Ranger Lagacy was later merged into Rangertalk.

The site became Jetix Talk in an attempt to reach out to other Jetix fandoms. But this idea was abandoned for a return to the Rangertalk name. Some time later the decsion was made to expand thins to all Tokus and Henshin Talk became the new name. Until the recent return to the Rangertalk.com idenity. here have been a number of crashes and restartes over the years, but for the must part things have been steady since its 2004 start. But this latest restart has not resulted in any real data loss ( again, because of the archive). Go to Rangertalk or go to the archives.

7/28/08 Well the fanfic thread  yesterday at Rangerboard that I mentioned has turned quite interesting. Chris Funaro has jumped in with his own viewpoint. And there were a lot of other responses as well. So I would check it out if you haven't already. I also started another related thread at Funaroboard, thats worth checking out too.

7/27/08  This is a big selfish of me. But I just started a thread at Rangerboard pertianing to fan fiction. More specifically about the appeal of Mary Sue  characters and fan  made teams in Power Rangers fanfiction.  I am hoping to get some good discussion on this subject.

Personally, I feel its a shame that we don't have more fan fiction based off the actual show's canon. In the past fan fiction seemed to focus more on this. But now we seem to get more of the Mary Sue/new team stuff ( not that there isn't still some fan fiction based of of the actual Power Rangers  characters). So I am just curious to why these authors do this? Basically to get in the heads of the opposing viewpoint of mine and some others.

A Mary Sue character is a fan made character that usually can do no wrong and just kicks butt ( to put it bluntly). Sometimes being representive of the author himself/herself. In Power Rangers Fan  Fiction this usually invovles a fan created Ranger.

In the last several years we have seen an outbreak of fics that feature fan created teams. Which basically use the Sentai concept that Power Rangers itself has adapted,  with each season starting over with a new team and villains. Which in the cast of fan fiction, the powers are  purely fan created. And usually has little do do with existing Power Rangers stories.

In the early days of the fandoms (when Fan Fiction Archives played a more important role) fanfiction was more based off of  stories based on the actual series. Obviously this could never be officially canon, but it could diffinitly be interesting. With  some authors going to great lengths to solve the conical mysteries of Power Rangers.

The change to fan created teams over canon expansion,  had a lot to do with Power Ranger' s switch to the Sentai approach. As well the shut down  of many of the fan fic archives. Click here for the thread I started ( if you haven't been there already).

7/27/08 The Spandex Report has updated for the week. They spotlight some of the major message boards posts and fan fiction entiries of the week. Among other things of note; like mulitimedia, episode air time schedules, merchandise, and fan art.

7/27/08  I wanted to give a Plug to the "After the Power " website. It featurea pictures from Ranger actives in other acting roles. The site has many actors profiled for their various roles in TV and Film. Its quite unique idea and served a purpose. Since there are fans that like to follow the actors closely and see what they have done outside of the Power Rangers  bubble.

7/ 27/08  After a two week break, the Rangercast Podcast is back with a new episode. They discuss the reason for their short hatius as well as the "Dash for the Dagger" and "Race To the Nexus". As we  the upcoming Otakon convention. They also discuss what they would have liked to have seen in a Power Ranger's animated series ( which isn't happening). Rangercast has been nominated for a Parsec Award for Best Fan Podcast. They also begin a drive for the donation to the American Cancer Society. The episode is dedicated to James Waldman (1953-2008).

7/23/08 Xrangeronline is a news site for Super Sentai and other Tokusatu. Its run by Boukenger. And has been in operation for a few years, with some retoolings over the years. It also has a picture gallery and forum.

XRangeronline.com once had a site that I ran. Originally I had a site called the Power Rangers Online Database on rangerdatabase.com, in hopes of promoting the Power Rangers Online Ezboard. The companion news and opinion site for it was XRangerOnline ( thats how I spelt it when I ran a site on the domain). It eventualy took a similar format to this news section.

Eventually I dropped XRangerOnline  and just focused on PROD. I  morphed PROD into the new version of the PRO website ( My work is inspired and meant to be a continuation of the old PRO but thats another story that is answered in the FAQ)  and ended up adding a news section. I then let Boukenger  use the xrangeronline.com domain, to make a brand new site of his own. He has really impressed me. I am happy I let someone use the domain, that is making good use for it.

7/23/08  Power Rangers Gateway contains a group of websites  with information detailling  Ninja Story, Space Patrol Delta, Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, and Jungle Fury. Power Rangers Gateway is a long running site that stands up pretty well with most sites its age. This includes ranger bios, news, pictures, weapons bios, villians bios,  and much more for each season.

In an era, where new websites are hard to come by and message boards oversaturated...Its nice to see a quality site that has come about during the past five years. Its not the only one, but a good one none the less.

It  runs on Vbulletin.  The board is young, so it would be a perfect board for someone looking to get in on something at the ground floor.

7/22/08   Funaroboard has a very interesting post about the Zeo Serials, which aired to  during MMPR season 3 reruns to hype Zeo. This thread should shed more light on the serials.

The serials  are hard to place in canon. Since they make it seem like Zeo doesn't happen for a few weeks. But when Zeo starts its right after the end of MMPR 3. They discuss this in the Zeo Serial thread. The serials were pretty unique for PR and nothing like it was never done again. Zeo seemed so fresh and interesting at the time. But ironically failed to get ratings back up. Turbo, the season most hated by the online fanbase actually stablized the ratings.

7/22/08   It seems someone is trying to start a Beetleborg's Message Board. The layout needs a lot of work ( the colors make it hard to read) and its not very active yet. But it is a nice idea. There aren't many  active Beetleborg's sites or boards around. So I hope this new board works out.

Big Bad Beetleborgs was a spin off series of Power Rangers back in the mid ninties, from Saban Entertiantment. It adapted another Toku Series.  In Beetleborgs three ordinary kids used a wish to become their favorite comic book superheros. As a ramification the villan's were able to escape the comic book world. The show was later retooled into Beetleborg's Metallix.  Beetleborg's aired on Fox Kids and got some pretty good ratings during its run.

7/22/08  I'd like to spotlight a notable site that is very useful. Rangerprops provides the fandom with a place to discuss props. Whether you are collecting them or looking to make you're own. They cover Power Rangers and Kamen Rider props. They have a gallery and forum among other things. The forum is a great place to discuss the props of PR and Kamen Rider. And is full of some fan propmakers. This site fuffills a niche in this fandom.

7/21/08 Lets spotlight some notable threads.  Parental Guidence suggested ( just in case). At Henshintalk you have, " Who Didn;t like the Zordon era"  and "How Should Disney Handle the Decline of Power Rangers" .  Starpoints Rangerscasts has, " Can Disney's Series live up to Saban's"  and "Power Rangers Anniversy". At Rangerboard you have, "What You Miss Most About  PR Pre-Lost Galaxy-Jungle Fury  and  "PRLG: Quasar Quest Review ". At PRE you have,  "Does Anyone Know Who Sky's Dad Was" and "Most Touching Momment in Power Rangers"

7/21/08 Time to go into more Fan Fiction plugs. As usually parent's should check these fics out first before letting their kids. This time I'm going to highlight fics from Power Rangers Empire.  You have to be registered there to see the fics. But registration is free.

First up we have " Its Morphing Time: Part 1" , by Red One. Which is a retelling of MMPR. M14Mouse takes the comedic route for NS, in her " Hug the Guinea Pig" fan fic.  M14Mouse also writes, PRLG Stars. Which is a story about the friendship between Kendrix and Damon.  "Power Rangers : A Wild Time" for  SPD is written down by MarieScott. And seems to feature a team up between Time Force, SPD, and Wild Force. Magi-Mermaid writes "Power Rangers DinoThunder: The Jerrasic Age ". Which deals with the DT Ranger's children. "Power Rangers Jungle Fury: Unleash the Beasts" is written by Master RJ. It features the Jungle Fury Rangers and a few new characters. Darky5k ( who I believe is Darky from Rangerboard) writes, "Prophecies Of the Morphing Grid".  Which seems to dive into the ancient history of the Power Rangers Universe.

7/20/08 When I was catching  up on news last week, I forgot to include  an important update. Its old news now but...... Nutty88 posted some interesting news at Rangerboard, about the UK getting DVD boxsets for Ninja Storm-Operation Overdrive . Before non UK fans try buying these they must make sure their DVD players can play the foriegn format that the UK uses. In the US, we have Operation Overdrive released in various volumes of DVDs. But no complete collections of episodes for other seasons.

Here is the thread at Rangerboard about this

7/20/08  Time to spotlight some fan fiction being posted on various PR forums. . I'd suggest parents sample these before letting their children read. Just because I am not closely reading these. But I want to try and promote some fan fics on various boards. I'm actually looking for someone that follows stuff like this. So drop me an email if you're interested in sending me links to some good fics.  I'm not going to be able to list stuff from every board in this newsbyte. But I  will try to rotate and plug fics from the other boards next time. I want to try and make this an everyday newsbyte, or at least fequent ( Yes, I actually plan on posting newsbytes everyday).

Lets start with Rangerboard. There is Twilight Ranger's own sequel to Forever Red,"Forever Red  2". Shycode is writing  "Mighty Morphing Power Rangers: Return to Angel", whichs  features the return of Master Vile , Thrax, and Angel Grove. Darky writes yet another continuation of  Power Rangers in, "A Future In Recovery: AFIR 2- Revolution In The Land Of Confusion". Which features the return of Tommy Oliver as Green Ranger and Dex as Masked Rider, relating to SPD as well. Lastly, here is a pair of  JF  fan fics to qwell you're taste buds; GenerationX7's " Big Trouble in China"  and  "Aggression of the Scorpion" by Jerry. For more RB Fan Fiction go to their fan fic section.

Now on to Henshin Talk. You have Pinkranger's  "Power Rangers Time Force: The Missing Year" , which  continues the adventures of the TF Rangers  ( once they return to the future). A Sequel to DinoThunder in "Power Rangers DinoThunder Season 2", by DTY.  Which acts a somewhat of a sequel to Ninja Storm with new Rangers. But with some old allies in the former DT Rangers. Here is Skelemon's , "Friend In Need" . Which is an SPD fic centering on Sam and Z. For more Henshin Talk Fics, go to their fan fic forum.

Now lets look at Starpoints Rangercast. A Forever Red inspired "Power  Rangers : Forever Pink", by Dracus ( There have been numeroud Forever Pink fics over the years by different authors).  Dracus writes another fan  fic that takes place during MMPR season 1, "Mighty Morphing Power Rangers: Maiden of Destruction".  Solarbaby614 writes " PRJF: Mommy Dearest". Which is a story about Casey's mother. For more Rangercast fiction go here.

7/20/08 Speaking of Chris Funaro, I wanted to point out an interesting thread on Funaroboard. Which I coincidently started ( the thread not the board, obviously  ). Its asking about why we don't have new fandom contributers to take the riens of the old guard.  It garnered some very interesting responses. And is a very worthwhiled read.

Click here to view this thread

On a side note, Chris Funaro has also recently return to Rangerboard. Just to add to what I posted below.

Here is the link to his profile there.

7/19/09 Chris Funaro ( alias Commander Crayfish) has been posting a lot at Starpoints Rangercast and Henshin Talk lately.  Funaro is just a fan but he is a very knowlegeable one. I think he can really make a difference on these forums. His posts are very well written and thought provoking. And usually make for very good threads. I don't know how long he will keep posting but I look fowards to his future posts.

Chris Funaro has been a  member of the online fandom since the beginning. He was a frequent visitor of the  Usenet Power Rangers Newgroup. And the owher of the popular Funaroverse web portal. He also was a long time member of Rangerboard. Today he owns Funaroboard and is one of the hosts of the Rangercast podcast. He almost had a chance to work on Power Rangers as a writer. Once Disney changed the producution staff after Wild Force's wrapped production, he lost that oppertunity.

Here is his profile at Starpoints Rangercast

Here is his profile at Henshin Talk

7/18/09 Micheal Bastian has opened a new Toku site called Otakuhero.com/. The site just started recently but already contains a lot of pictures with plans to grow more. The former Tokusatsu-Fusion board is now its  forum. The site is dedicated to Tokusatsu ( which includes Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ulltraman, ect...). and some anime.

Micheal Bastian is the owner of Power Rangers Central ( Founded by Ray Calderon),  SuperSentai.com ( founded by Gerald as the Super Sentai Time Capsule), Tokucentral.com ( founded by Aaron, but greatly reorginized by Bastian). As well as the Henshin Talk forums. And a one time admin of the old PRN forums.

7/18/08  The Spandex Report is a very detailed newsletter thats actually more like a web portal. Its updated very week and links to important message board discussions,  fan fiction, new communities and more. The site is exactly what the fandom needs. It has quitetly filled the nich that web portals like funaroverse once served. In a fandom with so many boards its important to have a portal that keeps track of the notable happenings at all of them. With Fan Fiction being far from what it was in the early days of the fandom, having a portal that highlights key fan fiction is very important. I think this site deserves to really have  a lot of exposure. It could do the fandom a lot of good, and I am sure already has. I may have plugged this site before. But I feel that it deserved another plug. I probably will plug certian sites more then once. Since things are bound to get lost as they get buried by new newsbytes.

7/16/08 I'd like to once again spotlight Delta Red's EVG remake series. Which features a remake of MMPR and beyond. It actually started out as a remake of Lost Galaxy with a retcon to the end of In  Space. Featuring the character of Matt Corbott and his role in unleashing Zordon's Wave and later becoming the leader of the Galaxy Rangers. With his destiney as the chosen one being an on going theme ( along with new spins on some familar faces).. There are also several spin offs that are mostly remakes of other pr series. Delta is currently trying to remake MMPR-Turbo, to match it up more with his remakes of Lost Galaxy and beyond. Its diffinitly worth a look into the fic universe that is alway being expanded and improved upon. It's been a several year undertaking for Delta.

7/16 /08  The Rangercast podcast ( not to be confused with the board of the same name)
recently had Joe Rovang on as a guest. Rovang is best known for his work on the Writers Guide to Power Rangers. Which is basically a comprehensive encylepedia for Power Rangers. It mainly covers MMPR-LR. But had snippets from TF-SPD. Joe also has many other projects at Rovang.org. Many of them are just archived and won't be updated futher. But Joe is currently working on a fan fic adaption of Jetman. Which ambitiously turns the show into a Power Rangers series and is written in script format. The interview is a good listen. And  really is a must for people interesting in the history of the fandom and Rovang's work.

7/16/08 The Writers Guide Strike in Hollywood did effect the Production of Power Rangers Jungle Fury. Since the writers for Power Rangers have been union since Ninja Storm. Therefore they went on strike during the production of Jungle Fury. Which has resulted in the last several episodes of Jungle Fury being written by scabs. Some thing this will result in the remained episodes being more close to Sentai then usual. But only time will tell.

7/14/08 The annual liscencing show that usually gives up the first images of the new Power Rangers series yield no reards this year. Power Ranger shad no precence at all.  Ray Calderon of Rangerboard usually gets to attend every year. And has broken the titles of many  seasons as a result.  In recent years we have been able to learn about the new incarnation sooner, so the liscening show has become more obselete. This year we got nothing. Next year the show is moving so Ray won't be able to attend.

7/16/08 In addition to Bruce Kalish leaving the show, Power Animals has heard rumors of Jackie Marchand's depature. Which would actually be far more huge then Bruce Kalish.

Jackie Marchand  has been invovled with Power Rangers for several years. And is one of the last links to the old production team. She is infact the longest tenured writer. She worked as assistant Story Editor with Judd Lynn, from Space-Time Force. She left the show before Wild Force but came back as  the main Story Editor for Ninja Storm. She was promoted to Co-Producer with Mystic Force.

She is wildey respected by Power Rangers fans for her dedication to Power Rangers continuity. And long history of good episodes, as well as her work ethic. Especially during her time with Judd Lynn.

Her departure from the show could rob the franchise of someone that really understands Power Rangers. Someone that couldn't easily be replaced. But this is not confirmed. So it isn't a fact yet. I am sure we will know for sure by the time Power Rangers RPM nears

7/16/08  In major news, Power Animals thinks its very likely  that Bruce Kalish is no longer going to be the Executive Producer of Power Rangers. Another piolet he has been working on has been picked up. So he will now be the showrunner for a new show called "Aaron Stone". Which means Power Rangers will likely have a new showrunner for Power Rangers RPM.

Kalish made his Power Rangers debut with Power Rangers SPD. Taking over the showrunner role from Doug Sloan. He came in with little knowlege of the show itself and famously admited that he hadn't watched any prior epissodes of the series ( he did end up watching a collection of episodes after SPD was finished).

Many members fandom were turned off by his version of PR. Which seemed to futher slave to the sentai and have plot points that didn't always pay off in the end. As well as inconsitant chracters that seldom grew. More episodic plots an half hearted continuinty references were another complaint.

Of course others would say that he was just producing the show the way Disney wanted it. And Power Rangers has been adapting Sentai closely for years before he took over. And of course one man doesn't make or break a show, not even the showrunner.

Whether you like Bruce Kalish or not ( this isn't really an editoral by me just trying to present both sides, an editoral may come later) this could be a pretty big story . Since Power Rangers is most likely getting a new Exec. Even if he just has to follow Disney's orders.

7/13/08 Power Animals was able learned that the working title for Power Rangers 2009 is Power Rangers RPM. Which will be an adaption of Go-onger. Later, he learned that the RPM title is still up in the air.

New PR title

Scroll down to see an aim conversation that PA had with his source about the name being in jeperody. Don't pay any head to the Dragon Knight stuff. This was before it was picked up by CW Kids

http://riderpower.net/showthread.php?t=1970&page=10

7/16/08  BurgandyRanger reported that   Kamen Rider Dragon Knight has officially been picked up by CW Kids. It will air on their Saturday Morning Block ( CW Kids is controlled by 4kids ). This will presumably air sometime in early 09. The rumored deal with Cartoon Network never happened . But we know now that we will at least be able to see Dragon Knight in its entireity. Production actually finished quite awhile ago. They were just waiting on a home for the 40 episodes. Whether we get more then that depends on how well this thing does. It will be the first American Toku  besides PR in a while.

Dragon Knight is the latest american adaption of Kamen Rider. Another Toku show that is owned by Toei.  Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is being produced by Adness Entertianment. And more specifically adapts Kamen Rider Ryuki.

Kieth Hayward was able to attend the wrap party and got to see the first four episodes of the show. And had glowling reviews for it. Those of you that saw the leaked piolet online should know that some things have changed. As the male and female leads have been recast. The piolet was just to sell the show, not to be the first episode.

7/16/08    The team up tis year doesn't invovle any past Rangers. After much speculation about the orginal JF Bandai Toys ( which featured Rangers not featured in Gekiranger). It came out that the toys are actually going to be featured in a future two part episode of JF. Which will feature them as the Spirit Rangers.

7/16/08  The rumored NS/JF team up is diffinitly not happening. Its unclear how close this actually was to happening.  Perhaps the plans were canceled after the writers strike, but thats just heresay at this point. Its also possible that they were just rumors. Power Animals has confirmed that it is not happening. But it became obvious once we didn't hear anything else about it.

I would like to apoligize for jumping the gun on that story. I should have waiting for PA to get real confirmation that this was 100 percent true. It was irresponsible of me to go with such a sensational thing that wasn't a lock to happen. I don't doubt PA's connections however. But its old news for most of you at this point. I just felt it diserved a mention here. To make sure people that only visit this site weren't misled.

7/16/08  Alright its been a long while since I updated. I'll spare everyone the rah-rah speeches about being back. I know that gets old once I say it and precceed to go idle numerous times. So I'll just say that I am back now and hopefully more consistantly. I think this site is comprehensive enough that it is still a good resource without updates. But I really would like to get the last two seasons updated and to start providing news more frequently. Just to name a few things. I just did a uploaded some new updates to the OO Section. Which pretty much gets it up to date. I still need to expand the summery. And there is always room for improvment, but at least it isn't terriblu  out of date anymore. JF obviously needs some work. I'm going to try to catch up on the news I didn't report here. I may end up forgetting a few things. But if its old news, most of you have probably already heard about it elsewhere anyway. Still I'd like to at least attempt to catch up. So here we go. Here comes a massive news update above.

5/19/08  Its been awhile since I updated. Later,  I plan on posting some updated news that I have  missed. But I noticed the last newsbyte here was about the NS/Jungle Fury team up possibility. Power Animals never got anymore confirmation on that. And it actually now feels like it isn't going to happen.

We are getting the American made Bandai Rangers for a multiparter, however. I'll get into that news when I do my big  update. For those of you who did not already see it elsewhere.

I just didn't want to mislead people with the old JF/NS newsbyte, that has been up for a month.   As it is unfair to get people's hopes up when the news is now very much in doubt.

4/7/08   Power Animals  sources have indicated that plans are in the works for a  Jungle Fury/Ninja Storm team up. Its not a 100 percent lock yet. But is in the planning stages. PA first reported this on Rider Power.

During the past year Samuell Benta ( Will in Overdrive) revealed that the Overdrive cast was not being brought back for a team up. Which many assumed meant we weren't getting any team up this year.

PA began to cryptically mention a team up a few weeks ago. One that didn't neccessarly have anything to do with Operation Overdrive. Which ended up being the proposed NS/JF teams up.

Other then Sally Martin ( who appeared in "Once A Ranger Parts 1 and 2" last season) we having seen the Ninja Storm team since "Thunder Storm Parts 1 and 2" , which featured the team up of Ninja Storm and Dinothunder. No full Power Rangers team has ever come back more then a season after there own has wrapped up. Click on the link to see Power Animals's post.

4/7/8 Power Animals  has learned that Power Rangers RPM is a possible title for the 2009 PR season. But this could change down the road.

Past link titles incused Mystic Force and Drive Force. Mystic Force ended up sticking of course. But Drive Force became Operation Overdrive ( there was also a rumor about Power Rangers Relic Hunters being the title). Both Mystic Force and Drive Force were announced via press releases howerver. Power Rangers RPM was not released by press release and therefore is far less official.

The 2009 Power Rangers season will adapt Go-onger into a Power Rangers series. Which may or may not end up with Power Rangers RPM as the title. Click on the link to see Power Animal's  post.

4/7/8 .MR-Aftershock has posted an exclusive look at some of the bikes that will be featured in Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. The bikes have Dragon Knight and Wing Knight on them.

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is an American  adaption of Kamen Rider Ryuki. Which is scheduled to debut at some point in 2008.Click on the link to see Aftershock's  post

4/7/8 I don't know what the plan for the new Power Rangers Network is. But I was givening permission by Bastian to try and recruit new webmasters for PRN. I'm looking for someone to be the man. To recreate the PRN website like I did Power Rangers Online. Someone who loved the old PRN like  I did the old PRO.

Another idea would be to gather a bunch of fans together for a network of sites to be hosted on the PRN domain. For instance one site could be an MMPR site, another a Zeo site, ect.....

I'm not sure how all this would fit in the current plans for PRN. But its worth a try. Email me here.

4/7/8  A mysterious message at the Ranger Power Forums seem to indicate the return of Power Rangers Network later  in 2008.

Power Rangers Network was at one point the second most reconizable Power Rangers site on google and yahoo searches. However, its main page was often times incomplete and barely served a purpose ( in the early days it did provide some good downloads).

The site however, was able to create a popular message board. The PRN Forum was once the largest message board in the fandom. The site was started by PRN Ranger. But the board itself was run by various admins over the years. Which included Marzeo, Micheal Bastian, White Tiger among others.

Once the PRN main page became complete dormant and PRN left the site completely, the board was move to Rider Power. And continued on under Marzeo and Kwaga Thunger ( who now owns Toku-fusion). The board began to slowly died off . And for the past several months has been off line.

Micheal Basitan bought the PRN domain from PRN Ranger. And currently has it parmed on Toku-Fusion. Rider Power wasn't interested in working with Bastian at the time and chose to to remain separate.

PRO planned on partnering up with  Ranger  Power after this went down. But nothing ever came of it and the board went offline with not real explination. PRO  ended up reorginzing its own  board into Rider Power.

For the first time in awhile the message on Ranger Power  has been changed. Its unclear what exactly the plan is, and what incarnation PRN will come back as.

4/7/8  Some posters at Rangerboard are talking about bring Rangerforums back. Its unclear whether they have permission from the owner of the board.

A few years back, Ranger Forums was a  Vbulletin forum that had a loyal board member ship. It was probably the third or fourth largest forum at the time. Liam was the owner and decided to sell to Snoopwarner. After a database crash the board was lost. And Snoops simply continued things at the Retrocenter Forum. Which can be seen as a contiuation of Ranger Forums anyway.

Its unclear what these new posters are bringing to the table. It seems like they are just going to start a new board with the same name and try to get back the old members. Click here for there post  on RB. They also made a post on Ranger Retroforms which may shed more light on things.

03/21/08 It a fun bit of  nostalgia for me, I have recently been reading Delta Reds' Lightspeed Rescue remake. A fic I originally had a hand in creating.

The Lightspeed remake is set in Delta's EVG remake universe. Which I recently plugged here and probably have ( and will) many times. It details the story of Operation Lightspeeds battle against the  Demons.

Kendrix Morgan returns from the Lost Galaxy remake, to help Lightspeed develop Ranger powers of their own. And finds herself thrown back into the role of Pink Ranger, when new Lightspeed Pink goes missing.

Led by  Carter Greyson the new Lightspeed team is forced to battle agaisnt he demons. But are they ready to face the evil of Dobolico's forces?  You can find out in Episode 1 of this exciting series.Which is only part of the greater EVG Universe. The comprhenshive alternate Timeline to the Power Rangers Universe.

To read more of about the remake's creation , click here ( includes spoilers). To read the first episode ( "Operation Lightspeed Part 1: The Awakening")  of the fan fic series, click here .  The EVG universe has no association to Power Rangers or Disney. It is just a fan made series.

3/21/08  I have been slowly working on the Overdrive section of the site. I meant what I said a few weeks ago. I want to make this site more active,  like it was during  2004 and 2005. I just  haven't had anything in the final draft phase yet. Hench why I have not been posting my recent work. If you think my spelling errors are bad now, imagine if I didn't even proofread. Anyway, I plan on getting this OO section finished. Then I will start getting the JF section updated.

3/21/08  Mesogog has restarted Power Ranger Empire with a new database. This is not going to be confused with  the resurection of   Henshin Empire. Which is still around as a separate but affilated  entity. Mesogog gives his reasoning here.

Power Ranger Empire  was the second biggest Power Rangers forum at point. Which its orgins pointing back to 2003.  And develped a loyal following from its membership.

The Forum has always been known for a lot of changes. As Mesogog has always claimed that it was his experiment. So he played arond with a lot of things. At one point the site became Odd Empire, after a meger with the now defunct Odd Sentai site.

But it reverted back to PRE soon after. Later, Mesogog decided to rename the board Henshin Empire. After a period the name reverted once again to PRE. Until the boards eventual demise.Mesogog closed the site and vowed never to open it again.

3/21/08  The Spandex Report is a Newsletter/web portal that is worth a look. It provides a guide to all sorts of news on the show and the fandom. They even list the latest fan  fiction and multimedia related links. Its a great resource if you just want to see what is going on in the fandom.

3/21/08 At Rangerboard, Power Animals  said that there is the possibility that there might end up being some team up after all. Power Animals didn't give away too many details. He wouldn't say  if this would invovle the Overdrive cast or some other group of Rangers. And it  is not a lock to happen. Aparently, the Writers Strike delayed some of the shooting. But they are getting ready to shoot again. Here is his post on the subject. Continue to read on in the thread, for futher information .

3/21/08 Tommy Lawson, posted his thoughts on why he thinks  production of Power Rangers won't move to Canada. And about why it would be a bad move by Disney. He orginally posted this at the Toonzone forums. But the The GKA times  transcriped his post. Check it out.

3/13/08  Power Animals has confirmed through his source, that Live Action Power Rangers will continue in 2009. Thus officially ending speculation that a animated series would replace Live Action Power Rangers.. This is good news, as we are getting at least one more year of Live Action Power Rangers. Go to PRO's own Rider Power for PA's post on this.

3/13/08  I would like to plug the EVG fan fic universe. It changed url not to long ago. But it has been a fan fic series for several years, written by Delta Red. Its a remake of Power Rangers, staring his own character ( Mathew Corbott). Orginally it started our as a remake of Lost Galaxy that retconed the end of Space. But later a Lightspeed Rescue remake was made ( initially inspired by ideas from myself, but Delta really made the LR remake a reality). Later a Time Force remake was made. With the idea of another series to conclude the saga. But soon other pieces were written for the universe. Recently Delta Red has decided to go back and rewrite MMPR-Space, to fit his universe better. He is a very good writer. I recommend you checking out his work. He has been dedicated to this project for years. The series is not yet complete and is very much a work in progress. Some seasons were taking down for the rewrites. But there are a few of the season still up. So there is plenty to read and will be even more later.

3/13/08 Rangercast ( the Podcast) recently had a audio interview with Valiere Varone. Who plays Kendrix Morgan during Lost Galaxy. She currently has a carreer has a interior designer and seems to have a wonderful family. Varone was very open to the fandom during her time on the show. Many fans showed her support when she came down with Lukiema while still filmng. Which lead to Meledy Perkins reprising ehr role as Karone, to replace Valiere's character. Valiere came back for the finale and ended up making a full recovery. And from all accounts seems to be doing well. But listen to the interview to hear her story and interesting insites ogn the show;s production..

3/13/08  I would like to plug this new site by MTADoug. Its not exclusively  a Power Rangers site, but seems to have a lot of Power Rangers content.  The site is called Stumpf Productions.

3/13/08 This is sort of old news, but Henshin Empire is once again back. Henshin Empire being one of the many names of the forum once known as Power Ranger Empire. The forum closed down months prior. As the owner ( Mesogog) lost interest and decided to open up a non Power Rangers forum. But now he has decided to bring his forum back, using the Henshin Empire name once again. Its a completely fresh start with a new database. And he claims that the PRE name will never be used again. But visitors of the old board have already returned. Power Rangers Empire/Henshin Empire was among the bigger Power Rangers and Toku  forums until it shut down.

3/13/08 I feel silly for posting this now. But the Writers Strike ended several weeks ago. Which saw the members of the writers union in holywood go on strike for several weeks. This effected the Power Rangers production teams as well. But now the strike is over.

3/6/8 I  would like to apoligize to the vistors of this site. In the last few years I have done a medicore job maintianing this site. I don't know if it was  burn out, lazyness,  or lack of interest. It was probably a little bit of all of this. But my creative spark had been rekindled. And I am still very much a Power Rangers fan.

So starting now I am going to get this site active again. To the level that it was in 2004 and 2005. Where I  basically had to build the site from scratch ( with a lot of help in terms of layout). I am starting out with much more this time and a healthy amount of traffic. So I know  can take it back to that level and beyond.

I want a site that is routinely updated and relevent.  I can't promise an update everyday but I am going to try to work on the site everyday. I have worked on the site for the past four  days. My return actually officially happened on Monday. When the new main page went up. I I have already adapted some things to Jungle Fury. Thanks to Mr-Aftershock for the new site banner and picture on the splash.

I know I have made these kind of promises before. But this time I really want to get things going again. I  have been working on my OO episode guide. I just need to give it a proofread before I post it. I want to get OO caught up and begin working on the JF section. A brief summery of JF is up already.

I am back full time now. Not in a literal sense where I am going to be working on this 40 hours a week. But in the sense that will be updating at the rate I did in 04 and 05.So let  lets hope we can get this thing back together. Scroll down to read some of the new newsbytes I just added.

2/6/8   I fully recommend everyone give the Rangercast podcast a try. This is not to be confused with the Rangercast Message Board.  Chris Funaro gives a lot of wonderful insights into the Power Rangers universe. Tyler is an excellent host. An there is a whole panel of other opinions. If  you haven't listened to the show since the beggning, I'd suggest givening it another try.

2/6/08 Power Rangers Online woild like to wish a Happy Birthday to Chris Funaro. Otherwise known as Cmdr Crayfish. He is a  well known Power Rangers fan that is among one of the most intellegent posters at any PR board.

He used to run Funaroverse. Which was once a web portal for the Power Rangers fandom. And was pretty successful for the few years that it was active.Chris current runs the funaroboard. A small board that is meant a small place for PR fans to go and with little rules. He also is one of the members of the Rangercast podcast. And can be found posting at Rangerboard.

3/6/08   Joe Rovang has written thrity-eight screenplays for a fan series using Jetman ( the sentai series before  Zuyranger, which was used for MMPR Season 1). The scripts are written in hopes  of them one day getting produced into actual episodes for a fan series. He is going to start releasing the scripts weekly. So that fans can read the series. The last few episodes are are being written now.  Here is the thread he made on Rangerboard.

Joe Rovang is a well known Power Rangers fan that has been around for a long time. He is a well known fan fiction author but best known for his work on The Writers Guide To The Power Rangers Universe. Which is  a massive guide to Power Rnagers continuity, designed to help fan fic authors research the show's history. He also has othe projects listed at Rovang.org.

3/6/08   This is way late. But in case you missed it you may want to check out the official press release on Jungle Fury. It contains spoiler so be warned. Even though the show has already started,  it reveals who the fourth and fifth Rangers are going to be. Burgandy Ranger posted the release at Rangerboard. before JF debuted.

3/6/08  Catching up on some old news, Poweranimals reported some time ago... If live action does continue it may also move production to Canada. Due to the fact that it would cost the same to producr them in Nrw Zealand. This was reported at PRO's own Rider Power a few months ago. Check it out.

Power Rangers was orginally produced in Valencia, California. and remained there for the first ten seasons of its production. After Disney bought the show they moved production to New Zealand, in hopes of saving money. They also fired most of the production staff. But production costs in New Zealand has been rising.  Which could lead to the show moving to Canada.

01/31/08 Power Animals has some potentially great news. It seems that one of his sources has reason to believe that there may very well be a live action.  Power Rangers series in 2009. Power Animals was of course one of the few people that broke the original rumor about Power Rangers possibly switching to animation in 2009. Which has been widely known for the past few months. This is the first news that really seems to give hope that live action may continue. So this latest news is encouraging for those of you that wish Power Rangers to continue as a live action series.  But its still  not confirmed that we will get another live action season yet. So don't think this means we are diffinitly out of the woods Power Animals reported the news at Rider Power, PRO's very own message board.

For more info on how you can help get the word out about Saving Live Action, visit the Save Power Rangers website. Which is affilated with PRO. Special thanks to Ross for his wonderful work on the site. As well as Rangerking for some of the design.

1/31/08 Power Rangers Online Message Board has merged with Talk Rider, Digimon Central forums, Sailor Moon Kingdom forums ( not the invisonfree), and Lahana Forums. If you had an account at any of the forums it should work at Rider Power. All the databases of the boards were merged. So most if not all of the posts should be there. This is not the end of the Power Rangers Online Message Board or any of the other forums invovled. Its just a new beginning. And an attempt to create a big Power Rangers and Kamen Rider Board ( with other toku like genres mixed in).

Power Animals and MR-Aftershock will be givening us exclusive updates on Power Rangers Jungle Fury and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. Both men have are the ones to discover Dragon Knights preduction. Power Animals has also broke a lot of PR news as of late.

1/31/08 Once again, it has been awhile since my  last update. I  hope to update more continually once Power Rangers Jungle Fury begins. PRO's sister Kamen Rider site will update more once Dragon Knight starts. But there is some interesting PR news above. So nows a good time to update this news page.
11/19/07  Gage has brought back his webportal. Ranger Web Portal is a source for Power Rangers news. As well as for whats going on in the fandom.  He briefly opened the site in the summer but had to close it. Now it is back. Check it out for all the latest news.
11/19/07 Power Animals is reporting that Jungle Fury is currently scheduled to be the last live action season of Power Rangers. At which point the show would switch to animation. As has been previously rumored. PA is suggesting a massive fan writing campiagn to convince Disney otherwise. Please keep this letters proffesional. As any kind of hateful letters will hurt the cause. If you are sceptical, keep in mind that it will be too late once an official announcement is made. Its better to act now, it surely can't hurt. Emails are ok, but regular letters are much more effective. As it shows you care more. Here is PA's thread at Rangerboard. Here is the address you should use in the letters, also from PA:

The Walt Disney Company

11/19/07 The GKA Times  is reporting about  a story on Yahoo news, that shows  Jackie Mericand picketing for the Writers Guide Strike. Which shows that the strike affects Power Rangers as well. Tommy Lawson ( posting his thoughts at Toonzone Forums) thinks this  could be part of the reason why the switched to animation is being discussed for 2009.

Jackie Marchand is a long time Story Editor for the Power Rangers Television Show. And also serves as an Executive Producer. The GKA Times is a news site for various action adventure shows. Which mainly deals with Power Rangers and Toku.  Toozone is a long running forum for Cartoons and other kids properties. Here is the actual post  on the subject,  at the GKA Times. Go there for more information.

11/19/07 I  It appears Stan Lee at one point  wanted to adapt Super Sentai into an American TV series. Margaret Loesch tried to help him sell the concept to Kids TV Networks. But they were laughed out of every network. When Loesch became President of Fox Kids she orderd Power Rangers from Haim Saban ( who had the same idea  years later).

The  Blast From the Past website  did an interview with Loesh  that revealed this. The interview itself was about the X-Men animated series, but  Stan Lee and Power Rangers came up . Loesch was President of Fox Kids in the late ninties. And is responsible for bringing Power Rangers, X-men and many other shows to the Network. Blast from the Past is a website dedicated to old ninties shows on Fox Kids.   For more information on the subject go to the interview

11/19/07  A little while ago, Power Animals released information on the new Jungle Fury cast. revealing the actual cast in the proccess. Here is his thread at Rangerboard, for all the information.

11/19/07 Go here for a sneak peak at the new official Jungle Fury Website. As found by Power Animals.

11/19/07 Rangerboard is holding another fan gathering in New York City. They did a few a few  years back, that were said to be successful.  Go to this thread for more information. Power Rangers Online has no affilation with this gathering. Kids get your parent's permission before going.

11/04/07  The Writers Guild has officially gone on strike , as of Monday Nov. 4. This effects all forms of scripted television and film. One can expect it could have a big effect on Power Rangers as well. Since the writers are members of the guild. Production on Overdrive is obviously already complete. But they must at least be in the pre-production phase for Jungle Fury. So you have to wonder if production will be halted at some point. No new scriptes can be produced by non producers. So one would expect it would, if this strike goes on long enough.

11/04/07 Back to more current news.  It seems that Power Ranger Empire has shut down yet again. And this time seems to be for good. Mesogog has cited unhappiness with the fandom and server costs as an issue.. He did thank all his friends and supporters. And will be making a non Power Rangers website in the future. But it appeares as though PRE is not coming back this time. Here is his message on  the domain.
11/04/07  And there you have it. That should catch us up. If I forgot anything important I may post it later. But I am sure most of you have been following as closely as I. The Power Rangers going to animation possibility is pretty big. But we don't know if its really going to happen or not.. So we will follow that story as it happens. Again I apoligize for wait this long to update.

11/04/07   A few months ago, rumors about Power Rangers becoming an animated cartoon in 2009 swirled. I apoligize for not posting about this important rumor  sooner. Power Rangers Online has not updated since that news broke. But it from the people I have talked to this looks like more then a rumor.

Samuell Benta referenced some rumor ( at Starpoints Rangercast) about Power Rangers possibly going animated in 2009.  Not much was said about it. But it seems to be something Disney is actually thinking about This wouldn't effect Jungle Fury but the season afterwards. Here is the thread on the subject. Make sure you scroll down to see the actual post. Here is a news article I have written, that goes more in depth.

11/04/07  According to MR-Aftershock ( one of the key people that broke the Kamen Rider Dragon Knight story) , four episodes of Kamen Rider Dragong Knight have been produced. Currently production is on hatius. We seem to be looking at a March debut now as a start date for the show. With merchandise coming out in May. A network announcement is forth comming ( although most evidence points to Cartoon Network,. its just not offcially announced by either party yet) I personally am looking forward to another American Toku show and hope it is a success. As the more Toku shows the better it is for the fans and the genre's success in America. And of course could conciveabley pave the way for more imports/adaptions.  It remains to be seen if we will ever see the amount of  Toku we got in Power Range'rs heyday. But Kamen Rider Dragon Knights sounds like a cool concept.  And should be fun to watch when it debuts in 2008.
09/11/07 Aparently, the Morphicon Team is getting closer on a decison as to whether there will be a second Morphicon or not. The staff is going to get together and discuss what they need to do to make a second con happen. And more importantly, whetner they are going to do another one or not. Its said to be  looking good, but it is not a lock that there will be another one.

Morphicon was the first Power Rangers Convention ever. Which featured various Casts and Crew , as well as many fans. The Power Rangers Convention idea was for a long time considered almost impossible. But Maurreen  and her team made it happen. Morphicon was approved by Disney as a  official Power Rangers Convention. And they are arpently the only group Disney is interested in being invovled with. So any other convention group would probably have a very hard time getting any kind of official clearance ( not to mention doing a brand new conventions would be very hard anyway). Hopefully The Morphicon Staff will ultimately decide to do a second convention. As the first wone was said to be a lot of fun and a big success. They are looking at a possible 2009 or 2010 convention date. The actual location is up in the air, but it probably will be in LA again. Since its the easiest and cheapest way to attract more actors. Since most of them live and work up there.

11/04/07 Its been a few months since Power Rangers Online had been updated. Much less since any news has been  reported her. Of course news stops for no one. And we missed out on reporting some news the past few months. One that could very well end up being a huge story in several months. We will try to catch up as best we can. I apoligize for waiting so long to post the  next four newsbytes. And will try to stay on top of the news more often. I also really want to get the Overdrive section current again.

08/20/07  Star Points Rangercast  has already  the source of big news. Samuell Benta has confirmed that there will be no Operation Overdrive/ Jungle Fury team up next season. It seems that the money just isn't there. It doesn't surprise me at all. Since the move to New Zealand, team ups seem to no longer be a lock. As we got no team up for Wild Force/Ninja Storm or Space Patrol Delta/Mystic Force. In a sense its really not that big of a deal. The team up concept does get wattered down when they happen every year. When team ups don't happen every year, they become more special.
08/20/07  A new board has been created by Mesh ( the Owner of Starpoints), Samuell Benta ( protrays Will on Operation Overdrive) and Mysterious. It is a board designed  for cast member interacton with the fans. They already have Samuell Benta (Will), Gerald Urquhart (Flurious), David Weatherly (Spencer) ,  Ria Vandervis (Miratrix), Karen Ashley (Aishia), Rhoda Montemayor (Rose), Steve Cardenas (Rocky)  are current signed up or have agreed too. Its an interesting concept that seems to be off to a good start. The board is called Star Points Rangercast.

08/20/07  Kamen Rider Dragon Knight has been picked up by the Cartoon Network. So it looks like it is officially good to go. It won't debut untill early 2008 however. Cartoon Network is an interesting station, as it usually just airs cartoons. But Dragon Knight will be targeting kids so it makes sense. Plus Cartoon Network is a reasonably big network. This is a good day for American Toku fans.

Actress Kathleen Gati has a site that confirms this. Aparently  she is going to be a guest star on the show at some point. Scroll down towards the bottom of the site and you will see Kamen Rider listed ( it says its on Cartoon Network). It refers to it as Kamen Rider  Black Knight.  Its not confirmed or not, as to if the show has had a name change or if that was just some mistake . Click here to go to the  Gati's site.

For more on Kamen Rider Dragon Knight check out Kamen Rider Online. Which is  Power Rangers Online's sister site, dedicated to  Kamen Rider (specifically Dragon Knight and any other future American incarnation)..

07/26/07 I've prepared an editorial about the Tyzonne character and how he seems to have lost a lot of his initial luster. I'd like to do more of these type of opinion pieces in the future. As I think it ads to the site. If anyone is interesting in writing there own editorial, send them into me and I will see about putting them on the site.  For now here is, "The Problem With Ty".

07/26/07   Bandai America ( the American branch of the toy company that destributes Power Rangers and Super Sentai toys)  has released a press release  regarding the 15th anniversy of the show and various activties associated with it. Which includes a tour and details on how fans can vote Power Ranegrs toys into the Toy Hall of Fame. As well as information for actor apearances at Comic-con. Go to Bandai's site to read the press release in full.

07/25/07   It seems Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is going through some type of recasting. Most notably, the role of Kit Taylor seems to have been recast. all the important information. Kit Taylor was orginall slated to be played by Matt Smith.  Who preformed the role in the piolet presentation. Now it seemsthat Stephon Lunsford is playing the role. According to IMBD.

The first five episodes of Dragon Knight are being rewritten to suit a younger audience.  Credit this story to Power Animals and MR-Aftershock. As revealed in a thread at Rangerboard. Here  is the thread, which explains more. Read the full first page to get the whole story.

This may cause some fans to groan. But it is far to early to tell just how the show is going to be. As we don't even know how the first five episode would have been anyway. It makes sense for them to target a younger audience, since they have to suit their target demo. It doesn't neccessarly mean that the show will end up been better or worse because of it. Power Rangers suites a young demo, yet most of the older fans have no problem still watching it.

No word on where Dragon Knight will actually air is avialable. Just that it is slated for an early 2008 release. For more information on Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, go to our Kamen Rider Website. Kamen Rider Online is still in its begining stages.
06/25/07 This past weekend Morphicon, the very first Power Rangers Convention took place. From the sound of things it looks to have been a big success.  Congrats should go out to Maureen and all the orginizers. Various cast and crew members from the past attended. As well as the current Overdrive Ranger cast. Such vets as Austin St. John, Steve  Cardenas,  Walter Johnson, Jason Narvy, Emma Lahana and many more showed up. Not to mention Jackie Marchand, Koichi Sakamoto, and Tony Oliver among the crew side. Visit this thread at Rangerboard for some fun stuff regarding the convention.
06/25/07  It seems Operation Overdrive is going to be the first season of Power Rangers to completely be released on DVD. The catch is that its not going to be in one single boxset. Its going to be in a series of Volumns. But its better then nothing. Hopefully this will lead to better things down the line.   Click here for the article confirming this.

06/25/07  It appears that the Jason David Frank bowed out of his scheduled MMA fight. Due to the Promoter changing the rules to boxing only. Since the opponent only knew boxing. JDF did not like the last minute change and bowed out of the main event. Interestingly enough, the promoter was using JDF's past on Power Rangers as a draw for the show. And it seems people actually showed up to see JDF fight. Its a shame the fight didn't happen. Check out the article on the subject here..

06/25/07 Rangerboard member Lunar Wolf Ranger ( along with Zeored)  meant Cerina Vincient at Texas Frightmare Weekend. He got some photes of her and himself. Which he posted in a thread at Rangerboard.

06/25/07  I want to put a plug in for Power Rangers Planet. Its site thats been around for a year or so and has become pretty popular.  It seems to mainly be a site for downloads and such. It is worth checking out.  Linear Ranger's new Jungle Fury website is up.  Mystic Diamond of Starpoints has put up his Jungle Fury site.   I'd also  like to place a plug for a Power Rangers message board called Ranger Discovery. Ranger  Discovery seems failry active and worth trying out. Another board called Tokusatsu-fusion, is worth a try. Its run by Kwaga Thunder, the current head admin of Ranger Power. Which is another forum worth checking out.

06/25/07  Blue Power Shrine has gotten a makeover. I have gening it the PRO layout. As it seemed to make sense, since it was much better then the basic layout it had before.I'm probably going to do that with my other affilates as well. I have already done that with Kamen Rider Online.

06/25/07 With Kamen Rider Dragon Knight coming in 2008, I have decided to open up a Kamen Rider website. Mainly focusing on Dragon Knight and any future US Incarnations. There will be some content on the Japenese versions and Masked Rider. Obviously there isn't much at the site now. But there will be time. Particlually after Dragon Knight debuts. You can also check out the website's forum.  Which actually has been around for several months. It is hosted by me and ran by MR-Aftershock. I also admin the board. So it seems natrual for Kamen Rider Online and Ridertalk to work together ( the names of the website and board respectively).

06/22/07 Gage has already closed Ranger Web Portal. He is busy in his personal life. Its a shame, because I thought his site had a lot of potential. But it only lasted for a few weeks.

I am sure he had good reason to take it down though. As running a Power Rangers site is just a hobby. A news/web portal is time consuming to run. And not everyone has the time for  that kind of work load.

Obviously, our real lives are  more important then running a Power Rangers site. But there will always be someone new with a new site. So if this is truely the end for Gage's work in the fandom, its not the end of the world. I have removed all links to his blog, as the links all seem to be broken now.  If anyone is interested in starting their own web portal. Give me an email and I can give you someone advice on getting started.

06/20/07 Jason David Frank has aparently been trying his hand at Mixed Martial Arts. He has already been in two fights and is fighting Ron "the Badger Macmasters" in an Amature MMA Show ( at the Williamson County Pavilion, in Illinios).

Mixed Martial Arts ( MMA) is a rising sport that combines Martial arts and Amature Wrestling. UFC is the top MMA promotion in the US and is in a big boom period. Which has made MMA very hot.

JDF isn't really fighting for a big promotions or anything. Sounds like something he is doing for fun or on the side. But it is an interesting story none the less.

Credit the Story to Figure Four Newsletter ( I believe you have to have premium access to see the newsbyte) and .siude.com  (the article seems to be gone). Here is a thread at Rangerboard about it, which has the Suide Story.

06/19/07  It seems that there was PR content at this year's lisencing show after all. Ray Calderon, Con, and Lisa J attended the convention. Ray has a bunch of scans, which include the logo for Power Rangers Jungle Force. Which seems to be a lock for the title of PR 2008 now. Of course the title was revealed several months ago. Ray also has scans from other properties at the show. Including Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. I should note that I was wrong several newsbytes back. I said that the licencing show is about kid properties. It is actually for a variety of movie, tv , and video game propertise. So its far from just a kids show convention. Its a convention for just about everything. Its actually not for the general public though. Its for the companies invovled to sell their franchises to advirtisers.  As you will see by viewing the picture gallery. Ray Calderon is somehow able to get in every year.  View the thread about the new Logo on Rangerboard. View Ray's pictures.

06/17/07  Ranger Web Portal has been restarted at a new address.  The old link no longer works. The site will still serve the same purpose at its new address. I recommend checking it out. Its a great way to catch up on Power Rangers News. The webmaster ( Gage) is off to a good start. Click here to go to the site.

06/14/07  Some fans not able to attend Morphicon this year have decided to try their hand at a new Power Rangers Convention. Tentatively planned for 2010. The Group is called Ranger Alliance. And plants on running an East Coast Power Rangers Convention. They are looking into Detriot, Chicago, and New York City.  Of course Detriot and Chicago are technically part of the Midwest. The project is in the early planning stages. So it is far from a lock. But its nice to see people trying.  As we would all probably like to see a second convention after Morphicon.  Here is the thread discussing this at Rangerboard.

0/6/14/07  Aparently the big team up episode could be airing. on ABC kids on August 11 and August 18.  I assume it will air earlier on Toon Disney. The title is "Once A Ranger".  It is slated to be a two parter.  Credit Power Rangers On-Air Central

06/14/07 Aparently there will most likely be no information for PR at the upcoming liscening Show in New York. Which will make the second year that no PR info is present. After a several year tradition of it being the place where the new PR Incarnation is revealed.

The Licensing Show is a yearly gathering of TV Execs. Where new televison products are presented to sell to advirtisers.  Mainly Children's  propertises are  presented there.

In the past Power Rangers always promoted its upcoming season. For several years Ray Calderon  ( Owner of Rangerboard  and founder of Power Rangers Central) found a way into the show. Making him the one to reveal the new Power Rangers   season's theme. Chronoranger  even went to a few early shows and shared the credit on the scope one year.

In recent years the new incarnation of Power Rangers has been announced in press releases, before the show. Just this past year there was no Power Rangers  presentation. So it looks like its the end of that era. As we already know the new incarnation's  name is  Jungle Force. Although its an early title that could change. Credit the Story to Linear Ranger

06/14/07  I have finally aquired the powerrangersonline.com domain. PRO.com was the orginal domain for PRO under Chronoranger. When the orginal PRO shutdown the domain was purchased by a third party , for advirtisement purposes. At which point it had multiple owners over the past several years. I have been trying to buy the domain for a few years now.  The domain recently expired and I was able to aquire it after the fact. Tts very satisfying to finally have the .com.

I am glad to have the domain back in the PRO family and back in the Power Rangers fandom. For now it parks on our current domain, powerrangersonline.org. Which means powerrangersonline.com will bring you to Power Rangers Online. I don't want to change domains at this point. But its nice having powerrangersonline.com parked on PRO. Its a great time  for Power Rangers Online.

06/14/07  PRO-Board and Rangergallery are back up. As some of you probably already know. The host fixed the problem a day or so ago. They just reset the database. So no information was lost.  Expect a major announcement invovling PRO-board soon. As we are merging with another forum. Our memberships and posts will be moved over to the said forum ( which will be revealed when the merger is complete). The other forum is more active and will be a good partner for PRO.

06/14/07  There is a new Web Portal  I would like to advirtise.  The Webmaster is collecting all the news from across the fandom and posting it in   his blog. He wants to create a resource for webmasters and fans in general. Its actually   a great idea. As the fandom can use a good web portal. He is also doing a newsletter.  I wish him the best of luck. I encourage every one of you to visit  Ranger Web Portal.

06/10/07  For some reason the databases accross my webhost account have disapeared. Which has resulted in Ranger Gallery and PROboard being down. I have database backups on my cpu. RG's back up was from several months ago. But its better then starting from scratch. However, before I mess with anything I am going to get in touch with my host. To see if anything can be restored. So please be  patient. I just wanted to give any curious people the heads up.

06/10/07  The_Light  from Rangerboard has revealed a cast pictuer fromt he shooting of the anniversy team up. Basically confirming that Johnny Yong Bosch ( Adam), Sally Martin
( Tori), Emma Lahana ( Kira), Richard Brancatisano ( Xander), and Matt Austin (Bridge) are coming back  for the big team up. With Bridge as the SPD Red Ranger. Which was pretty much already known anyway.  Here is the link to his thread with the picture.

05/21/07 Rangerking has created a splash to link to both of his sites on his Ranger Mania domain. A third cast site is expected to be created eventually. His two existing sites are Legacy of Power and Rangernews ( formly Rangermania)/ Legacy is a Power Rangers information site, much like PRO. Rangernews is a news sites with links to old interviews with cast and crews. Rangerking has put together a nice network for himself thus far.

http://www.rangermania.com

05/21/07  I have brought back he old Splash Page ( from when this layout first debuted), as most of you probably know by now. It just seemed to work better then just using this page as the splash. I think its a real nice splash. So thats why I brought it back. Previous plans to do audio podcasts and editorials have been dropped for now. But it doesn't mean that they won't happen in the future. I would say Editorals will eventually happen at least. Its jsut a matter of time and motivation. Power Rangers Online will continue to be a comprehensive resource to Power Ranger's  Mythology. As it has always been under my tenure.

http://rangerboard.com/showthread.php?t=104402

05/21/07 Over the past few weeks the archives to the orginal PRO have been avaliable on Way Back Machine. A website that archives websites. PRO's archives had been blocked by the current domain owners. But  now they are accesible for the time being. Its fun looking back at Chronoranger's PRO. Especially for me, since it insipried me to create this version of the site.

Power Rangers Online was created by Chronoranger in 1999 and grew to become a popular website and web portal. It launched its own succesfull forum on Coolboards and later Ezboard. In 2001 the site closed down and the Message Board became Domant.

In 2004. I decided to repopulate the Message Board and create my own site. Which eventually became the new Power Rangers Online. I have moved the remaining Ezboard posts to my current Vbullten version of the board.

http://web.archive.org/web/20010515194504/www.powerrangersonline.com/

05/21/07  According to the  Henshin Justice forum , the tenative title for PR 2008 is Jungle Fury . Not much is known about the season otherwise. Disney just registered the domain, no official press releases have been announced. It just seems likely as the tenative title.  The title could end up changing even so. The orginal title for Operation  Overdrive was Drive Force.

http://www.rangerboard.com/showthread.php?t=104174

05/21/07  According to Brown Ranger at Rangerboard , Emma Lahana is appearing in the piolet for a remake of the Bionic Woman. It was not said what role she has in it. But I assume its some sort of guest spot.

05/21/07  Once again the site has been in a bit of a lull. But things should be picking up as I catch up on  the OO section and other aspects of the site.  I may go on these king of breaks frequently. But rest assured Power Rangers Online should be around for a long time.

4/01/07  It seems Funaroverse no longer has Scorpion Rain up for download. I guess they were serious when they said limited time. I hope most of you were lucky to download it while you had the chance.

4/01/07  So aparently Power Animals  pulled an April Fools joke on the fandom. The whole thing about "At All Cost" building to the anniversary team up was just a joke. As anyone who saw the episode can see. We did get a cool little reference to Mystic Force though.

4/01/07 Chris Funaro and Derk Smith have put up a video featuring  the fifth part of Scorpion Rain. It is aparently the only copy they have left. They claim it will only be for a limited time so I would download it now while you have the chance. Its a pretty small file and easy to download. Even with dial up.

Scorpion Rain is a legendary fan film created by Amit Bhaumik, Joe Rovang, Derik Smith, and Satu. Chris Funaro got involved later in the project. Amit went on to become Story Editor for Power Rangers Wild Force. Personally writing "Reienforcements from the Future" and "Forever Red".

Scorpion Rain took place between Zeo and the Turbo movie. It was meant to show why Zedd and Ritas didn't stick around after Zeo. Since the Turbo Movie seemed to leave several loose ends from Zeo. It was all supposed to be an april fools joke ten years ago. But they were exposed and decided to not show the video to anyone. Forever Red was written using Scorpion Rain as its backstory.  A lot of people have been wanting  to see this for a long time. I would take advantage of this opertunity. The video can be accessed at the Funaroverse.

04/01/07 Tonight an new episode of Operation Overdrive debuts on Toon Disney, at 8 pm Eastern. The episode title is "At all Cost". According to Power Animals at Rangerboard, it features some build up th the 15th anniversy  team up. At least in a minor way.  Follow this link to read PA's spoilers. You will have to scroll down, the screename to look for is Power Animals Returns.

http://rangerboard.com/showthread.php?t=102522&page=2&highlight=costs

03/29/07  A Japanese magazine scan has revealed some rather interesting spoilers for the upcoming 15th Aniversy Special of Power Rangers. Which will be an episode of Power Rangers OO, airing later in the season.  According to the translation, Lord Zedd and Rita's son is going to be featured. With him ploting revenge against the Rangers. The article makes reference to a collection of hereos. Which probably has to do with the returning Rangers. Its long been known that  Johnny Yong Bosh was returning for the special. A long with what was rumored to be Emma Lahana, Sally Martin, and Richard Brancatisano.  The scan didn't give any names though or go into much detail at all.  The concept is diffinitly an interesting one. As it would be an excellent nod to the past for long time fans. And fitting for a one or two part anniversy special.

Of course this also has the real chance of not making sense. Since Zedd and Rita turned good after "Countdown to Destruction".  And with Rita becoming Mystic Mother , as we learned last season. Which already seemed to make little sense givening what happened in C2D.  Much to do with  Rita suddently looking older then she did in C2D. And just the fact that it was confusing as to how she could be the source of good magic in so short a time. It just didn't seem to completely jive.Of course there son could have went evil on his own or be somehow stolen from them and raised to be evil. But its going to leave confusion for many. And I get the feeling their might not be a long drawn out answer.

Another problem, is that the child would still be nine years old in Earth Years. But who knows how long it takes for Zedd and Rita's specious to reach maturity. Frankly, they should have just  used Dark's Spector's son. It would have made much more sense and still been a nice nod. Spector was actually killed, so his son would have more reason for revenge.

For better or worse it should be very interesting to see how the special unfolds. Especially if the list of returning Rangers is accurate. It will be nice having JYB  in for an apearance. Not something many would have ever expected to see again. It should be a fun team up episode. I just hope the son aspect makes sense. Even if the clues to the mystery are only vaguely solved.

Credit this story to DiscoInferno of Rangerboard. Who posted the scans there and his brief translation. These are the same scans that confirmed this years new battlizer design ( scans like this pop up every year, and have since NS).  Other sites reported the battlizer news but PRO never did.  Disco Inferno also broke that story on RB.  And did so a month or so back.

Here is the post with the magazine scan

Here is the post about the battlizer

03/27/07  I'd like to plug a fan site here, which is unaffilated with Power Rangers Online and is run by another webmaster. Of whom I don't know personally.  The site is called Power Rangers Unlimited. It has content for every season just about. With some season story  info, a lot of character stuff, downloads, and more. It also has a sister site that deals with Fan Fiction. Run by the webmaster's sister.

Go to Power Rangers Unlimted
03/27/07  The planned Morphicon fan convention looks to be a go. It is about to become the first ever Power Rangers Convention. Which is quite a feat for this fandom. As at one piont it was considered an impossibility. The crew invovled her really has worked their tales off. Maureen Dawson  ( better known as Ivydraken) has organized the whole thing. She is a long time member of the fandom and soon to be a Law School Graduate. The convention itself is happening in LA ,June 22-24. Its was first announced two years ago. Now Ivy has confirmed that it is diffinitly happening. But this is going to be the last convention she plans on running. So if there is ever another someone else will have to step up. And who knows if that is ever going to happen. I am going to link you to her recent thread at RB and the Morphicon Website.  Go to the below links for more information and contact info.

03/27/07 Rumors have surfaced at Rangerboard of a possible US adaption of Granzazer. Which is another Japenese Toku. Of the same genre as Super Sentai Its far from confirmed however. I suggest all of you read the thread I am about to link to. As it has evidence for both sides. The American Name is aparently Zodiac Guardians.

With Kamen Rider Dragon Knight being shopped around, its nice to see another potential American Toku series.  It would usher in a big rival of American Toku . As PR has been the only kid on the block for several years. Since Big Bad Beetleborgs ended. Sonlightson broke the news.

http://rangerboard.com/showthread.php?t=102384

03/27/07   I have found the old PRO site on Way Back Machine. The one that was owned by Mike Wayne and used the domain powerrangersonline.com.  Way Back Machine usually blocked it to carry out the domain owners wishes. Its owned by a  cybersquatter currently.  But for some reason the site wasn't blocked for a short time. Which allowed me to save the main page and some of the sections.  Below is what the Main Page looked like in those days.

Most of the links don't work. As they link to other parts of the Way Back Archive that is blocked. The link to the Ezboard takes you to an archive of what the Ezboard looked like back then. I don't know if I will do anything with the old site. I have been playing around with the idea of using the layout. But I  haven't talked to Mike Wayne in a long time. So I am not sure if I should do it.

http://powerrangersonline.org/oldpage.html

03/27/07 Once again I have been lacking with news updates. I plan on getting a few done now. I am not going to try to catch up for news that I missed. Odds your  got it from somwhere else anyway. I am just going to move forward.

I have however been keeping up with Overdrive the past several weeks. For those that don't know the Mystic Force section has been updated. With it now being laregly caught up. There is still more work to be done in areas. The MF Episode Guide is complete. The Overdrive section is up and running. I need to do the Zord and weapon profiles. I have been summerizing OO episodes as the series goes. I will update the OO episode guide very soon, if not the same day I post this.

I have found a banner program. And have been able to make more passable banner buttons for Overdrive. They don't match up with the old stuff perfectly. But they are sufficiant .  A lot of parts of the site still have a Mystic Force buttons instead of an OO one. Its going to take time for be to fix that. But the OO Section is up in datafiles if you can't find it.
3/05/07  Tonight Power Rangers Operation Overdrive debuts its third episode ( last weeks premiere was actually two episodes).  The new episode is titled "The Underwater World. I enjoyed last weeks premiere. I really like the new cast so far.  It will be interesting to see the direction the season goes in. The episode airs tonight on Toon Disney, at 8 PM Eastern.

2/27/07 The popular Funaroverse website is now being updated again. Chris Funaro (Commander Crayfish)  started the site with Derik Smith (Derik). With Jesse Herndon ( Sirstack),  Lynn ( Symbolic Agony), and others on staff. The site's goal was to not only provide PR news, but to try to better connect the fandom. By letting  everyone know what other webmasters or fanfic writers were up to.  There was also a few good opinion pieces and interviews. Most notably one with former Power Rangers Story Editor, Judd Lynn.
It started modestly as a geocities page with no advertising from anyone invovled with the site. And gradually grew to become one of the more popular Ranger sites on the web. It served as a valauble resource for the fandom. Aroung the time of Wild Force's end Funaroverse ceased to be active. But the site remained up as an archive. There were a few breif periods of updates periodically ( one short perioud during DinoThunder). But it was not active for all intents and purposes.

Chris and Derik went on to create Funaroboard to act as a niche board where people could say what was on their mind without recourse from a mod staff. Now Funaroverse is back with a new look. Updates are now frequent again. And it apears the site is back for the long haul. The fandom could use a good web portal again. I am glad to see the site back. I encourage everyone of you to visit the site. Most of the old staff is back. It looks like Lynn is not part of the site anymore, however Impy is now part of the staff.

Chris Funaro, Derik Smith, and Jesse Herndon are long time PR fans that have been a major part of the Power Rangers Fandom since its beginning. Derik and Jesse were invovled with the enfamous Scorpion Rain Fan Film. Jesse is currently the editor of TV.com's Power Rangers Section. He is the owner of Power Rangers Spoiler Warnings, which still exists as an archive. He had a short stint as Editor of the Writers Guide before Joe Rovang returned to the postiton. Funaro has long been a great poster at Power Rangers Newsgroups and Message Boards. I seriously have never meant a more intellegent Power Rangers fan. Visit Funaroverse by clicking on the link below.

2/26/07  The Power Rangers "Kick Into Overdrive" tonight, as Power Rangers Operation Overdrive debuts on Toon Disney.  Updates at PRO should become more frequent as Overdrive continues. The Overdrive section is finally up. There isn't much there but it will grow week by week.

I apologize for the hokey graphics for Overdrive. This is only temporary. Both my graphic designers from last season are no longer working on the site. So I am behind in getting new banners for Overdrive. So for now the tacky banners and buttons will be used for Overdrive. I hope to get this fixed soon.

The Mystic Force section still needs updates. I was able to update the episode guide for the season. Only the final two episodes are left to summerize. Expect more updates to that section as time allows. I know have failed to report a lot fo the news that has been reported on other sites, the past few months.

With my focus on making this site an up to date archive  the news aspect may suffer greatly. I would suggest visiting my friend's site for up to date Ranger news, when I can not provide it.. Visit Rangerking's Rangermania, which is linked to below.

Thus doesn't mean that I am not going to post news here. I am just not promising to allways be up to datwe with it. As my focus will be  writing about  what has happened on the show. I would like to incorporate more editorial pieces to the site this season.

Rangermania.
12/15/06  Ross "Jzt451" has gone back to making  PR Websites. You may know him from some of his older works, in addition to assisting me on PRO and Ranger Gallery.  He has opened a new website called Ranger Album.

Ross opened a Dinothunder Website in 2004.  Ross attempted to expand and run and SPD site on a new subdomain. Eventually he decided to open a PR site for every season called the Morphing Grid. Eventually he scrapped that entirely and created the Morphing Grid Gallery. Ross stepped down from hsi duties and closed his site. I actually owned his domain at the time. I have sensed sold it to someone else.

Now Ross is back with a new domain and another website. This one seems to be a full PR website that Morphing Grid was intended to be. The site is under heavy construction. But I have no doubt it will match his prior quality in time.

12/15/06  Power Ranger Empire has reopened. Mesogog ( now Shadow Master) has found a back up for it. He has decided to bring the site back after all. The site is supposed to open this weekend, if not already.  All the posts and threads from before are still going to be there. Congratulations to the members there. I know the plays was well liked by its membership and will still. be. Club Showdown will be opened as a separate Project.

Go to Power Rangers Empire.

11/29/06   It seems that Power Rangers Empire and Ranger Forums have closed down. Although that may depend on your point of view.

Power Rangers Empire was started by Mesogog in  2003.. His goal was to create a kid back forum for Power Rangers fans to gather. PRE provided downloads, picture galleries, and other services not provided by other boards at the time. It  grew into the second biggest board in the fandom. It was very well loved among its members. But there were plenty of others who didnt like the site at all. But no one can deny it was a legimate board in the fandom. There was some kind of server crash or hack that caused Mesogog to lose  PRE. Mesogog has decided to open a non PR board. I suspect many of his members will visit there, and it will pretty much be the same thing. So I wouldn't count PRE out just yet. Go to PRE for more information.

http:///www.powerrangerempire.com

Rangerforums was created months after PRE by Liam. It was a smaller PR board that had a loyal membership base. It became most notable for having every episode of PR avialable for download. When Liam could no longer run the site he sold it to SnoopsWarner. Rangerforums just had some kind of  database error, which caused most of it to be unrecoverable. Some of the Media threads were recovered. Snoops is trying to recover the rest, but it doesn't look likely. He has directed the members there to go to the Ranger-Retrocenter Forums that he just restarted. He moved some of the media threads there. So this looks like another case where the spirit of the board will survive under a new name. Retro Forums  was actually a board he had separately before, but he is restarting it.   Here is the url for the new board.

11/20/06 There is also a rumor going around (according to Shadowzord) that Johnny Yong Bosch.  is coming back for a special team up. Also set to return at this point are Emma Lahana,  Sally Martin, and possibly Richard Brancatisano. Brandon Jay McLaren was supposed to be a part of the team up but had to drop out, due to another commitment. So if this goes down he should be replaced. This rumor was actually reported more than a month ago. But I felt it was worth noting now, for those of you unaware.. I actually reported the JYB rumor when the story broke eslewhere. But I never reported the rumor about the others returning. Again it is not official yet. But this looks like it will happen, in some shape or form. Based on what Shadowzord has said. But let me be clear, its just supposed to be a team up type thing ( probably a one or two parter). It is not them returning to be the Overdrive Rangers.
11/20/06   A very interesting rumor has just surfaced at Rangerboard. Aparently someone who visited  Youmacon ( a big scifi and fantasy convention)  learned that Tony Oliver is returning to Power Rangers for Operation Overdrive. Now this is by no means confirmed, so take this with a grain of salt.

Oliver more famous for his voice acting in Robotech, is very underated in fandom history. He was PR's Supervising Produce for the first few years of MMPR. Which is the equilvant to what we call Story Edtior now. Basically the head writer.  Oliver was  heavily invovled with the creation of the show and a lot of its concepts. He also had bit voice acting parts. He played the voice of Saba, The Wizard of Deception, the Megazord voice you heard when the orginal megazord formed, ect... He continued to write episodes here and there until Turbo.  And even came back for some voice acting roles and produced/wrote some specials. He was a co producer on the show  (after his run as Supervising Producer ended  during Season 2) until Zeo. He also was a supervising producer for VR Troopers and Masked Rider.

Its hard to tell what his return would bring to the show. Since times have obviously changed, MMPR ( although Oliver had other ties with PR for years after, as noted above) was the beginning of PR and a very different era. We don't know what new ideas Oliver would bring in or what his  philosphy would be. If I had to guess, I would say that things wouldn't change very drastically . But I think Oliver could be a very creative addition to the production team. Of course the rumor doesn't reveal what his role would be. But I would assume some sort of wrting or producing role. But thats just my speculation. Again this could all wind up being tottally false. Here is the thread that sparked this discussion.

http://rangerboard.com/showthread.php?t=97193&page=3

This thread has more about Oliver's background. Its a thread from Funaroboard.

11/20/06 Its been a little while since I posted an update. But the site is far from dead. I just uploaded some new Mystic Force content. With more to come in the future. The forum has been moved to Vbulletin software.  All posts and memberships from the invisionfree were moved over. Posts from the old Ezboard also were moved. Posts and Memberships from Lahana Forums were also merged into the new software.

10/29/06  I want to point out a upstart website that could end up being a good resource. Arrow has been running Ranger Wiki for  several months. It is an intereactive resource. It is the software taken from Wikipedia.  If you sign up you can add informationa and edit it. Or you can just visit and read whats there. In time it could really become a valuable guide to the show.

10/29/06 Micheal Bastian has brought back Power Rangers Network. He has purchased it from PRN Ranger. He obtianed some of the  files from the old message board. He has sinced merged those memberships and posts with Rangertalk. So if you are a member of the old PRN you might want to check RT out. Your old log in should work. This is not to be confused with Ranger Power Forums. Which is actually where the old PRN forums moved too. Micheal just has the files up from before the move. RP is now a compeletely separate entity. The PRN splash has also been obtained. Not much is present right now. But plans seem to indicate that something shall be done with it overtime. I wish Micheal luck with it. I hope PRN can have a purpose as a website. If you have any serious ideas  on how to make the site better,  give me an email. I am not associated with the site. But I can pass the ideas a long to Micheal.

10/29/06  I want to correct a mistake I made earlier. Steve Wang was not a writer on Lost Galaxy. He directed " The Rescue Misson" episode of Lost Galaxy. And did some work on the Turbo movie. He has worked on other projects as well. Like directing Guyver 2: Dark Hero ( similar to Kamen Rider in a lot of ways).  He recently directed a movie entitled "Drive". Which may or may not be out yet. Special thanks to MR-Aftershock and Power Animals/Shadowzord for  pointing this out to me.

10/22/06 The following is a message from Steve Wang. That was orginally sent by MR-Aftershock:

"I am very aware that there are numerous forums that have posted early drafts of the script pages. I am not entirely happy about that and it's my fault for not taking precautions in the beginning. For some reason, it did not occur to me that there was a big cult following here in the US. (then again, I was not getting any sleep for weeks trying to prepare the show...)

Anyway, I am sure you are aware of this as well as I. There are a lot of haters on these forums and any negative press from them could greatly jeopardize the chance of this show getting picked up here in the US.

I don't know what they are expecting from the show. But you can tell them that it's definitely a kid's show (ages 7-12) and not to expect super dark stories and bloody violence. I have been a fan of Kamen rider since the 70's (that's why I was chose by the powers that be to re-imagine the US adaptation.)

You can count on the fact that the vibe of the show is definitely going to be different than MMPR. And you can expect that as a fan of the original series, I will treat the show with total respect. This is not going to be a carbon copy of Ryuki, it's loosely based on some of the concepts and storyline. Different does not mean disrespect. I was asked by Toei people if I know what IS Kamenrider? Guess they approve of my answer.

People who want to see this show succeed should support the effort and not blast it to hell. making this show appeal to an American audience and fans of the original is a hugely difficult task!

We are doing our best with our limited resources. "

That sounds reasonable to me. I think  it sounds like the people behind this proposed series know what there doing.  It sounds like it is going to be done in a similar  way to Power Rangers. But won't be a goofy as Masked Rider.  I really hope the piolet gets picked up. It really feels like this is going to be a good show.

10/04/06  More info has come in about the new Kamen Rider adaption, which seems to be titled Kamen Rider Dragon Knight ( set to adapt Kamen Rider Ryuki), at least for now.  The producer/director seems to be Mike Wang.  Steve Wang is another producer of the show and is Mike Wang's bother. Steve Wang previously worked on Power Rangers Lost Galaxy as a writer. Chris Phillips seems to be a writer on the project and is writing the piolet. The script that was uncovered was actually from part of the first draft. There is a final draft out there somewhere. The project is actually set to shoot very soon ( probably  Oct. 14-18).  In case your wondering the script pages  were found from a casting site that MR-Aftershock had access to.  This project does not seem to have any invovlement with Disney.  No word on what network this is being sold too.

Credit this news to MR-Aftershock. Who uncovered all this from an unnamed online source. I can't reveal it but I checked it out myself to verify what he told me. But keep in mind folks, this is just a piolet. Nothing has been green lit beyond this.

10/04/06 In what could be pretty big news, it seems a new piolet is being shot invovling some sort of US adaption of Kamen Rider. Kamen Rider much like Super Sentai,  has yearly series featuring the adventures of various Kamen Riders. Each series is basically its own self contained story. But past Riders do usually appear in a team up. Kamen Rider actually took a fairly long hatius in Japan. But made a come back in recent years.

Of course the first (and only)  Kamen Rider adapation in the US was Saban's own Masked Rider. Orginally designed as Spin Off of Power Rangers to captialize on its popularity. Masked Rider stared TJ Roberts and only last for one season.  Saban Entertianment lost the rights to even air the show or any Kamen Rider footage afterwards ( although the reruns of the series did have a brief run in syndication for a short time after its cancellation). This has resulted in the Power Rangers episode,  "Friend in Need"  from airing on the US airwaves for years. "Friend in Need" is of course the Masked Rider/Power Rangers team up multi-pater that opened the  third season of MMPR. It served to launch the Masked Rider TV series that aired the same tv season.

Disney has since bought Saban Entertianment.  This new Kamen Rider project looks to have nothing to do with the  Disney or the old Masked Rider Series. Keep in mind that the show might not even happen. We are just talking about a piolet here. A piolet is basically just someone trying to sell a show to a network. So there is no gaurentee that the show will even be ordered. So there is a good chance this all might be for nothing. But there is just as  good a chance that this will lead to a new US Toku show as well. But nothing is for certain yet.

Credit Cyber Black for breaking this story. MR-Aftershock provided  Shadowzord (formally known as  Power Animals)  with scans of part of the piolet script. Its up in the Rangerboard thread about this very story. But its towards the end of the thread that the scans first start to be posted. Here is the thread.

10/04/06  It seems Haim Saban is getting back into the kids television business. Saban of course is the credited creator of Power Rangers. Even if he did little for it creatively. It was his idea to import Super Sentai as Power Rangers. So he deserves credit for that. And of course his company put its money into the show. Saban Entertainment also destributed many other kids shows and was closely associated with the Fox Kids Network. Saban served as president of that divison for many years.  Saban of course sold Saban Entertainment to Disney around or during production of Wild Force. So he has been out of the kids TV genre for a long time. Saban recently has begun buy some international tv channels. Now he is invovled in producing a children's show that invovles some sort of fairy tales. This story was first reported by Yahoo News.

10/04/06   I have decieded to bring back the Power Rangers Online Ezboard. The PRO invisonfree will remain active. We will have two forums for this website. The PRO Ezboard was the orginal forum for this site. And was started by the original PRO webside, started by Mike Wayne. I took over the board a few years ago and used it for my site. After I decided to move to Invisionfree I closed the ezboard and left it as an archive. Now it will be open for posting yet again.  I welcome you to continue to post at both forums. Kids get your parent's permission. The ezboard is located here.

10/04/06 Over at the Power Rangers Online Invisionfree Forum ,The Virginian ( resident member and mod of the RPG section, formally known as Cheetamus Primal) is running an rpg in the Power Rangers X Universe ( which is an subforum of the main RPG section). Virginian is looking for new players  for his RPG. And is also open to people who would like to  start their own RPG's in the Power Rangers X Universe. But you must get aproval for him first on all accounts. Go here to sign up. If you have any questions either pm or email the Virginina through the board.  You must have a membership at the board to participate. But its free and easy to register. Kids get your parent's permission.

10/02/06  Bandai has issued a press release about the new fall line up of Mystic Force Toys. This news is actually a few weeks old ( I'm a wait to the last minute kind of guy, so sue me). Anyway rather than repost the release on the site I might as well just link you to  their website. They have the release and some pictures up.  Click here to visit their website.

9/27/06   I think its apropiate to aknowledge two other actors that have passed away earlier this year. Both did so during my hatius from the site, so I never had the opertunity to give my condolences.  Machiko Soga was a long time Japenese actress and voice artist. She has apeared in many anime as well as many Super Sentai Shows. Most notable to Power Rangers  fans would be her role in Bandora in Zuyranger. Footage of her as Bandora was of course used for Rita Repulsa in Mighty Morphing Power Rangers Season 1.  An American actress was used to protray the role in later seasons. Our condolences go to Soga and her family. May she rest in peace.  Soga passed on May 7, 2006. For more info on our life and carreer visit her wikipedia entry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machiko_Soga

Bob Pappenbrook also passed away earlier this year.  Pappenbrook was a  long time  voice actor, who also had some live action roles. . He is best known to Power Rangers fans, as the voice of Rito Revolto and Deviot. But his contrubutions to the show do not stop there. He was also featured on Digimon  and Big Bad Beattleborgs. Our condolences go out to him and his family. May he rest in peace.   Pappenbrook passed away on March 17, 2006. Go to  his wikopedia article for more info on him and his various roles.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Pappenbrook

9/27/06   Veteren actor Edward Albert  passed away on Septiember 22, 2006. He is best known to our fandom, as having  protrayed Mr. Collins in Power Rangers Time Force.  Albert is said to have not been  just a good actor but a classy guy as well. At age 55, he has left us too soon. My condolences go out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.  The following  is an article from a website covering his passing. It should shed more light on Albert and just who he was as a person.

9/13/06 A rather interesting rumor has popped up at rangerboard. Shadowzord ( better known as Power Animals)  claims that Johnny Yong Bosch is going to make a guest apearance on Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.  He claims this to come from a legit source of his.  Johnny Yong Bosch of course protrayed Adam Park during MMPR season 2 thru  Power Rangers Turbo ( returning as a guest star in Power Rangers In Space). Yong and his Adam  character have always been favoites among the Power Rangers fandom. Yong has gone on to become a succesful vioce artist for many American adaptions of Japenese Anime. He is part of a successful band known as Eyeshine. Bosch showed up at Rangerboard a year ago, to intereact with some of his fans.

Power Rangers Operation Overdrive will be the 15th season of the show and should debut in early 2007.  This was reported earlier in the year, during this webmasters hatius from working on this site.

If Bosch truely is making a guest apearance during Overdrive , this will be huge news.  Its not often that we get the return of a  old cast member from so long ago. Even if it is just for one episode it woulf be a pretty big story.  Power Animals  has made mistakes before but its not like him to spread lies or outlandish stories. He does have some credibility. But I advise everyone to take this news with a grain of salt. You never know if  PA got false info or if plans change. Plus who knows how big of a role JYB would end up playing. But  it sure is an interesting story  to follow.  Go here to see PA's thread.

9/6/06 Well ,  I have been catching up on my mystic force. I just watched Long Ago last night. But I just want to say how great a two parter Gatekeeper was. It made me really get hooked on Mystic force. Its clearly the best episode of the season that I have seen so far.  It was a strech to see Clare go all badass all of the sudden but  she was using her mothers power. So her mother's spirit was helping her. That makes it make more sense. I loved seeing Clare kick but though, that was awesome. They might as well have named Clare Serena and made her the Moon Princess.

Of course those of you that are following the current series probably are laught at me since this episode aired months ago.  But it was just that goo I had to comment. I like all the twists that have been happening since than.  With Impurius and Daggeron to name a few. Also lets not forget Leelee being Necolria's daughter. Which happened before Gatekeeper. That also was a nice touch.  I am sure I am in for more surprises as I contunue to catch up.

For those of you that actually like this place, this is all good news for your. Since catching up will lead to a lot more updates around here. I am already working on the Mystic Force Episode Guide. Hopefully, some of the updates to the section will be ready soon.

8/31/06 I perodically get emails from people asking me for autographs or inside information on the Show. I just want to let you how know that I am not a  Insider, nor do I have any connections to Power Rangers or disney. I am just a fan who enjoys the show and the fandom. I also just so happen to enjoy running this site.  Most of my knowledge comes from what I have read from other sites or message board and from just participating in the fandom since late 2000.  So I am sorry to say that I can;t get anyone any autographs. Except for mine but I don't think that would be worth much. But you could always try selling it to the boyz at funaroboard. They just love me there, especially Zarius. The last two sentances was  sarcasm, for those of you who don't know what the heck I am talking about. Not that anyone ever does anyway. But I do make bad inside jokes.

8/31/06 So I turned on my tv the other day to see an informercial on Ebay just happen to be on. Who was the talent hosting the informercial? Just so happened to be PR Alum Ann Marie Crouch.  Talk about funny occurences. She looked so different out of her Shayla costume. You could diffinitly tell it was here though, by her vioce. And she said her name at the beggining so it isn't one of my perniod delusions. But we don't need to talk about that on this site. Speaking of Crouch,  she gave birth to a baby girl months ago. I neglected to mention it during my "brief" hatius. A belated congratulations to her.

8/28/06 Power Rangers Online hasn't been updated much over the last  several months. But I assure you the site is not going anywhere. I have just been caught up with other things. I feel way behind with Mystic Force. I have recently started to catch up. Expect updates to the Mystic Force Section  very soon. I am going to update it as I catch up. PRO  will continue to be your source for  PR Info and hopefully PR news once again. There is still plenty of PRO info on this site. Don't be afriad to check out Ranger Gallery or the PRO Forum ( Lahana Forums is going through a big change, vist the domain to see what is going on) . Lets hope this site continues to grow and become even better in the future, as we head into the end of Mystic Force and the beginning of Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.

The orginal Power Rangers Online began in  1999 as  the Power Rangers Online Universe by  the webmaster later known  as Chronoranger. It quickly became Power Rangers Online when it got its own domain.  PRO  had a popular message board for its time.  The site shut down in 2001 and the  Ezboard  was left to  become  deserted. I  decided to try and make that board active again. So I created the  Power Rangers Online Database. Eventually I gained control of the Ezboard and  changed my site into my own version of PRO.  Later I created an invisionfree board to replace the ezboard.

The  new PRO  is tottally different from the original . But  I like to think it has made its own contributions to the online fandom. And most of all,  I hope you visitors have enjoyed the site
